I have a 12 year old and a 14 year old and both are in bed by 9 o'clock. On weekends they are free to stay up longer as long as they don't wake me up!

I think I am like you, MAJORMOM7. I go by what school they go to. DD#1 is in middle school so she goes to bed at 9, but next year when she goes to high school it will probably be extended to 9:30. Whereas DD#2 is finishing up elementary school this year so she goes to bed at 8:30, which will change to 9 next year. They always know that they have the option to go to bed earlier if they want, and on the weekends they get much more flexibility.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it is yours. If it doesn't, it never was.

I try to get mine to bed by 10:00 also. If they have tests, I let them study as long as they need to. But, if they have no homework, I try to encourage them to go to bed as early as possible. DS loves to go to bed early, but also wakes up early and gets going. DD never wants to go to sleep and it takes her a very long time to get up in the morning.

It maybe too late to go back and make a new start, but it's not too late to make a new ending.

I have one 13 and one 16 and they are in bed by 10 most nights except for dance nights which end by 10:15. This is a tough year for us as far as getting in early. emoticon
