I am feeling a cool front not a cold front here in Texas. Still very humid. I've had several flashes today.

Yep, the cold front came through here last night. I woke up in a frigid room, since we had slept with the window open. Didn't have to worry about hot flashes too bad, lol, pop out of the covers for a couple of minutes, then dive back in.

Crazy weather, but then again it is spring. Yesterday I was wearing a skirt and a sleeveless blouse, today slacks and a sweater over a short sleeve shirt (layers, you know).

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hey bburger62, I noticed we are on the same beach but you're so much better than me, you have the starfish....... I chose the bottle of wine lol. Guess that says it all!

You know what's funny, sometimes I get really cold and think I 'd rather have the hot flashes - ridiculous eh? Can't make up my mind. emoticon

It was lovely here today, I believe we got up to zero (0), the sun was shining and no wind. You know what's really funny? When summer is over and fall is upon us I always say to dh, "it's getting cold" (it's like 58 degrees). Now we are waiting for winter to be over, I think 0 degrees is hot.......

I love it!!!! HOT STUFF, lol! Great thought!

Stress does seem to make them worse doesn't it. Maybe when you are awake due to pain or stress the hot flashes are just one more annoyance that makes everything feel so much worse?

I wonder if our men know how lucky they are to have this "hot" stuff eh?

I am starting to worry about what I'm going to do in the summer. I mean we are on average the highest being 3 degrees the lowest this month -15. We drop low at night.

Well the night sweats are the worst for me, every 1.5 - 2 hrs I'm wakened with them now, they seem to be getting worse or maybe it's just because I don't get a good nights sleep I just feel it more and unfortunately I'm up by 5:30-6am every day, 7 days a week because.... I don't know it's just when my internal clock has always gotten me up, even if I have only had 2 or 3 hrs sleep- weird. emoticon

I get them throughout the day also, cardigan on, cardigan off, jacket on, jacket off lol.... They've even given up laughing at me at work as it's just the norm now. emoticon

I know what you mean about the warmer weather. We are back to cool again here, with possible snow tomorrow, but those few days in the upper 70's made me realize that I think I will be living in tank tops and skirts or shorts this summer to cope.

I have the hot flashes and night sweats that roller coaster all the time. I may go a week without having too many and then BAM emoticon emoticon they are back with a vengeance.

I have found that my diets makes them worse especially surgery foods which affects my joints as well. However, when I am stressed they are worse. My job has been very stressful the past year. I can't seem to catch up, but when I eat better, I feel better. emoticon emoticon

I know I need to stay focused. I have found that when I don't post, I do worse. I haven't been able to get on sparks a lot lately. I am exhausted when I get home from work. I help out with the grandchildren until parents get off, and then its time to go to bed and start over.

It will get better. I just have faith that God is going to get us through these rough flashes one say at a time.

The hot drinks seem to set my hot flashes of,too. Thankfully I don't care much for them other than a hot chocolate in the winter. I'm not a coffee drinker and being from the south I like my tea sweet and iced. Caffeine seems to cause me to have hot flashes. Alcohol does make me feel a little warm inside for a few minuets if I have more than a drink, but it has always been that way for me. I will have to pay more attention to the chocolate,I'm not sure about that. Stress and aggravation will send me into a hot flash instantly, bit then that could be the Irish and German blood in me. Lol ! Spicy food will also cause hot flashes for me. I don't care for hot and spicy but I do like spicy.

I think everyone is different diet wise for the flashes with some commonalities. I find anything hot, tea, coffee, soup etc., wine/alcohol, chocolate emoticon that one's a killer as I'm a pure chocoholic - sometimes it's worth it. Not too sure what else for me. I try to track it with the food and drink but the night sweats are the killer, as you say, it's the lack of sleep. I wake up every 1.5 to 2 hrs every night without fail.

We got a huge snowfall through the night last night - what a day today.

I have hot flashes and night sweats and because of them I get no sleep at night. Obgyn highly suggested HRT's but like I told her after reading side effects of the brand she wanted me to take, the side effects were too scarry. I have heard that Black Cohosh is good for hot flahses and night sweats. Wondering how to change my diet to avoid the hot flashes and night sweats. Is there a diet just for that? If so, where can I find it?

I have looked into herbal remedies but unfortunately most of them have some form of estrogen in them? Not to worry, I can put up with all the discomforts rather than risking the cancer.

Have you tried any of the herbal remedies for the hot flashes. I think I'm going to. I have tried the HRT. It didn't help, and there is too much controversy over them to continue taking them if they are not going to help.

I'm not sure about the pain thing, didn't really think about it until I ready your post. You may be right though as I have a wee "issue" that is painful, always there but when it get particularly uncomfortable I do seem to be "hot" at the same time. I'll need to pay more attention to that. Today, phew, it was a hot one for me. The temperature was +8 I believe and I was having one hot flash after another at work. I'm starting to worry about how I'm going to handle the summer already.

I can tell you one thing I have observed in the last few days. I think pain makes the hot flashes worse. Now, whether it really does or whether you just feel bad so it appears that way, I don't know. The dentist stated a root canal on me on Monday. The tooth was more infected than he had thought, despite me having already taken one course of anitibiotics. The dentist stopped, temporarily sealed things up and sent me home with more anitibiotics. Ouch and wow, HOT!

I was so happy at work today when I discovered a fan! It is almost unseasonably warm today, the fan is a God send!

Have a great weekend everyone!

It's Saturday. I'm sitting on the couch 1/2 naked (no, don't picture it lol) working/playing on my computer. The snow is down but not falling today so pretty and peaceful outside. Feeling hot but that's ok, I don't mind it so much when I'm at home, it's a lot easier than being out in public and feeling like you're going to explode all over the place.
Have a good one!

Well my so called "cold" moments have gone and I'm sitting in my basement right now just dying with the heat. It's the coldest place I could find. I don't mind sharing with you all I'm feeling pretty darn miserable. I can't sleep, I'm either dying with the heat or freezing to death and ache (probably from my body trying to decide what on earth is going on here.) I think I can deal with the flashes easier than not sleeping. OK ladies I'll stop whining for now.

I hear you about being miserable. I managed to get back into "our" bed last week, after the surgery and night flashes etc.... It is so hard on him as every time I awaken, so does he and I feel so guilty about it. I keep thinking he's going to get fed up with me (I know deep in my heart he wont as I know he adores me) BUT..... I still feel that way, it gets you so down some times. Well better get back to work here or that will be something else I'll be in trouble for.
Cheers!!!

I think Spring is here in N. Carolina . The weather hear can be pretty unpredictable in this area this time of year. We have been in the hi 50s and low 60s all week and they're calling for the same next week. The nights are still in the 30s. I don't know what to wear when it gets like this. Clothes on , clothes off. Most of the time at home I just put on my house coat with no pjs under. Papa likes it but I'm miserable.

Mind you, the night has still to come. :) The weather is getting milder here. -16 toight but up to 5 degrees tomorrow so at least I can start to look forward to Spring. Shhhhh shouldn't have said that probably just jinxed myself lol..

I am constantly looking at the thermostat to see if it's me or if it's to warm in the house. We heat with a huge wood stove that is outside and the warm air is circulated through the house by the same ducts that the electric heat and air are,so sometimes it can get to warm. I can't tell if it's me or the heat until I look. Papa has gotten to where when he sees me start sweating he will say,"It's you honey,it's you" lol

I am smiling the whole time I am reading because I don't like to wear coats and be all bundled up, so I hurry to my car in the morning and speed walk to the front door at work. I keep my shawl in the car in case I get stuck. BUT I live in the Houston-Galveston area and it doesn't get that cold. At least now that I am menopausal -LOL!

I can relate to that. Sometimes I am so hot, but I know I have to go out to the car and make the drive to work. Bundling up in the house while you are in "hot" mode is miserable. Thankfully, getting outside in the cold helps.

OK here is the laugh of the day for you all. I get up this morning, neither hot or cold (for a change). I get ready for work and of course by that time I'm hot stuff lol...
Anyway, the snow is melting and I'm quite happy so I put on my lighter, spring like, coat (I'm hot remember) and it's actually 4 degrees outside - nice.
I am driving to work and then the weather comes on for my area, 4 degrees just now, dropping to -4 by lunch and -14 this evening with winds of 80 klm. Can you believe that? So I'm ok for now, a bit cold but drinking soup so about to get hot emoticon
I am going to freeze my buns off at home time. Guess I should listen to the weather and not go by how I feel at the actual moment of choosing a coat.
Talk about a being stupid! lol

Still getting the chills, in fact this morning I got up at 5:30 am to put on a sweater and socks???? Today I've been hot and cold, lol... guess it's true what people say, don't know whether I'm coming or going. Have a good one ladies.

I was on hormone replacement (estrogen only and I wore a patch) for 6 years until my doctor said it was time to get off of them. So I weaned myself off of them and the hot flashes started but only during the daytime! I find that if I stay away from caffeine (but how can I stay away from my morning coffee?) I fair better in the hot flash department. Also, if I get too busy while volunteering at church, a hot flash will occur! I find that enough exercise, housework or yardwork will wear me out and I will sleep like a baby! Sometimes I have a few months of trouble getting to sleep and I take Melatonin which really helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. Look into this ladies~

What can I say, the hot flashes are a killer but then at -24 degrees, they're not too bad lol.... The sleepless nights are frustrating too in fact I get down right angry at myself when I can't sleep - vicious circle. Unfortunately hormone replacements are not an option for me ..... so.... I keep on plodding along, joking with some of you ladies and thanking the Lord I am alive.

I'll be glad when the flashes stop, but then there's other things to contend with. Like hormone replacement. I think I'll just pass on that, if I can. I'm not sleeping well at night either. I think this is part of the "change" too. Oh well, at least I have you guys who can relate to what I'm going through! emoticon

I have a friend whose nose gets a warm sensation then turns red and she was wondering if that was a hot flash. I have never experienced that kind of localized hot flash and was wondering if anyone else has???

I hear you. The chillow actually isn't cold, you sit it at room temperature and put it inside your pillow slip. I usually put it inside my pillow slip just when I'm nodding off. It's amazing how hot it becomes from the heat of your body. I find it truly helps, I mean, they don't stop but you're not soaking wet when you wake up.

Well we are supposed to be in for one heck of a snow storm starting tomorrow afternoon for approx. 24hrs. As long as I don't get snowed in at work...lol. That'd be my luck.

Talk to you soon. emoticon

I think I'll try the chillow. I am normally cold natured ( except when I'm having a hot flash or night sweat) so I don't much care for anything that is cold in my bed. But at this point I am willing to try anything that will allow me back in bed with my husband. He comes in and snuggles with me for a bit every morning and it is nice but it is not the same.

I have not had a period in over 41/2 yrs. Except for occasional vaginal dryness and frequent hot flashes all of the other symptoms have ceased. I have learned how to deal with the dryness and find that the solution to that can be quite enjoyable (giggle giggle) but the hot flashes are making me miserable in more ways than one.
