Yup, I have this and really like it. I isn't something I solely rely on, but it helps when the weather is not cooperating, giving an alternative. It also changes a walking routine up a bit because you are using different muscles. I love that I don't even have to wear shoes when I do it. I just walk away in my bare feet!

And YES, you can lose weight doing them.

:) FYI...this thread made me interested in WATP again...I hadn't really thought about it (seriously) in a while, and it is the PERFECT thing to on my low energy days...it gets you going without wearing you out, and APPARENTLY, my hips forgot about it too, because I was actually "feeling the burn" in my waist, hips, and thighs! (This surprised me, because I'm constantly doing "more strenuous" exercise like Turbo Jam...guess the little bit counts too!!) Thanks guys for bringing it up!

I have them. I haven't used them in a while, but when I did I did get my heart going and got a good work out with some of the moves she has. I enjoyed it. I should get back to doing it.

I have a couple of them, but I would rather walk on the treadmill or outside I didn't like the walking in place thing, even though I guess that's what I'm doing on the treadmill...lol I agree though, anything that you find that you enjoy and it gets you up and moving is going to be great! Dust em off and pop em the player girl, you can do it, and just think of how much better you'll feel after you do it too! Good luck!!

I have a couple of Leslie's DVD's and they are a really good workout. I like them because you don't just walk, you end up working your whole body. I only use them every couple of weeks because I primarily like to work out at the gym. However, if you like working out at home they are fabulous! I have the "Walk and Kick" and the "Walk and Jog" both awesome workouts! :)

I've tried them and have used them but to be honest, I get bored pretty quickly. I did the one mile for about a week and then the music, hearing her say the same stuff over and over again started to get on my nerves..lol, I didn't mean for it to be that way. This is part of the reason I didn't get the Zumba ones although I think it looks like so much fun. I don't know. Maybe that one will be different..

Anyways, I think it's a great start. I guess if you begin to get bored like I did, put on your MP3 Player so you have some other music going on and you can still watch and keep up.

Wow, My intention wasn't to be negative. I am sorry.. I hope you don't take it wrong. GOOD LUCK with your Journey. I know you can do it.. we all can.

Just keep swimming...

You can definitely lose weight doing these! A year ago I started off doing these and taking walks outside and I lost a lot of weight. I started off doing the 1 mile, and as that got easier moved to the 2, 3 and then 4 mile. I just did the 4 mile one last week. These dvds aren't much of a challenge for me anymore after a year of working out regularly, but I still use them occasionally for exercise when I want to work out, but am feeling sluggish and don't want to run or do zumba.

You know exercise is working when you're getting out of breath and feel a bit of burn in your muscles. You shouldn't feel like you're dying, but you should feel like you're working hard. The good thing about those dvds is that you can adapt them to your speed and how high you can lift your legs and stuff.

I've used the DVDs in the past, but now I'm more into Zumba/Turbo Jam-ish stuff. But I still do "the moves" from walking away the pounds while I'm at work, when things get slow and I find myself needing a little jolt of activity to get me going. I think they are a great workout, especially if you are just getting started...we've all got to start somewhere, and these are a pretty sound low-impact workout.

WATP is the only exercise program I've ever tried and haven't found a reason to try anything else. I unfortunately cannot seem to get beyond the 1 mile workouts, but it's more than I've done in the past. I'd say my biggest complaint is after using the same videos for so long some of the walkers start to get on my nerves lol There are some videos out there with just Leslie walking and I find I enjoy those more.

Lisa,

The simple truth is, anything that gets us moving is going to help us lose weight. I have the walk away the pounds DVDs and I LOVE them! They are an awesome way to get a good cardio workout that is very low impact! You will be sore for a while, but that does go away. Although, I am really beginning to learn that the most important part of getting healthy/losing weight is what we do and do not eat. If you're eating the right foods and the right amount of calories for weight loss, the exercise is really just supplemental (learned that from a personal trainer at my local YMCA).

I'm going to keep using them until I get to my goal weight. I'm not making excuses or anything but I feel like I'll do the tapes quicker than going to the gym. I will NEVER step foot into a gym until I'm good and ready. I have about 5 or 6 WATP DVDs. I did the 4 Really Big Miles 1-Mile Walk and it was hard. But I stayed with it. I think tomorrow, I'm going to do the Ultimate Collection one. I'm still going to do the one mile walk. After a few hours I feel my Stomach working right now. I can't really describe the feeling right now, but it's like I did sit-ups or something. Does that mean the exercise worked?

The DVD's are great! I use the 5 mile one and it's an hour and an excellent workout.
I lost weight doing those and step programs. Since I basically became a hermit over the winter I have packed on a LOT of my lost weight as usual. So exercise is the best first step you can make and the walk dvd's are low impact and you can gradually add more as you get more fit!

Please be mindful of the fact I have asperger's. I do NOT communicate the same as everyone else, if you have a question or a concern with how I worded something, please ask.

I'm going to have to check it out. I believe I have one in the stack of exercise DVDs I have. (I've been given some as gifts so I haven't gone through them all yet.) I'm still not sure I want to do them as I do my walking on the treadmill... so for all of you that have tried it, is it worth it or should I keep going on my treadmill?

Joyce

yes I have almost 10 of her dvd's. They do work and they do leave you winded but after the cool down it does make you feel better. It is much easier for me to do those than to work up my energy to go to the gym to workout.

Yes, you can lose weight with the Walk Away the Pounds videos - as long as you're also staying within your calorie ranges.

I've been doing her 1 Mile workout every day for the past 12 days. It's 20 minutes-ish with warm-up and cool down (I'm doing the one that has been on FitTV OnDemand, but it just went away, so I switched to one I got from NetFlix.)

In my first week on SP, I lost 2.8 lbs, so it does work.

They are a part of my "gym bag". I started out doing the 1 mile walk a few days a week. Once I able to do that without being out of breath. Then I started doing the 2 mile walk which is 32 minutes long. That one still has me pretty winded at the end so I'm not moving on to the three mile just yet.

Hi Team,

I was just wondering has anyone tried an indoor walking program called "Walk Away the Pounds" by a woman named Leslie Sansone?

My Mother purchased several of these walking DVDs for me so that I can start exercising. I got them this past Christmas from here as gift. It's something I've wanted for years. Here it is May and I haven't used them yet nor have I exercised yet. I'm 20 years old and I weight around 340-342lbs. I'm tired of being uncomfortable and out of breath. I just want to know for anyone who has tried these workouts what is your best advice? Can you lose weight doing them?

Note* I know I made a blog about this last month some time, but I was reviewing about my family doing them. I did it 1 Mile for one or two days and then I just stopped all together. My body was sore for days! BUT...I know to toughen it up and get with it. I'm just wondering can you lose weight doing these programs?

Thanks!

~Lisa
