Good point about your clothes' weight... I was wondering about the difference myself. That probably explains it. Thanks!

Oh I hate hearing the little wii telling me "that's obese" "that's overwieght" grrr
I go by my my weigh ins at my nutrionists office.
My home scale is 3lbs heavier than that and the wii is 2lbs heavier. He's got one of those high tech scales that prints everything out for you..so I'm more inclined to go with him. I still do my body tests almost everyday on the wii though. Anyway to track is good for me.

Foxxe I am with you. The last thing you want to hear when you are losing weight is your obese. As for the accuracy of Wii I find it to be more accurate then the scale I have. Scales have to be calibrated, just like the scales you use to measure food portions. So if your scale is not properly calibrated you will not get a good reading. Not all doctors offices use a digital scale and those old ones where they are moving the weight on the top and the one on the bottom is out dated. The Wii can be calibrated and should be done at least every couple of months especially if you use the balance board allot. The more frequent you use the board will through calibration off.

Just a little tip...

I hate using the wii scale, mostly because of that impish voice stating, "That's Obese!" every time I step on it. It is accurate, however, for the scale at the doctor's office tells me that I weigh exactly the same as the Wii Scale.

I don't know what to believe in my case. My wii is telling me I am losing weight and my scale is saying I am gaining. Honestly I think the scale is totally off because it changes every time you get on and off it. I have been going by the changes in my body. I see changes so I don't know. emoticon

Remember that the Wii asks you how heavy your clothing is, and it adjusts the weight accordingly. That might be the difference you're seeing...?

I use my bathroom scale to track because I can get on that when i wake up in the am, I don't usually get on the wii till right before bed so i always weigh more, but the weight loss is usually the same.

My scales are slightly heavier than the Wii scales. Since it's likely that neither are 100% accurate, I just picked the Wii scales to use as a guide for weight loss tracking since the program keeps track for me.

I find the Wii scale to be about the same as my scale. I weigh myself on both first thing in the morning usually within a few minutes of each other.

I find that if I weigh at the same time every day, it stays pretty accurate. I have been checking it against my bathroom scale and it has been very close. I try to weigh first thing every morning...bathroom first...then weigh...then shower. LOL

Doing this for me,

My Wii weighs me one pound lighter than my scale. But then my dr's scale weighs me 2 lbs lighter than my scale, so each one varies that's for sure. I just make sure that I go by my bathroom scale all of the time so I can keep a accurate accounting for myself.

I use my bathroom scale for all "official" weigh ins, but I find my wii is usually within 3 pounds. That is also because I usually weigh in in the morning, but use my wii in the early evening.

In my many attempts at loosing weight I have learned a couple of things. One you use the same scale to track your weight. They are all calibrated differently. And secondly you need to make sure you weigh about the same time everyday, because your body fluxuates. I hope that helps!

I am wondering this myself. My Wii Board measured me at three pounds lighter than my bathroom scale 3 days ago. Today, the Wii Board says I gained 1.5 lbs and my scale says I lost 1.5 lbs. What the heck do I make of this? :/

i haven't had any problems with my accuracy. I think it also has to do with how you weigh etc. they say even with the wii to make sure for accuracy to make sure you do it about the same time everyday. so far mine has been pretty much dead on!

My Wii Fit scale is about as accurate as my bathroom scale, except I noticed it fluctuates LESS. I'm guessing it has to do with when it asks you how heavy your clothes are, because I've had four or five days in the past two weeks where the Wii has said I'm at 181.7, whereas my bathroom scale has been at 180-183 on those days. So I bet it uses some sort of algorithm to guess what your weight is, based on what it actually senses and how much clothes it thinks you might be wearing.

I just found out this weekend that the Wii apparently thinks I'm about 10 lbs lighter than my boyfriend's scale or my parent's scale. So...I'm guessing its wrong. I'm not going to use it to track anymore.

Yes, I have noticed that the Wii fit scale is a bit different than the bathroom scale. However, I have noticed that the shape of my body is improving. Muscle does weight more than fat too. I do notice a difference in how I feel after working out with the Wii Fit.

As along as we all feel better about our selves and fit better in our clothes that is the best result.
If you exercise and drink water and weigh your self after you will weigh more. Just because of the water intake. But you will see the differences in weight during the day.

I had the same problem because I worked out for 30min and see that the scale went up 2lbs. I asked my step dad in-law why. He is a fitness
professional. He is just starting a fitness boot camp. emoticon Also a 3 time winner body builder.

He is going to help me out the best he can. He just a few days moved to Florida.

OK, I tested the Wii the other day to see just how accurate it is. I took the feet off, put them back on, put it on a board with feet and without feet. I weighed myself over and over again for about 10 minutes. My weight fluctuated about a pound. My 9 year old was funny, "That's impossible mom! You can't gain .6 pounds in 2 minutes. You haven't eaten anything"

Also, this weekend I did my measurements and I've lost an inch in my abs, an inch in my pooch just below my belly button, an inch in my hips, 1/2 inch in my left thigh and 1/4 inch in my right....so now, I tend to believe the bathroom scales moreso than the Wii because this stuff HAS to be going somewhere.

I'm not uber worried about it though! I know my clothes are fitting better and I can wear a dress that I couldn't bend over in a month ago. emoticon

I have had the same problem the change in my body. But not the scale. I started doing different types of work outs something needs to get the scale going. My step dad is going to help me with my weight. He just won 3 awards for best body build and he is 50 yrs old.

Scales vary widely...use one scale if a variance bothers you, and track what matters--what you've lost according to that scale. What I use at home is dramatically different that my Doctor's scale (which is +8-10 pounds).

Life's too short to be miserable over numbers not matching...

My Wii scale and my bathroom scale are almost always within a pound of each other. Are you using the foot casters on your balance board? I've heard if you have thick carpet it can affect the scale if you aren't using those foot extender thingies. Either way, make sure you are taking your measurements as well as weighing, because it is very possible you are turning fat into muscle and losing inches. Keep it up! If you are noticing a difference physically, that is what matters!

OK, I've been working out 'sorta' for about a month and a half. Then, I started the Couch to 5K last week and for the past 2 weeks I have been hard at it. My husband and I both have noticed changes in my body...but the scales haven't changed!!!

So, this morning I got on my bathroom scales and they say I've lost 4 or 5 pounds (it's a dial type scale and i'm too near sited to really see if it's 4 or 5). So I got real excited...FINALLY...it's budging.... Then, I got on my Wii and it says I lost .4 pounds....yes that is point 4 pounds...as in less than half a pound.

Has anyone else had any problems like this?

Gayle
