Hi! I guess I made New Year's Commitments, I think that when I make Resolutions they are bound to fall apart or fail. But this year I made some commitments.
1. Get more healthy
2. Get out and be more Social
3. Become more active

I have been doing fairly well- the first thing is that I had a gym membership that last year I probably used once a month give or take. This year I have been in the gym at least three times a week. I am running more frequently and I have been making better strides to get my eating under control. Now I have sort of hit a weight loss plateau, because I am not gaining weight, but I am not really losing weight either so I am trying to figure that out.

DC is a great place to live, but I first came here for school and spending that time on campus, means that I lose out in what DC has to offer. So this is the first year that I have been in this city without school as my main reason for being here and thus far I have been out for Inauguration events, attended a few events at the Kennedy Center and just attended my first Gala. For the start of 2013, this isn't that bad.

Becoming more active- well I run all the time, but I am currently training for a half marathon and due to this I think I have become more strategic in my running. I am running towards a goal and that has motivated me. So much so that I have now registered for my 3 race this year... One half in March, one 5K in May and one in September!

So I would say that I am off to a pretty good start to continue to keep to my commitments, so much so that it feels like my lifestyle more than anything else. Hope you are all sticking to your commitments!

I did enjoy the lemonade cleanse. Had lots of energy. But on day 6, rushed to hospital with heart skips. The salt water flushed did it. Doctors who were ready to shock my heart said the salt water flush was not a good idea for me.
Now, I add organic lemon to my regular tap water and leave out the sugary syrup and salt.... And do cleanses with vegetables and fiber.

Hello MSGOFARR,

Yes, I believe that cleansing first then gradually eating portion of the right food like fruits and vegetable will help. Go on-line and look up Master Cleansing lemonade diet. You will start seeing things that were eaten two weeks ago or even before that and loose about 7-10lbs or more depending on how long you stay on it.

I love that you are cleansing. How does that work? I am so pleased that I heard you say this. Seriously I have been studying food labels and is freaking scary!!!! I didnt know I had to learn a whole new language to understand what I am putting in my body. I almost feel like I need a food coach!

Well I am guilty of process food. I do keep SmartOnes by Weight Watchers on hand, but I only eat them about 1-2 times out of the week The sodium in those processed packages are crazy. I started fasting and cleansing today, because I want to start out cleansed and monitor all my intake. Day one went well. I've notice that my stomach in no longer looking like I'm 9 months pregnant.

Truth - stop eating processed food which is 90% of American foods sold in stores. I just started this so I am no preacher or saint or have ahieved this new lifestyle I am moving toward but I am reading the literature now and coming out of denial. When you read something on the back of a food label and all the words are a jumbled mess of sh*t you dont know or understand - then you really have no idea of what you are putting in your body and what these additives, chemicals and sugars will really do to you body. Intellectually, I know this. Practicing this in my life - not so much. I am trying to get out of denial. Its been 3 weeks and so far so good.

This was the first year that I did not make a New Year's Resolution. I have always eaten the right food. My husband is Vegan and I am not. I still eat eggs, milk, cheese, and sometime baked chicken, but no red meat. I sometime sneak a Kellogg's Flatbed turkey sausage breakfast sandwich in once or twice a month. But, other than that we eat a lot of fruit, spinach salad and Tilipia fish. My problem is portion. My husband does most of the cooking and I always want seconds. I need to find something to eat that won't hurt me before bedtime and I get up every night with hot flashes. It makes me want to eat everything in the freezer that will cool me down. But I might eat two Edy's fruit bars that usually works. emoticon

I didnt. I thought about it though. I decided life is filled enough with pressure and expectations that I really didnt want to have to perpetuate more. I just need to do what I do and live with that and move on... you know? I know what I need to do without setting up the mental expectations. I am a type A personality and put a lot of pressure on myself as it is...

Did you make a New Year's Resolution? How is it going? Have you had to change it?
