HI we have 4 children. I used Graco with the 1st 2, but the handle got stuck in the up position with the 3rd, so I bought a used Chicco from a friend. My sister loved the Chicco so I went with that one, but I think it is heavier than Graco. The chicco has easier straps to adjust, but possibly we did not have the most expensive Graco, so if you bought a better one it might have the easier to adjust straps or possibly they make them easier now. Our oldest is now 6 and we have had the Graco carseat since he was born. Also if you want to use the carseat without the base and just use a seatbelt we find the Graco easier to use for that. I think overall I actually liked the Graco better than the Chicco we are currently using.

My car seat is just as heavy as yours (Evenflo discovery) but I found one called Graco snugride that's 7 lbs by itself and 12 with the base. You can look into it and see if it's something you're interested in getting; Graco is really good that's where I got my son's crib and highchair from.
