Oh Kim...sorry about your neck...hope it feels better! I did Level 2 this morning and wow, what a workout! I had to take some breaks in between sections (not exercises like when I started level 1) and some 5 second breaks through out the workout, but I liked it better than Level1. Or maybe I was just tired of Level 1..ha!
I did march in place instead of doing the running with the knees and the double jump rope. I also couldn't do the abs where you raise both legs up and down...my lower back hurt every time I did them so I modified to a bent knee and brought my knees to my chest and my lower back only hurt a little. Not sure if I was supposed to pull/ hurt like that.

How did your Level 2 workout go?

Kathy- have you started yet? Let us know how it's going :)

Oh Jenn...I am so sorry!! My back pain turned into a crink in my neck from sleeping funny..happens when my 3 boys migrate to my bed in the early morning hours and I am forced to sleep every which way!! I am back at it tomorrow and thinking that I am going to TRY¨to get up at 7am and do it before taking my son to kindergarden.....if not right after dropping him off!!

I am going to start with level 2 as level one was pretty easy for me this time around.

Cannot wait to get going!! Have a good night!!

Well, where is everyone with their workouts?
I didn't do one yesterday bc I had a massive migraine all day that lasted til this afternoon :( I PLAN on starting back up tomorrow morning, but not sure what day I should count it as...think I'm going to count it as Day 11 and move on to Level 2.
I hate that I haven't worked out since Sunday...hate when LIFE gets in the way!

Let me know how everyone else is doing!

Hey Ladies! How was your workout?
I decided to move my 30 DS workout to the mornings where I have a little more energy, so I did not do a workout tonight and will start in the morning.

Kim, Sorry to hear about your shoulder. What size weights are you using? My back started hurting when I went up from 3 lb to 5 lb. I went back down to 3 the next workout and the pain never came back. Hope you feel better!

Would y'all mind if I jumped in on the "buddy" system you've worked out? I'll be starting tonight, so you will be much further ahead, but need accounability! I tried level 1 a couple of weeks ago, and had forgotten how HARD it was! Had some back tweeks myself. . .
Thanks,
Kathy

So, for tonight's workout I replaced the jump rope and the kick backs (butt kicks) with marching in place bringing my knees up as high as I could and swinging my arms real big. No shin pain! AND I was able to do the whole workout with only four 5-second breaks :)

How are you doing?

Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I picked back up tonight (counting it as Day 7 and that I took a rest day on Day 6). The bad news is that I have developed shin splints! Started on Day 5 and I was hoping I was just landing wrong during the Cardio sections, but I made sure my form was correct tonight and my shins are killing me. So I couldn't do all the cardio stuff because my shins started hurting too bad. That's very frustrating!

I think tomorrow I'll play around with just doing jumping jacks and jump rope and not the kick backs and see if that helps.

I'm hoping level 2 will be easier on the shins (although I'm afraid I'm going to have trouble with all the plank stuff she has us do in level 2) :)

How'd your workout go?

Wow, Kim! That's great on the push ups! I did not do the Shred last night. We had a plumbing problem that left us with no hot water... did not think it would be a good idea to Shred and NOT get a shower after :)

Hot water is back so tonight I will pick back up!

Can't believe we are half way done with Level 1! Beat most of my numbers from yesterday (15 bicycle crunches!), BUT allowed myself to take longer breaks today. Don't think I pushed myself as hard as I could have. Oh well, at least I did the whole thing. My knee doesn't hurt anymore so it seems the modifications I did worked.
Great job keeping with it, even with a sore core!

Level 2 will be here before we know it :)

Well, Day 4 was a bit difficult. I switched from 3lb to 5 lb weights. Started to get a cramp in my lower back half way through, but worked through it. Did 10 bicycle crunches (yesterday I could only do 5)!

How did your Day 4 go?

Jenn you are doing awesome!! Sounds like you are building up your stamina!! Nothing wrong with doing the push ups modified. I use a mat and towel as it kills my knees!! I really hate the side lunges as it also hurts my knees from time to time and find it a bit hard to lift up both arms so I have modified and raise one arm on each side. Day 3 is done and I really thoughyt I would be much sorer today..but feel good. Ready to bring on day 4!! Have a great night.

Wow, Kim- those push ups are impressive! My right knee hurt really bad all day. Hurt to put weight/ walk on it and I'm hoping it was just because I was doing the side lunge things wrong. I was moving my knee forward instead of sticking my butt out. It hurt at the back of my knee and just a little down my leg. So no cardio this morning. I think I may try to just squat and raise the weights...still makes me push my butt out and still works the arms, but less risk to the knee.

I did do Day 3 tonight!! and my knee did ok. Hurts a little now, but hoping it will get better as they get stronger. I had to do the pushups on the wall, because doing them on my knees made my knee cap hurt. This is an old problem, used to happen when I would kneel to dress my son in the morning. So for now it will be wall push ups, but with the legs far away so it is still difficult to me.

Cut my resting time down at least by half again. Decided to not rest as much and count how many of each thing I could do before I had to stop and rest. I will try to beat that number each time :)

Can't believe I've done 3 days of this!! Hope your Day 3 was successful, too :)

Way to go on cutting down the resting time!!! And the push ups!! Today I did 20 the first set and 15 the next. I know I will be sore tomorrow but I don't care!! I added 20 minutes of high impact after....it was hard to do, but needed the extra cardio!! Bring on Day 3!!! Woo Hoo!!

Way to go, Kim! I'm sure you'll stick with it this time around!

Just finished Day2 and I cut my resting time in half from yesterday!!! The timer really helps.
I did the push ups against the sofa seat cushion...so half way between a standing push up (which I could already do) and a floor one. Better than none at all I guess.

Here's hoping I'm not too sore tomorrow :)

Way to go!! Don't worry about resting in between..I am sure in a few more days you will be resting less!! It is a hard workout.
Yes I did mine just a bit ago. I have actually done the level 1 before and ended up quitting after the 10th day!! But I have to tell you that after those 10 days on level 1 I could totally see a HUGE difference!! I have NEVER been able to do the bicycle crunches. I just bring each leg in to meet each elbow. My core is sooooo weak for that. I hope though that by day 10 to be able to do them. I can do the push ups by the girly way:)

Good luck with day 2 and a good idea to time your breaks!! Talk to ya tomorrow!!

Oh my! I did Day1 just now and oh.my.goodness!!! I am in worse shape than I thought.

So, she says to only take a 5 second break and I tried that during the whole 1st circuit, but found that I could only do the exercises for half the time because I was out of breath. So, instead of doing jumping jacks for 30 seconds, I could only manage 15 seconds and then caught my breath while they finished.

So, for the 2nd and 3rd circuits, I paused the video in between each exercise and rested for 1-2 full minutes to catch my breath and then pressed play and did the next exercise. Doing that allowed me to do each exercise for the whole time allotted (except the bicycle crunches- man!). I know that goes against the whole point of the video, but I figured it was more important for me to be able to exercise the whole time as opposed to half.

I think I'll use a timer from now on and only give myself 1 minute in between and see if each day or every 2 days, I can lower that time down.

Oh- and...can't even do the modified push ups! So, I lower my body to the ground so my stomach and large chest are resting on the ground and then push back up with my arms. It's the going down part I can't do. Hope that improves :)

Let me know how it went for you, Kim :)

KIMBERTA - I would love to! I plan on starting tomorrow morning. I think I will continue to do my cardio (step aerobics and walk away the pounds) in the evening and have this replace my strength training.

I'm scared...let me know how it goes!

Hello all! I am wanting to start 30 day shred...currently I do 40 minutes of step aerobics 6 mornings a week and strength training 3 times a week in the evenings. Which one should 30 Day Shred replace?

Thanks and wish me luck! :)
