A good veggie diet is in the Rice Diet. It worked well for me - i could have fish one time a week. I do like to have some meat. It is good and inexpensive diet to follow.

Sorry, but I had to laugh when I saw that the going vegetarian post had a t-rex avatar. Hee, hee!!

I have been vegetarian for almost 2 years. I used to drink a cup of soy milk in the morning, but quit when my Dr. said soy is too genetically modified to consider safe.

I eat a lot of raw nuts, egg whites, beans and greek yogurt for protein, and some low fat or non fat cheeses. I also eat salads quite frequently (spinach & romaine mostly). I only eat cooked broccoli, and I still eat raw cauliflower sometimes.

My T4 levels are fine, but my T3 was .1 into the low normal range and I'm currently increasing doses of Cytomel trying to get to an acceptable level of T3. I am currently feeling tired and worn out - but I don't think it's from what I have been eating.

I have recently cut meat from my diet and was wondering if anyone had any advice for going vegetarian. I know soy and alot of leafy greens are not recommended for people with hashi's so I just wanted to see if anyone had tried/eaten these or any other foods that supposedly impact thyroid function and if so what your experience was with them. Did you notice a change? Were your numbers different? Did you feel crappy? etc. I am trying to do this as healthy as I can so I don't want to just resort to pastas and sides because I am worried about not eating meat and my thyroid too!
