Hello All:
Checking in: After two weeks of losing nothing, I am down 2 pounds today. Even better, I am off ALL my diabetes and hypertension meds. Now that is good news! Nutrition support suggested that I increases my protein and cycle between low and high carb vegetables. I am re energized. But I am still extremely hungry before I get my lean and green meal.

Could it be a hormonal cycle? Evidently lots of hormones are stored in fat cells and there's a flood of them released as the pounds come off. Of course, that's anecdotal -- I haven't checked the science. It makes sense to me...

And also, if you have eaten at any restaurant at all, the sodium and other goodies can make you retain water.

Hang in there, it will start moving in the direction you want it to go!

Hello All:
Week #1 I lost 7lbs. Week #2 I gained .6. I stayed on plan, ate all my meals, drank all my water. I had a lot of social engagements and I stuck to raw veggies and ate my lean protein when I arrived home. I am disappointed, but not discouraged. There is no way I will not lose weight eating 900 calories a day!

This is just another reason why weighing in every day can prove disappointing. One day, I'm down two pounds (finally!) and the next, back up. We're in it for the long haul, so just continue working the program and it'll work!

I read a great article once about being COMMITTED to a plan vs merely being INTERESTED in it (weight loss being the plan).

When I first started MF, I was committed; nothing made me stray from the plan because I KNEW it would work, and it did.

But as I let weight creep back on and then tried to recapture my commitment, I never really got invested more than being INTERESTED, which doesn't work...

Now, I'm back to commitment and starting to see tiny results.

Yep, sodium can certainly do it. If it's one thing I've learned while on this plan is that my weight can fluctuate 5 lbs up-or-down depending on what I had the day before. Don't lose heart - it WILL come off.

Last week I lost 1.9 pounds - a little low for week 2, but I'll take it. However, this week I'm up 2 pounds! The only off plan I had was one evening of Chinese food - broccoli beef. Was it the sodium???? Help!

Still hanging around the 185 range. Between work, volunteering & home I've been too focused on other things instead of myself. I need to work the plan the way it was designed - not halfway. Finally got the almonds out of the house, and now I just need to stop tweaking certain meals. Live and learn that's for sure.

The Summer Meltdown Challenge is a motivator for me. Man! The pot is over $43,000 so hopefully a number of people will win (including me). I hope everyone has a good strong week and will get out and enjoy some springtime weather.

We're getting ready to kick-off a 6-week Meltdown Madness Challenge with TSFL and MF. The ante is $20 AND it's not all based on who loses the most weight. It sort of works like the "Spark" website. You get points for almost everything you do (logging in your food, exercise, posting on the challenge board, etc..). The pot is over $21,000 at the moment and it will be split amongst those with the highest points.

If you're interested send me your email address and I will send you an "invite". This is the first challenge I've ever entered and it's got me a little excited. I'm hoping this is the little push that I needed to get the last 25 lbs off for good! emoticon

Hello, I just wanted to share my progress so far. I had my in-body today and have lost a total of 46 pounds (started at 220 and am now 176) and a total of 37.5 inches off my body! I have gone from a size 18 to a size 11! This has been all in 5 months and it is so exciting to see the results and know that if you stick to the diet, it does work!

I can so identify! Initially, I lost a quick 60 pounds and think I got too comfortable. Then, life got in the way with a major spinal surgery, a foot injury that sidelined exercise for a year, and then blah, blah, blah! A weight gain of 30 pounds, lots of shame, clothes that no longer fit, and a body that really feels the extra weight! In fact, I blew out my knee a month ago and learned that I've got arthritis in both knees, so no doubt the regain of 30 pounds has put extra strain on them.

So I got back on plan (or so I though!) back in January and have lost about 5 pounds. Seriously, I write that and know how crazy it is! If I were truly OP, the weight would melt off, right? Although I believe my body is 'smarter' now and more willing to adapt to the reduced calories and carbs that MF provides. I'm sick to death of the foods and found myself online the other day searching for ways to lose weight. Of course, it all comes down to MF being the best way that fits my lifestyle. Someone posted a great blog post here that resonated with me so I know what needs to be done.

I'll try to check in more frequently, too!

Just checking in here to keep the thread going. Down almost 17 lbs since the first of the year. That's not much, but at least the scale is going in the right direction again for me. You see, I've been OP since 9/5/12. I was strictly focused for the first 10 months then a number of life's milestones came into the picture last summer and I celebrated a little more than necessary. The scale certainly went up-and-down frequently.

My original plan was to be OP for a year. (I figured the 110+ lbs I needed to get off would've been gone by then.) However, I didn't realize how much weight a person could put on in such a short amount of time if you don't go through transition. I have to say I learned the hard way.

At the time it discouraged the heck out of me, and it was so hard for me to stay motivated. By Thanksgiving, I was so-o-o-o-o tired of being on a diet. For some reason I couldn't wrap my head around it. I struggled severely around the holidays. It took me a while to get my head screwed back on straight. The best way I can describe it was like being halfway up a mountain and trying to start a bicycle ride uphill. But this was just another thing I had to learn about the program so I could put into my "tool bag" of experience.

One of the coach's I speak with online frequently told me to maintain "human contact" with others on the program. So I listened to the Nurse's Calls and the Doctor's Calls; I watched interviews with Dr. A on You Tube; I conversed with other coaches online for support and encouragement; I came here to SparkPeople to see how folks were doing; I speak with Nutrition Support on occasion and I'm in a weekly webinar with another coach and her client's. Now that I look back, that coach's advice was crucial for me. I firmly believe if it weren't for all of these tools I'm not sure where I'd be now. But I'm so glad that all these people were there for me.

Now I'm focused again and looking forward to reaching my goal. When will that be? It'll happen when it happens. Because I'm not on a diet I'm on a plan for Optimal Health - that's my goal! Losing weight will just be a part of the benefit. I've got somewhere between 25 & 35 lbs to go before I hit goal. I can remember when I was just down 25 lbs and thought "I have so far to go." And now here I am on the downside looking at just 25 left to lose.

How's your week going????

I wouldn't change anything just yet. The program is working and if you start adding more food it's easy to make other tiny changes that'll get you off track (believe me, I'm there now!).

It's natural to be tired when you're new to a program. You've only been doing the food for a little over three weeks; MF doesn't even recommend exercising until you've been on the food for that long.

For me, exercise first thing in the morning is the easiest because my energy level is at the highest. Plus, when I get it out of the way early, my metabolism is stoked all day and I enjoy feeling like I got the exercise done. You're giving yourself a very nice gift right now: food that guarantees you'll lose weight. Perhaps the next nice gift would be to give your body the rest it apparently wants/needs right now. Getting to bed a little earlier will definitely help you feel more rested in the morning, which will translate to easier workouts without needing more food.

You may also be trying to train too hard at this early stage in the weight loss journey. Many people lose roughly the same amount of weight without any exercise. Not that I'm recommending you quit, but check in with yourself and make sure you're not overdoing things.

If you're familiar with Gary Taube's Why We Get Fat, you know that 80% of weight loss is due to what we eat.

Hang in there!
Valerie

Great to see everybody! What a fantastic group- I'm so amazed by your progress. I started on Jan 5, so I am on my third week, and have released 13 lbs. Other than the first week, it hasn't been too bad, but the calorie restrictions are difficult when you are trying to exercise. I figure the answer is an early morning class, but that's easier said than ....zzzzzz. JK. I know I really need to get to bed early to make this happen. My trainer at the gym talked with me about this, and she said to double up on the veggies for the L&G. I am a little worried to "stray" from the exact prescription, but I think I'm going to give it a try. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I held my own this week. While I would like to have seen a loss, I'll take it. Part of it could be my body's classic resistance to losing several weeks in a row, part of it choices I made this week.

But I know what to tweak and how to approach the coming week.

I've made it 2 weeks!

Another 0.8 down; 17 to go.

I'm feeling in a groove, getting that "skinny feeling" (i.e. the bloat is going away), and feeling calmer around food.

All good things, and all reasons why I decided to bite the bullet and go back on plan.

Looking forward to seeing the scale next weekend. Will also be looking at getting some treadmill time in soon, since the dizzies and headaches are gone.

Hope everyone has a good week!

I know how much this is a cause for celebration, Mickie! We can do this.

I've been on plan since January 1st. While many first-timers will have lost a ton by then, I'm only down 2 pounds. But I know as a type 1 diabetic, it's always going to be--and has been--slower for me, so I need to be ok with that. I've also done the same as you, good loss one week, then nothing for two.

I'll be 55 in December (gasp!). I want to be back to the slimmer me by then. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi all,

I've completed a week+ on plan! It's been a LONG time - since last March, maybe? - since I've had a week without a fall-apart.

I lost 2.6 this week. Part of me would loved to have seen a big 5 pound loss, but the smaller loss will make it more likely I'll see a loss again next week.

I was an every-other-week loser on the plan last time. Big loss…no loss or even a slight gain…loss…maintain/small gain…over and over and over again. I think I'd rather see a little something each week.

This week: rinse & repeat. Two weeks without a fall-apart will really be something to write home about!

Can't wait to see some numbers I haven't seen in a few months!

Have a great week!

Mickie

Valerie - I read "Refuse to Regain" by Barbara Berkeley before entering transition (and rereading it this week was what convinced me to jump back in), and one of her rules of maintenance was to weigh daily.

While on plan and losing, I - like you - had to weigh only once a week. Any more messed with my brain.

But weighing daily - and at least frequently or regularly - since then has probably saved me from gaining any more or any quicker than I have.

I'm still weighing daily; I haven't decided if I need to go back to weekly while trying to get the 20 pounds off. We'll see how the brain does, LOL.

Wow Valerie that describes me to a tee. I start out with good intentions breakfast no problem, mid morning snack no problem, lunch no problem then begins my afternoon and dinner train wreck. I've been beating myself up for the last few days. Your message has been inspiring. So with renewed determination I will start where I'm at and get back on track. Thank you

One of the biggest things I know to stick with (for the rest of my life!) is to WEIGH MYSELF DAILY. It's so easy to skip a few weeks and then find you're 5-6 pounds out of range, which can be depressing enough to slide into even more gaining.

So while I only weigh once a week while on plan, I'm declaring right now: when I reach goal (AND I WILL!!!!), I will weigh myself DAILY so I don't repeat what's happened over the last year.

Valerie - Sounds like we're in similar boats. I decided beating myself up and sending myself on a guilt trip was not going to be effective at all. I am where I am (on the scale), and I start here.

I/we did it before, and I/we can do it again.

I officially restarted yesterday, and my weight was 170.4. My goal is 150.

Here we go!

Sigh. Well, ok, this is my reality. I'm not going to look back and beat myself up over how much I've gained, since that's only going to dampen my spirit.

So, two 'perfect' days down, and I got on the scale today to update my ticker. The sober reality is that I've regained 33 pounds after losing 60. Not good.

The part that mystifies me is that I truly 'caught' the gain when I was 26 pounds lighter than I am today. I'd get on the scale, express shock, swear to do better, and then disregard my true desire. It's actually quite interesting, to want one thing--to even believe that you're working toward it!--and do the complete opposite. I'd start out my morning with good intentions, eating MF food, and then find myself losing my will later in the day. I've identified after dinner as one of my worst trigger times.

I've bought some nice tea (Numi Chocolate and another Vanilla Chai) to have after dinner as a sweet note (I use pure sucralose in my coffee and tea). I'm back to logging every bite, and have come back to 'commitment' rather than 'interest' in losing. (Linda Spangle's e book is helpful).

So, my ticker is updated. My pantry is stocked. My foot is pretty much healed (broke it in November) so I can start exercising. No excuses, no drama, no disappointment...just moving forward to prove I can do it again. Happy New Year!

It's actually a jelly, sweet like regular cranberry jelly. Since you can't have fruit at all on MF it's a great substitute and zero everything! All their dressings are awesome and you can order individual packets of them on line. I keep them in my purse when I go out for a salad. The honey Dijon, balsamic , and ginger are all wonderful on chicken too!

I've heard good things about Walden Farms- I'll have to check them out! Is the cranberry relish sweet? Cranberries are good in a wrap with chicken breast, saffron mustard and lettuce. I'm not sure how that would fit in the Medifast plan.

Forgot to mention Walden Farms cranberry relish saved me at Thanksgiving and is great on pork and chicken too. Zero calories, amazing! All the Walden farms products have helped me so much I plan to continue them even when I'm off of MF

Hi Everyone, with the temptations of holiday food everywhere thought I'd share a couple low calorie treats I am enjoying. Sugar free caramel apple hot cider k cups are wonderful! Just 10 calories and you'd never guess it. And my most favorite hot chocolate. I mix sugar free almond milk with walden farms chocolate syrup, heat in the microwave for 1 minute and top with redi whip , only 45 calories and it's wonderful! I have one (or both!) every evening and it really helps my sweet tooth.

Greetings! SOOVERMYSELF: I'm sorry to hear about your cholesterol. I am lucky and able to control my cholesterol levels by eating healthy- well, if I eat healthy. I'm so happy to hear that transition seems to be right around the corner for you! That has to be an awesome feeling. I've struggled so much lately, but I seem to have found some motivation, so maybe I can finish this off too.

I'm struggling with the whole Medifast thing right now. I totally went off for a few weeks, and now I'm sort of back on. I'm really only filling the empty slots with Medifast and I'll be going back to the 4 & 2 instead of the 5 &1. This morning I had a pancake with blueberries. It was a treat! I'm recording on SP and watching my numbers...calories, protein, carbs, and cholesterol. I'm not up for the strictness of Medifast right now, but I hope to get back to it if I need to.

How is everyone else doing???

Well my Blood work confirms I have inherited high cholesterol so it's back to statins for me. But my good cholesterol was much better than before I started medifast. I experimented a little this week and had a glass of wine on a few nights, gave up my 5th meal each time and I still lost so I am happy! As the holidays approach I want to be able to enjoy myself but not go crazy, yet, lol! I am planning on giving myself 4 days around Christmas to have yummy things. Figure whatever damage I do in that little time will come off in a couple weeks and hopefully I'll be able to slide into transition right after the holidays. I've decided my new goal is 69 lbs total which would put me in a place I haven't been in a long time, maybe even too thin( never thought those words would come out of my mouth!) but I am up for the challenge. Happy November everyone!

Bargainshpr hang in there! 19.2 lbs gone is wonderful!
Have you tried having optional snacks like laughing cow cheese, pickles or olives? Flavored fizzy no calorie water has really helped me. When I think I could eat something extra first I guzzle it to make sure I'm not just thirsty which does take the edge off.or have an extra medifast meal when you're tempted, I like the BBQ bites cause you get a lot and if you pair them with any drink they swell up in your tummy! Some days are harder than others so be kind to yourself 😊

I started Medifast June 1 2013. I agree once your in the zone MF works the lbs come off. I've lost 19.2 lbs. I have another 11 lbs to go. However, the last 3 weeks I've gotten lazy, lost my momentum. I've gained back 3 lbs. I'm struggling with getting back on track. I've been struggling with drinking 8 glasses of water. My day starts out well eating on plan 6am, 9 am and 12 noon then it takes a nosedive when I get to 3 o'clock I get afternoon cravings/munchies. Then because I ate food high in calories, fats, and carbs I do one of two things I either stop eating for the rest of the night or I figure I blew it so I continue my eating binge and wait for tomorrow to start fresh. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas to help me get back on track.

6 months ago today I started Medifast and I am proud to say goodbye to 50.4 lbs! In the beginning the thought of being on any program long term was rather daunting, but the summer just flew by and I have to say it was really pretty easy. I don't want to minimize that it is hard work, and you must stay focused ,but compared to other ways I have tried to lose weight, once your are in the zone on Medifast it truly becomes second nature. Once you start losing it's just not worth giving up your past efforts for that piece of cake. I have beaten my sugar monster and though I still look forward to treats at Christmas time I don't have the sick addictive craving for them I used to have. So to everyone just starting out know that YOU CAN DO IT TOO! Don't let anyone dissuade you, reward yourself along the way with what ever you love besides food, and don't be so hard on yourself. For me it's on to 65 lbs gone! Have a great week everyone!

Soovermyself, what an awesome moment for you! I knew that this week would not be like last week. (I lost 13 lbs last week) I knew I could rebound after such a big loss but I still lost 2lbs this week and that's awesome! I am finding it is true what I have heard here: the food tastes better after being on it for a while. Some things I previously thought were just edible I now think are actually enjoy enjoyable. Hooray for momentum!

Woo Hoo Carolyn, so proud of you! I have followed your lead and set a dr appt. for next week. I stopped taking my cholesterol meds when I started this program( probably not wise) but I want to find out once and for all if my numbers are hereditary or not. Really looking forward to see the results of my blood test.
Today I did something I have not done in years. I walked on the beach in my swimsuit and no cover up. I am lucky to live a little over a mile from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. What an amazing feeling! I am so angry at myself for letting go of the wheel and giving up this most simple joyful pleasure. I should have done this diet a long time ago, but alas I wasn't ready. Now I know anything is possible if you put your heart into it. As soon as I hit my listed goal of 54 I'm jacking it up to 65, maybe even 70 because now I know I can rock my life when I hit my fighting weight! Life is so much more FUN without extra insulation!

Dispatchray, SOOVER, you are doing FANTASTIC WORK!! Woohooo!! Makes me want to fistbump Friday :)

I am on Week 4 of Transitioning/Maintenance. There have been a couple of days where I saw my weight climb, but as of weigh-in day, it was at a steady 153-155, exactly where I wanted to be.

Soovermyself thanks for the encouragement! I appreciate how you are always on here being a positive force for others. I know 13 lbs probably won't happen again and 1.5 lbs per week is a great pace to be at. I will be jumping for joy (and jumping out of my too-big pants) when I'm at 50lbs lost, which you're knocking on that door. Good for you! You know your body is adjusting well at 1.5 lbs per week. Thanks for your positive words and for being an inspiration!

My last post mentioned that I had taken a couple weeks off and I had gained enough to be heavier than I have even been. Well I am happy to report that after 1 week of being back on my body responded really well and I dropped 13 lbs! I'm happy and excited to keep going and have no clothes that fit by Christmas.

Dispatchray hang in there! Once you find your groove it becomes almost automatic and nothing else gives results like medifast!
I'm down 2.4 this week which is on the height side for me so I am very happy! One new thing for me is I'm having more hairs in my brush. My hairdresser was not surprised and told me hair loss is common when you lose a lot of weight and it will come back. I read that some people have good luck with Biotin supplement so I will give it a try. Anyone else have experience with this problem?

So I am starting over. I lost 9 pounds a few weeks ago and had a couple weeks of trainings and conferences that left me unable to run on program with medifast meals so I let myself eat whatever and now I'm heavier than I've ever been at 367. Oh well. Here's to getting back on the horse. I am optimistic for my success and my ability to stay on the program. I learned a lot about what works for me the 2 weeks I was doing medifast and a few things I don't like. So despite being heavier than I've ever been I'm excited to be back on and am ready to start losing some serious weight.

SOOVER, you are doing FABULOUS! I have no doubt that you can get your 50 pounds by Halloween!

You are very right! It's all about balance. If you can learn that while losing weight and carry it over to Maintenance, the pounds will stay off (and that's the really tough part!).

Today the scale showed 44.2 gone so I'm shooting to hit 50 gone by Halloween. When I started this diet I really didn't know what would happen so I chose 54 as my goal. Now I know if I stay on plan the weight falls off so I may up my goal another 10-15 lbs and really get back to my fighting weight! Went to a convention 2 weekends ago and enjoyed a lot of lovely Margaritas which contributed to a weekend gain of 3 lbs! But I was delighted to see that after I jumped right back on plan I had lost all but 1/2 lb of it by my weekly weigh in. So now I know you CAN have days of celebration and recover quickly as long as you take corrective measures. Maintenance- I'm not scared of you now, lol!

EXCELLENT job, team!! We are losing like CHAMPS!!

I weighed in today at 151 pounds, which was amazing because I've been slowly moving into transition and maintenance. Which means, 117 pounds lost since November 16th!!

This week, I'm going to officially let my health coach know I'm ready to move into transition and work my way off my MF meals. I've already started to be more lenient with my foods - less MF meals, more salads (I LOVE Greek salad!), and just a lot of watching what I eat and if my body is hungry (and watching serving sizes!).

Technically, my goal was 145 pounds, which means I have 6 pounds to lose, but after getting such a clean bill of health from my doctor (along with her A-OK at my then-weight of 160) and feeling really great at the weight I am, I am good. I've been ramping up my exercise, adding weights and classes such as Spin and Zumba, so I have no doubt that can help me with those last 6 pounds.

Also, to be honest, I am tired of eating the MF meals. Even choosing different foods and spicing them up with condiments just isn't cutting it for me now. I am "growing up" and ready to move onto more normal meals.

This was hard, but it was SO WORTH IT. And I am ready to test my skills in maintenance!

I have a hard time sticking to the program 100%, but I'm slowly losing. I hate to see where I would be if I wasn't on the program. I like the weekly weigh in at the center and visiting with the gals there, it's my accountability. I don't really know what it truly means to be in ketosis or fat burn stage. I've never been on plan 100% long enough to find out how my body reacts to it. I have a feeling I'd lose big time if I'd stay with it. So, why don't I??? It's the million dollar question.

2nd week done and I have not been terribly faithful to the program. Work and family parties got the best of me. My family has 5 birthdays in September! Anyway, I still lost weight so that's awesome. I actually started at 360, not 355 so I am now down 9 lbs in 2 weeks, which could have been 15lbs if I followed the 5+1 perfectly. I can't believe I am still losing weight with the couple bad days I had. Hopeful for week 3!

Today was 156. I'd be more upset, but I had a couple of iffy weekends. And this week, I've worked out every day (not typical). Yesterday, I was HUNGRY, and not just "I'm bored and want to eat". So I've added an extra meal and some more protein (soy milk, cheese, chicken, nuts, etc.) just to make sure I feel satisfied and I won't gnaw my arm off.

As this does tie into my goal for preparing for Maintenance, one of the things I realized while I was trying to stem my hunger was that it was better for me to choose something like chicken and soy milk than a protein bar, because the protein bar has all that other crap in it. Not saying protein bars are BAD, just that I can't treat them like a foundation for my food intake, or I'm no better than eating candy bars all day.

So part of me feels guilty about my "binge", another part of me is happy I made fairly good food choices, another part is nervous I'll go back to what I was and totally forget everything - so yeah, lots of emotions there! But I'm going to take one day at a time and try not to bite off more than I can chew.

SoOver, all losses are good...congrats!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has issues with the digital scale. I purchased a new one about a month ago and it drives me crazy because it continuously needs to be recalibrated. My regular scale is usually within 1-2 lbs. of the digital scale, so I guess it was a waste of money for me to buy the digital.

EM, thanks!! Even though I didn't really lose this week, I'm happy I didn't gain!

SOOVERMYSELF, you are doing fabulous!! I understand about the scale issues - I want to upgrade mine to a digital scale, but I don't want to end up "gaining" weight! (My scale is soooo inaccurate!)

Wow Carolyn you have come SO far! Fantastic! Well last week I was so happy I had a 5 lb loss so when I stepped on the scale this morning I didn't expect anything. So when I saw a 6 lb loss I knew something was haywire! Seems my wonderful new digital scale had been bumped a couple inches and decided to play with my mind. I learned from the manual that if you move it on purpose or bump it you need to recalibrate it. So I got back on my old balance scale which had matched my new scale when I first bought it. It showed an 8 lb difference-drats! So it would appear my real loss for the last 2 weeks really was 3 lbs.! I was pretty bummed out but since I'm still heading in the right direction I can't be too mad at my pretty little scale 😊

This week I'm at 155 pounds, which means a zero loss from last week. Part of me is upset, but I realize WHY I didn't lose anything (Saturday really did it to me). I also want to make sure I'm not eating so much and overcompensate for the exercising I've been doing.

Better luck next week! I am SO CLOSE to being at goal!!

Oh, and I signed up for my first ever 5K!! I can't wait!

SOOVERMYSELF, that is EXACTLY what I go through too!! Some weeks, I barely lose a pound (I've even GAINED weight - ugh!). Last week, I dropped about 5 pounds! (Some of it I think has to do with my monthly cycle, grrrr!)

Do make an appointment! I had such a WONDERFUL time talking to my doctor, and although she didn't see me pre-weight loss, she was cheering my progress on and SO encouraging! I was terrified she would be like, "you need to lose AT LEAST 5 more pounds to be within your BMI!" but instead she was like, "Eh, you've done a great job. If you want to lose more to boost your ego, go ahead, but it's optional."

If you think of it, have them do a blood test - cholesterol, glucose, etc. I have some numbers pre-weight loss (really old though and not while I was fasting), and I can't WAIT to see how I compare!

Great job everyone!!

I'm always amazed by Medifast. Some weeks you stay on plan and the scale just barely moves and then last week I lost 5lbs! I really can't think of anything I did differently, I am making a concerted effort to drink more water so it does pay off. The longer I'm on Medifast the more I love it.15 weeks today and I'm hoping I can reach my goal by Christmas. I think I'll follow Carolyn's lead and make a Dr. Appt!

Big day today!

Last month, I broke down and made a doctor's appointment, the first one in four years. Today was the day...

And it went AMAZING. First off, the scale read 160lbs, which was lower than I expected! (My home scale is off from the doctor's scale - always!)

Then I told the nurse's assistant about my weight loss, showed her the before/after picture I had taken, and she was like, "OMG, really?!" Everyone in the office was so proud of my achievement!

And I talked with my doctor about my weight loss. When I brought up how I wanted to lose 10 more pounds, I asked her if she thought that was OK. She said that given how far I came and how close I was to a healthy BMI, I would be OK stopping right now but that 10 more pounds was A-OK if it would make me feel better.

Blood pressure was 110/68, heart rate was 83 (HR was a bit higher than I expected, but still OK). No results on blood work yet - I'll update with that information later.

I canNOT tell you how pumped I am! I have never left the doctor's feeling this great, this happy with myself. And knowing my doctor is just happy with my current weight loss and not pushing for me to get under that BMI (which she said was wonky anyway) makes me ECSTATIC.

Last week was a bit disappointing as I bounced back up to 163/163. But this week, I stepped on and saw 160.

Only 15 more pounds to go before I hit goal weight!!

Hello fellow Medifasters,

I am not new to Medifast, but was off plan for 18 months while going through some bad personal stuff. I had ballooned back up to 224 by March and managed to get down to 205 being "sort of" on plan and stalled for six weeks. I then got SERIOUSLY back on plan the last week of June and am finally making good progress.

I was so happy to find this website. Although my coach is great, I find the tools and resources on this website so much more helpful than anything Medifast currently provides. And, it's great to read about the struggles and successes of others on the same journey.

8 lbs! Incredible Carly! I really concentrated on my water this week and it paid off with an extra lb off. I've been pretty steady at just 1.5 or so per week but this week 2.6! Yes yes yes, 31lbs gone for good! I switched to zero calorie watermelon flavored fizzy water from Walmart. I find I can drink it so much easier than plain water and I get a little fruit fix too! Off to buy a case today! Have a good week everyone!

Will do, EM3774!! Thanks for the tip - I make enough of a mess as it is! LOL

SOOVERMYSELF, it's "only" a 3 pound drop from last week. I've been bad about updating my results here, what with my traveling. And totally get you with the water thing - whenever I chince on my water, I don't see as big results on the scale!

Carolyn.... I suggest opening the rootbeer ahead of time so it goes a bit flat or add slowly. Each time I've made it in mt Magic Bullet, I've made a mess. Haven't tried a regular blender yet, they may eliminate the mess. Bon apetite!!

Congrats on your loss!! SO great!!
