You know that you can do this and you know it has worked for you. I had such a rough first week when I was detoxing from sugar, that I never want to go through that again, so if I am hungry I have found having extra protein helps, but doesn't slow down my weight loss. I know you can do it. We all can. emoticon Every day is a new day to start fresh.
Suzze.

These last two weeks have been a real challenge to me. I have seen no weight loss but no gain either. I have cheated too much to loose. Yesterday was the worst. I ate everything in sight, and none of it good. Chips, cookies, pie, cake. A little bit of each. I do well at home staying on the plan but this was at work where I have my biggest problem. Back to the straight and narrow. I will stay on the plan and loose these 20-30 lbs!!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:
Just a few more days and I get to weigh in and bring out the tape measure to see how I've done since starting on 9/12. Had I stayed OP religiously through the past year and a half I believe I would be in maintenance by now - or at least transition.

I had over 120 lbs to lose in order to get to a healthy weight. However, there were milestone birthdays, a visit from grandchildren I hadn't seen in 6 years, a beautiful vacation, a girls weekend getaway, retirements, etc. In other words life got in the way. Although I was down 85 lbs by 7/13, after all those life moments came and went, I was up 15 lbs by the end of 12/13. And it's NOT because the program doesn't work it's because I went straight from the frying pan into the fire! When I went off plan I never bothered to go through transition. I just went off plan. Even though I was eating healthy foods (berries, apples granola, sweet potatoes, red wine, dark chocolate, nuts) I learned the hard way that this was a major no-no.

I'll be honest, many people who have done what I did also had a hard time getting back OP and following it to the letter. It is definitely a mindset. I struggled through it for the last few months of 2013. January 1st was my new focus date to continue on with the TSFL and to finish what I started. As of last week I was down 12 lbs since 1/1/14. Only 3 lbs to go and I'll be back where I was in July 2013. I'm not certain why its taking a bit longer this time to see the results on the scale. However, I will continue on until I reach my healthy BMI. I just wanted to share with every one here who has struggled and felt like it wasn't working anymore. It does work and you know it does! You just have to put yourself in that mindset again. (Hold your nose and swallow your medicine - LOL!!) The results WILL eventually come. You'll start to feel healthy again; it WILL show on the scale and how your clothes fit. You will mentally feel better about yourself again, too.

I'm starting to realize why they call this struggle a journey. There's hills and valleys just like with any trip you take. My advice is to use the tools on the internet for support and guidance. I was told by a successful coach that human interaction is very important and she was right. As I used the TSFL website forums and chat areas I found other people who were struggling just like me and continued to move on to the finish line. Their advice and suggestions to move forward were a BIG help to me. There's even you tube videos of people who've had success and struggles on the plan you can watch. Also, try to join in on the nurses or doctors calls that they have during the week through the TSFL website. (I think they have them on demand, too, where you can just listen to what took place in the prior weeks.)

One last thing before I close on this beautiful rainy morning (in Nevada) I am NOT a coach. I am just sharing this info from experience - that's all. I dare you to move for 30 minutes today emoticon

I'm checking in with all you Sparks MF losers after a few months. I've been OP since 9/12. I had quite a bit of weight to lose so that's one reason why it's taken so long. Plus, I've had some milestone celebrations this past year. That being said it was also difficult to get back OP 100%. The mindset just wasn't there for some reason. But I started anew on the first of the year and I'm down 11 lbs. I know that's not a lot (compared to the rest of you success stories) but I'm headed in the right direction again. I'm 18 lbs away from having released 100 lbs and I'm 39 lbs away from goal. My latest motivation is My Fitness Pal - . If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it to keep track of your food and exercise. I can use it on my PC, tablet and Smartphone. I like it because I can also keep track of condiments (something I was really never any good at).

I'm going to encourage you to hang in there - if you're struggling. Don't give up! I've been where you're at and I'm coming out of it and moving forward. It's all part of the journey. There's going to be peaks and valleys and that's where I was - IN A DEEP VALLEY! By the grace of God I'm now coming out of it. We're also learning new habits. So go back to the Habits of Health book and start reading again why you're doing this and why you're going to succeed. Hope you all have a blessed Sunday. myfitnesspal.com

This team is pretty quiet it seems. I'm new. Lol. My coach tells me extra salt helps in the beginning. She also suggested broth. I'm guessing you don't reek of pickles, either. Good luck!

This Medifast team has been relatively quiet. What's new? I'd like to interact with anyone on the plan. I started over again yesterday and so far so good. I'm not experiencing the bad headaches I normally do when starting. I'm eating some baby dill pickles this time. I'm wondering if it's doing the trick? I only eat four a day, but I feel like I reek of pickles. It's probably in my head.

How is it going to everyone else?

When I placed my first order, while waiting for my food to arrive I started working on drinking my water and eating on the every 2 1/2 - 3 hour schedule so that it would not be a shock to my system. I also started to work on being mindful of what I was eating (I said goodbye to some of my favorites. I had a last packet of reece's peanut butter cups with a coke then gave up sodas and candy entirely). You could go ahead and start preparing a lean & green meal for dinner, so you get the hang of it ahead of time and try out a few recipes.

The best advice I got when starting the program is to remember that it is a pretty regimented system and if you modify the program, you WILL get modified results. That's not to say that we don't all do it on occasion, we just need to understand that there are consequences (like slower weight loss). We need to eat all 5 MF meals, and the lean & green needs to meet guidelines. I've eaten chicken fajitas when going out to eat. I ask them to go light on the seasonings, have only about 2 tbs total of sour cream & salsa, skip most of the cheese (1 oz of most reduced fat cheese is 1/4 of a lean, so 1 ounce of full fat cheese would be at least that, probably more) and try to eyeball my meat portion to stay within about 5 ounces. Even with taking those precautions, my weight loss was definitely slower the following week. I didn't dwell on it though. I fully enjoyed my meal & was right back on plan immediately afterward. Also keep in mind that the few pounds you have left to go, the stricter you will need to be since the "extras" will count more. Good Luck and Best wishes....you've got this!

So, has anyone ever opened a packet of food and it's not what they thought it was going to be? I've been eating Chicken Wild Rice Soup for lunch for several days now, and the packet I opened today was not the Chicken Wild Rice that I've been having. It was something different, or had some ingredients missing. It came from the same box too. Strange.

Bren - at 10 pounds in 3 weeks, you are losing 3+ pounds a week. You are right in the middle of the 2-5 pounds a week that Medifast says you should lose. You are doing great! If your body is letting go of 3 pounds a week, it doesn't think it's starving.
As for the fajitas, they were probably high in sodium, making you retain water, and probably cooked in oil, making them high in fat. You probably didn't get all your green, either. Cooked onions are high in carbs and limited on plan (I have eaten them from time to time).
I, personally, don't see choices I make as "cheating." I may choose something at a restaurant that is not 100% on plan, but I stick to the basics - no obvious starches - and pick a choice that doesn't leave me deprived. It's a choice I made. I make the plan work for me.

My biggest advice to anyone on plan is not to sweat the small stuff. Stay away from the obvious offenders - sweets, breads, starches - and let the plan work for you.

Sounds like you're doing great. Keep at it!

Mickie

Good Day-

I am currently on my 20th day of medifast and have only lost about 10lbs (I have about 50 left to lose). I was wondering if I added another snack (would be 3 total) if that would help me lose quicker. I think I am starving myself. I currently exercise 3x a week.

Also, I went to applebees with some friends and had the chicken, steak, and shrimp fajitas ( I could not stomach another salad) without the tortillas or sides and I shared it with a friend. I tried to figure out the nutritional info, but, I could only find it for the full meal (1500 calories for a fajita meal, no wonder I am so big!!)

Was this cheating?

Thanks for the help!

Be realistic.

Seriously, did that happen overnight!!

Hi - I'm so geared during the day but when I get home from work it's beginning to be a free for all within reason :) I seem to pick at off plan things and it's derailing my weight loss. I am full in the belly but empty in the head. My husband doesn't understand that I have issues with food that is not the best choices around the house. I'm venting here, I know what I have to do and all the right things to do except eat but it's the mind over body thingy. I do so well over the day time at work because I keep busy so I know that keeping busy at night is the key as well. I am so close to my goal but it's inching away. Thanks for listening

Hi all,

Checking in.

Things are still going well. I'm so much in a groove I find myself following the plan without really even thinking about it. I like that. :)

Right now I'm struggling with my almond snack. I like to have some almonds after I get home from school. It's my hungriest time of the day, and my mid-afternoon Medifast meal doesn't quite satisfy me. Crunch and salt are also my biggest de-stressors, and I find myself needing de-stressing after school, LOL.

So, instead of the 1/2 ounce/1 handful, I find myself eating 2 or 3 handfuls before I turn around.

I found later in the week that if I drank a bottle of water with my Medifast meal, that helped with the hunger, but I still kept reaching for extra almonds.

I guess it's just something I'm going to have to discipline myself about. The "eating just because I want something and not because I'm hungry" has GOT to be broken before I hit goal.

I'll figure it out....

Besides that, though, I'm doing well. Skipping treats and special meals; handling eating out just fine. I'm finding myself a little more tempted than I have been to have "just a bite" of things that aren't on plan, but I haven't been giving in to it.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Mickie

Thanks, Belinda! It's always good to hear from you. Okay - so let's all work on our mojo this week. My daughter is now with us and is an encouragement in the exercise department. I'm with you Belinda - here's to 100% committment this week.

Mickie - seeing your patterns is a huge accomplishment. Thank you for bringing it to the table. I've got to get busy - my sister comes from Alaska for Christmas and has lost alot of weight, so we want to look good too!

I hope you all have a good week and it's good to be back. Thanks y'all!

Hi Beth, glad to hear from ya! I wasn't on sparks much the last several days......busy busy busy! We took a little road trip on impulse and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, I somehow managed to leave behind my bag with my medifast!!!! So I have been off plan 2 days.....ugh! I didn't do too bad, but I haven't done real well the last few weeks with a slip here and there. Very dangerous ground for me! So today I am re-committing 100% and plan to make sure I am in the gym at least 3 times a week also. I need to get my mojo back too Mickie! Heres to a better week for us all!

Hi all,

Sorry I'm so scarce. Weeks are just too busy for any computer chat time. I try to get caught up on the weekends, but some weekends even that is hard.

I was in one of those "not feeling it" weeks. PMS hit me pretty hard. I stuck to the plan - with the exception of a few extra almonds - but my mojo has been lacking.

I have found this happens every PMS week, so I just stick to the plan and wait for the mojo to return. I'm feeling better this weekend than I was middle of the week.

Hope everyone is hanging in there, Keep on keeping on!

Mickie

Just a quick check in - I've finally got all my travelling behind me and moving my daughter back home to Texas from California. There's still lots of work to do in the guest house and so little time. I haven't been 100% on plan, but I HAVE lost another 12 lbs. Hopefully now that we're all back home I can focus in one direction. Looks like you guys are all doing well. I'm not able to check in every day, but do want to stay connected and check in as often as I can. Back soon!

DEFINITELY order the crunchy/salty stuff! It is probably what is keeping me on plan. I, too, destress with salt and crunch. The honey mustard pretzels are my favorite, but all of the crunchy stuff works for me. I ordered more of it for my next shipment, and only 1 box of soup (going to try the chili) and 1 box of shakes.

It has been a rough week, but if we stay focused and determined to stay on plan, it will work!

Hope everyone's coming week is a little smoother!

Nwcountrydancer, I am the same with the salty crunch. I like the puffs and the bites, even though the bites are kinda dry I still like them with a bottle of water. Seems everyone had a little bit of a rough week. We can do this!

Not doing my Medifast on plan as I should be. I was pretty good the first couple weeks but have been bad lately. I am a stress eater and it has been pretty stressful at work. I am one of those that crave salty thing when I eat. Medifast has more sweet than salty, so it is hard for me. I need to get back on track.

Every day may not be good, but there is good in every day.~Author Unknown

Hi all,

We have been blessed with a beautiful Saturday, too. I think we're going to work out in the yard. The garden boxes need cleaning out, and the blueberry bushes need weeding. Nothing I really want to do - I'd rather sit on my butt and watch football all day - but it needs to be done, and this might be one of our last really nice weekends.

I had a booger of a week. We had Monday off and then the rest of the week was like 5 (or more) days crammed into 4. I had somewhere to be every night - which really puts a drain on me. And the days at school were just crazy.

My son is an 8th grader and is "marching up" with the high school band this year. We didn't join the band boosters this year b/c he'll only be a part of the HS band through football season, and we sort of wanted to observe how things worked. We got a call Wednesday asking if we'd work in the concession stand at the football game Friday night. When you work the stand, you get there an hour and a half before the game and work the whole game plus clean up. Yikes. It wasn't a horrible experience (being a Jr. High mom, teacher, and club sponsor I've worked Jr. High football and basketball concessions), but it was tiring.

I feel completely wiped out this morning. I woke up around 7:30 because dd had to be at volleyball clinic at 8. Dh was dear enough to take her, and I went back to sleep. I kept waking up and looking at the clock, but I couldn't get myself up. I finally made myself wake up after 11.

So...I had my first Medifast meal (eggs) at noon. I'm going to have to be eating all the time today to get my meals in.

My plan is to use tomorrow to really rest and get ready for the coming week.

Hope everyone has a glorious weekend!

Mickie

Good morning! It's a beautiful sunny saturday here after having rain all week. I slept in a bit and then got up and got the laundry going. My original plan was to take Saturdays off from working out but I didn't go yesterday my transmission went out on my Honda.....@#%$ Hubby had the truck (he works evenings currently) and I hate driving the corvette cause my legs are short and holding in the clutch is a pain LOL....that only leaves the Harley and I don't drive that at all.....LOL I wouldn't mind missing a day except that gets me in trouble....also, confession, I had an off plan moment last night and totally went over my calories and carbs! I am pretty upset with myself, but stuff happens. I am right back on track and I'm not going to beat myself up about it. So I will be hitting the gym later on today.........We are headed to the fair tonight and I'm excited about that, I love the fair! Must stay away from all forms of fair food though.....LOL! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!

Emotional exerciser instead of emotional eater, haha. We should all have the goal to be that way!! I know I would be a lot better off! Hope everybody has a great weekend!

How are you all feeling? I am almost 3 weeks in and can't wait to start working out! I figure after this monday (I have to get a root canal monday.. ucky) I am going to start working out. I can't wait, it is such a wonderful stress relief. I keep thinking.. if I had been an emotional exerciser instead of an emotional eater.. wow.. I'd have a rockin body! This last week was a challenge to get through and I still stayed on plan! That right there is a wonderful sign of progress, even if the scales hadn't cooperated. And, even though I was up 2 lbs this week I got into a pair of jeans I bought at the beginning of summer and couldn't button! AND my wedding ring has been feeling looser! SO I encourage everyone to take a look at the little things, progress is more then that little number on the scale.. (that I seem to always have to peek at... oy!) (I am a chart junky.. I LOVE tracking it on Sparks) Well, I hope you guys have some wonderful weekend plans. Taking it pretty easy over here.

We can all be Lean, Mean Fat Burning Machines!

Good morning! It's pouring rain here and quite dreary......Just put the grandbaby down for a nap and ready to spark a little bit. I'm back in the gym and remembering how good it feels after an intense workout (well at least for me, LOL) My plan is 3 days a week strength training, Mon Wed Fri, and cardio Sun - Fri. I take Saturdays off. I'm using a strength training routine that the personal trainer I went to last year made for me. I can only imagine where I would be right now if I had stuck to it before. That's water under the bridge now, so no looking back only forward!
So let's go team! Work it this week! emoticon emoticon

Belinda- emoticon it is so encouraging to hear such a great testimony. That is the kind of thing that makes me feel like I can do it too. When I get to 160, there's going to be a lot of hooting and hollering!!

Mickie- I like your story too. It makes me want to do a "biggest loser" at work also. My goal at the end of July was 60 pounds by Thanksgiving. I am down about 30. My average is about 2 pounds a week also. WW was my last plan, and I too, fought cravings. Giving up sugar/excessive carbs has been so good for my body. I never thought it would be possible to not have so many cravings. It feels good to be able to take respondsibility for my health, and it feels good to feel good. emoticon
PS I want to pass dh too. looking forward to that :

I am beautiful, wellness is my new normal.
Goal 1: 60.4 pounds by Thanksgiving.
Goal 2: TBD after Goal 1 accomplished.

Belinda - I so understand your gratitude. I've never experienced this kind of success. The last time I lost and hit goal (WW, 12 years ago), I was losing, but not at 2 pounds a week. And I still fought cravings and times of going off plan. This has just been incredible for me.

More people started to notice my loss this week (I've lost 17) and started asking what I'm doing. So I've been able to praise the plan.

I've participated in a Biggest Loser challenge at work for the last several years (we do a round each grading period). Mostly I've just thrown $$$ at it. I won part of the pot one time. This time, there are only 4 of us participating, and I'm the only one losing (and losing big). There have been several weeks they've forgotten to weigh. And for the first time, I'm WANTING to get on the scale! So...I should win a little bit of cash by the end of this week. I've lost about 10 pounds during the challenge; my goal was 5.

I don't know if they'll do it again next grading period or not. It's the "tough" one with the holidays. I'll probably up my goal a bit, but I'm not yet ready to commit to 2 pounds a week. I just don't know how long that will last.

One of the girls told me Thursday (our weigh days), she was going to have to get busy or I was going to pass her and that would make her mad. LOL. I've still got almost 20 pounds before I pass her, but I can get there!

I should pass dh in another 10 pounds or so. THAT will feel good! I may have weighed less than him ONCE in our entire relationship (we started "going out" when I was 14, married 7 years later, been married 18 years).

Alright...enough rambling from me. Y'all have a great weekend. We have a 3 day weekend, and I'm very thankful for it.

Today I just want to express my gratitude for the medifast plan. I have NEVER had any kind of real success losing weight. It has been more than 14 years since I weighed below 160, and now 19 weeks in I'm down 47.8 pounds at 159.2 pounds! I feel amazing!

Nicki, don't be too hard on yourself. Part of the reason medifast works is eating every 2 or 3 hours so you don't get too darn hungry. It might help to keep a few different medifast meals in your desk so if you're not in the mood for one thing you will have something else. If it's just a chew factor maybe a couple of dill pickles (they are allowed). Hang in there, once you get a week totally on plan, I swear it gets easier!

Oh my gosh!!! Everytime I think I am doing good again, I screw it up. I was so busy at work today and didn't stick to my original meal plan today of what and when I was going to eat and then had absolutely no desire to eat soup like originally planned so opted for a bar and snack and so what do I do but freakin grab a big handful of M&Ms from the front counter. I am so tired of being on track and then screwing it up like that. Nicki

I survived the Birthday Dinner! I ate what I planned to eat and then stopped. While it was a small portion, it was the first breaded/fried thing I've eaten in almost 2 months, and my tummy protested a bit.

It amazes me how food - like the fries, noodles, stuffed mushrooms, and cake there last night that I normally would have over-done - just doesn't talk to me anymore. I see it, I think about how I would like to have some, but I don't obsess over it and I don't argue with it. I see you...I'm not eating you. End of story.

I'm completely back on plan today and will have my normal L&G.

My cold has gone to my ears and I'm dealing with some dizziness. It's better today than it was last night; I hope it's gone by tomorrow.

Have a great week!

Hi all,

It's been a good - but extremely hectic - week.

I had a super-hungry day on Wednesday. I felt weak a good part of the day, like I haven't felt since Day 3 on the progarm. But it was much better on Thursday, and Friday I was not hungry to the point I was almost forgetting to eat (very unlike me).

I came down with a cold on Thursday. Blech. Zicam and Mucinex D seem to be keeping it from getting to bad, but I still feel yucky.

Tonight will be my first big challenge. It's "Birthday Dinner" (for my s-i-l and dd) at my in-laws' house. I called and asked about the menu. It's not particularly Medifast-friendly, and won't classify as a Lean and Green, but I've decided what I'll have and what I'll avoid. I'm not going to stress over it or worry about it. I'm going to eat what I chose, enjoy it, and carry on with the plan. And stay off the scale for a few days (which I would do anyways since TOM is on its way).

I'm really feeling much more comfortable staying off the scale. Since I know my body's pattern, I'm just not worrying about the scale. And I thought about getting on mid-week this week, but I wanted my official 170s to be a "surprise" this morning. I'm so funny, LOL.

Hope everyone had a good week and will have a restful weekend!

Happy Tuesday everybody!

I hope everyone's having a great day. It's dreary and dark here in North Central Ohio. Hopefully the sun decides to shine one of these days. emoticon

Hi all,

Sorry I've been so absent. The last week or two have been CRAZY.

My Marine brother, his wife, and 2 month old baby stayed with us this past week. They live in NC, and are about to be transferred to Biloxi, MS (actually my s-i-l is staying in NC until their house sells).

It completely turned my routine upside down. I got less sleep, was a little over-stressed, and was a lot fatigued.

BUT...I stayed on plan. Before Medifast, a week like that would have had me searching for whatever food might give me a boost and keep me going. I did search out a little more caffeine than normal, but I was NOT on a "food hunt" at all during the week. With all the family meals and family time (normally big triggers for me), I stayed on plan.

For one, all the sugar and gunk is out of my body, which has quieted the cravings monster. And I think having MY food always available, where I don't have to choose or negotiate with the food being offered, is a huge part of being able to stay on plan.

I have a "big" food event coming up next week that I need to plan for. My in-laws are cooking "Birthday Dinner" for my dd and another sister-in-law. They are phenomenal cooks, but not always the cleanest of cooks, LOL. I knew this dinner would come, and when I first started Medifast, I thought, "This might be one of those choose-to-go-off-plan meals, pay for it, and get right back on." But I really don't want to sacrifice how calm I am around food right now. I don't want to reawaken the cravings monster.

So...I'm going to have to find out the menu and think long and hard about what I'm going to choose to eat. I'll figure it out, and I know I'll do great.

Besides the birthday dinner, this week should be a little more "normal," whatever that is, LOL.

I probably won't get to check in till next weekend, but I try real hard to read and keep up when I get email notifications.

Have a great rest of the weekend and a great week!

Just a quick note - my dog chewed my computer charge cord in two, so I can't get online at night. As soon as the new one comes in, I'll be back online! Doing well here - hope y'all are too!
