I enjoy the blueberry muffins. Not a fan of the Mac and Cheese for two reasons it lacks a cheesy taste and the noodles either don't soften up or soften up too much and becomes mushy. The ziti marinara is very good especially when you add a pinch of Italian seasonings

Congrats to a great first week!

I'm tiptoeing around with MF, after quickly losing 60 pounds. I got too comfortable with my new low weight, feeling great, etc. and have gained back about 25, which is pretty upsetting, to say the least!

But I'm really struggling with being 100% (hell, even 80%!) committed to MF again. I don't know why it's so hard this time, when I know it works.

My biggest dilemma is this: I know it works, so I keep telling myself I need to return to it. But then again, while I was off plan, I was eating very little, staying extremely low carb, only eating while hungry. The only real change has been that I haven't been exercising, due to issues with my feet (which are nearly resolved, finally!). If nothing else, this weight gain has proven how important exercise is!

But in a way, I'm seeing what a trap MF is. I'll keep going back because I know it's proven, and it works, but truly, how can we ever maintain the weight loss when we return to 'real food'? I'm struggling because I'm feeling a bit caught up in a scam.

Hi all!! Im comming to an end with my first week on medifast! I started on tuesday dec 3rd. Just weighed myself and I went from 285 to 275.9!! Total of 9 pounds!! I figured I would join blogs to help myself staying motovated. This is my second time on mf. The first time I was on mf I lost 40 pounds but got off program and gained it all back. I started a week ago with no questions asked I had the food so I just started I felt this was my last resort to weightloss and the only other resort after this would be going to talk to my doctor about weightloss surgery which I really dont want to do!! I am 25 years old and need to get this weight off! My goal weight is aroun 130-140. Considering inhave SOOO much weight to lose im setting 20 pound goals for myself and so far im 1 pound from being half way to my 1st goal! Ive been sticking to plan pretty stict only thing I am doing which is not recommended is I am having 1 grapefruit a day with lunch or after dinner! I feel alot less deprived doing this. What do u guys think about me doing that? Also any recommendations on the new food such as mac and cheese ceareal or blueberry muffin? Thanks for reading =)

Welcome Majenta95 and congrats on taking the first big step! This is such an awesome program. The holidays bring challenges, the first couple weeks have your biggest weekly losses usually so if it were me I would wait till the day after unless you have the willpower to stay away from the potatoes ,bread and desert. Turkey is allowed and so are veggies so it depends on what tempts you the most. Drink lots of water it helps a lot. Good luck to you and keep us updated on your progress.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I got too anxious to weigh, since I've had five really good days since I recommitted to MF. Was rewarded with a four pound loss! I'm determined to reach my goal and know that MF will get me there. I've always said 'the program works if you work it.'

I'm modifying it a tiny bit in that if I'm not hungry, I'm not eating. I've recently finished reading Martha Beck's Four-Day Win and have a new attitude toward my poor body, which I've loathed and belittled for most of my life. I'm taking a gentler approach, using MF as my tool, and staying connected to the journey.

It also depends on what part of the country you're in. I think the shipments all come from Texas, so for me being in Oregon this means it takes like a week for my food to get here using standard shipping.

UPS isn't too good here. They have the delivery date for Tuesday. I've seen them keep packages and won't deliver until the delivery date. So looks like I'll be diving in on Weds.

So upset. I had lost 10.6 lbs in two weeks but just weighed myself again and I'm up 4 lbs since last week! What could have happened? Retaining water? Too much for my lean and green? Help!?!?!

Love the name....Flabsgottago! Haha. I started 2 days before your last weigh-in and have lost 9 lbs so far! I am super excited that the first week went so well. The first three days were agony as my body adjusted to low carbs, but after that I got my energy back and feel pretty great. I had a craving last night for something sweet like chocolate, but ate a bit of cheese (off plan) and was satisfied. I figured that cheating a bit with 0 carb foods is better than cheating with something sugary and loaded with carbs. Good luck!

After 8 mos on TSFL I'm down 75.4 lbs and there's almost 3 ft less of me to look at. I'm below 200 lbs and I haven't been here in 20 years. Today I actually weigh less than what my driver's license states. Got 34 lbs more to go to get into a healthy BMI. This program works! I have no more pain in my knees or back and I can't wait to get back to the gym once I get off the weight loss phase so I can tone up. I check in with my health coach once a week (or whenever I need her) she's been an absolute blessing. I love how this program helps you along the weight loss phase, then through transition all the way into maintenance. They don't just dump you off like so many other programs. My struggle is going to be keeping this weight off FOR GOOD and I believe this program will help me do just that! emoticon

Hi, welcome. The first couple of days were hard for me too. I got headaches and a little bit lightheaded, but it went away after about a week for me.

Congrats on the 4.8 pounds so far. This is a great program, and as long you follow it you will lose (weight, that is!). I'm in my sixth week, and have lost about 25 pounds so far.

Thank you!! :) I am now 4lbs to goal. I've been reading those books every second I get. I am thinking of lowering my goal a bit to have some room to gain back the muscle when I start hitting the gym. This program is so awesome. I'm seriously thinking about becoming a health coach with them to spread the word :)

Going well here. I think I'm at week 12. Down 41lbs. Less than 10 to go! Scared to see transition in my near future, haha. I need to get cracking on my Habits of Health book reading . .I'm not half way thru yet! So exciting. I haven't cheated at all. I've handed out Halloween candy, hosted 2 parties, cooked cookies, brownies and cakes. . and had NONE. I want this goal badly! haha. :)

My first week was very similar!!! I then this week (my 2nd week) got sick with a sinus cold...so that didn't help. but I did feel better this week on my eating...and if i got light headed...its because it was time to eat.

Hi everyone. This is my first progress post. Wednesday will be the start of my second week on MediFast/Take Shape For Life. So far the program has not been too hard. Previously I've juice fasted (I'd recommend) and water fasted (I do not recommend) for health and personal growth so I know what the "hunger" feels like. You adjust when its something you want to do. Someone posted here on SparkPeople that they call them "shrinking pains". Thank you Poster who I can't find to give you credit! After I saw that, I was fine. It helped immensely with my perspective. Now, No Worries.

I've been tracking my intake in SparkPeople just to be sure my vitamins and nutrients are where they should be. Everything seems spot on! MediFast really has this program down!
Tracking in SparkPeople also helps me to make sure I got in every meal, plan my meals so I don't eat just bars :-), make sure I take my vitamins and supplements, and track my water intake and exercise. My only exercise right now is walking my dog which I have to do anyway. Or I'd have a very bad tempered dog.

Thanks for being here everyone. The community on SparkPeople is awesome!

Edit: I forgot to say I have IBS and I've had no gas problems! Don't know why but Love It!

Hi Mickie,
Congratulations!! You are an inspiration. Today is my first day on Medifast and I want to be under 150 pounds too. Your goal weight would be perfect for me too. I have about 40 pounds to lose and so I am hopeful to see some results and to learn along the way!

Thanks for sharing,

Howdy. Here I am trying to earnestly get back into Medifast. It's a mindset for me and a completely lack of enthusiasm. Plus I absolutely HATE the gas! Today I will start again and try to succeed on this program.

Nancy - I think it takes about 3 days to get into fat-burning. So, you should be close! When I first started, I was a little fuzzy-headed for the first couple of weeks, but it did go away. It was also the start of school (I teach 8th grade math), so I was completely wiped out, too, which probably didn't help my transition into Medifast. But I survived!

Good luck!

Mickie

John 15:4-5 - Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

I just started back up with Medifast Wednesday. My head's a little funny first thing in the morning still, but eating and a couple of cups of water fix that pretty quickly.

My scales are down 2.4 lbs since Wed. morning already! Do you think I'm in fat-burning already? Or will the morning head-fuzziness go away completely?

Congratulations, Mickie! So very exciting, isn't it?

I too, have noticed how darn slow the scale is moving now. It's a little hard not to get frustrated.

I've been making plans for when I'm done eating MF food too. One thing I'm going to adopt is the plan that my husband has been on since April (he's lost 49 pounds!). Here's a link to it:

Hi all,

I'm still in the Weight Loss Phase, but I'm nearing Transition. I've been bouncing around a goal weight, and I think I've come up with a plan.

I originally said 143, as that would be 50 pounds on Medifast. But a few things have made me rethink that.

The weight loss has slowed as I get closer to goal, and I don't really want to spend 4-6 months losing the last 15 pounds or so. I'm getting mentally ready to move on to the next phase. I also am not unhappy with my body where I am, so I don't think I have to go all the way to 143 to declare myself "done."

I know I want to be in "normal" BMI range. That's at 154. I want to be under 150. I had thought I would make it 148; that's what I hit when I hit goal on WW (but only stayed for about 15 minutes).

I just thought of the fact that 147 would be 50 pounds from my all-time high. I'm a math teacher, and nice "round" numbers and a sense of symmetry appeal to me, LOL.

So...147 it is.

Depending on where I am in my month of food when I hit 147, I might finish the month before I begin transition. But I'll wait and see about that.

I'm reading "Refuse to Regain," recommended by another Medifast user who is very close to goal. I think it's going to be very helpful. I do NOT want to return to where I was before. I want where I am/will be to be where I am from here on out.

I finally understand the "lifestyle" aspect of this journey that has alluded me for years.

I started MF on May 29th and I've lost 50.5 lbs to date, with only 8 lbs to reach my goal. I went from obese and wearing size 16/18 to a healthy weight currently and wearing loose fitting size 10s. I bought the 10s this weekend and today I realized that they are a little loose at the waist.

I used Spark two years ago to lose weight and I plan to use it again in my maintenance phase of MF to keep my weight in check.

In addition to MF products I use Walden Farms products and PB2. I stopped all exercising 1 month ago as my chronic anemia, which I've been battling since I was a child, is acting up and my GP demands that I take it easy or he will stick me in a hospital with a blood bag in my arm, lol. My anemia is as a result of a genetic disorder and a low thyroid. Ironically, all my other blood work has been excellent since on MF.

Thanks for the support. The liquid diet is only for 2 meals a day and then you eat a healthy meal. They recommend eating the big meal at lunch but it's so hard when you have to cook for family in the evening. So I am joining them at night. My husband is off for 5 days so I'm having a "Pure peace vacation myself!!! (smile)

To ALL. Today I bought "Walden Farms Chocolate syrup". Look it up on the web. You will be supprised at the nutrition counts. It's all "0"!!! I added the syrup to my drink and it was PURE heaven. Like a malt-I also bought the powered peanut butter that is 85% fat free and will add it to my drink tomorrow A "Reeses peanut butter malt drink"!!!
Good day to all,

Hi new group. Just a quick intro about myself. I'm 75 and have tried for 65 years to lose weight and fit into the "norm"!! I was a Tomboy and until 15 years ago I was very active in sports and had a very low esteem problem (helped along by my dear mother).

I always gave up before I even saw results. NOW I have no choice. My past activities and my weight problem have made me unable to walk and enjoy life. Size doesn't matter now it is my life that matters.

I am following the Almase diet (German -powered drink-vegetable broth for for 1 week then introduce low carb healthy food for 1 meal and drink for 2 meals -also all the broth I want.

I am in the stressful 1st day and am constantly thinking of the future and how to get over the real/unreal hunger.

With your consideration I am joining this group to have the understanding of others in the same situation. In fact (I am not a religious person) but I ask you for you prayers for my success.

Thankfully Silversiren

Good morning! I was really busy over the long weekend and didn't get to post yesterday at all. Rock8983, I have averaged 2.6 lbs. a week since starting in May. There have been times I only registered a .4 of a lb loss in a week. Just hang in there and stick to it. There is no possible way NOT to lose sticking to this plan. Don't get discouraged, our bodies all react differently. I absolutely won't weigh but once a week. I find I fluctuate too much. There are too many factors especially for women that can make your weight vary.

I think it's really common for your body to become stubborn and not want to cooperate, especially when we're messing with it! I've seen a couple weeks' at a time with no loss and then things get back to normal.

Overall, when I average the weeks on MF, I've been losing about 2 pounds a week. Not fast compared to most. but I'm on an insulin pump and insulin slows fat loss a bit.

Just stay on course, and those stubborn fat cells will give it up!

Tomorrow is my 3rd weigh-in and i'm not excited about it, but i'm going to keep on going! The scale hasn't budged all week and i'm not sure why other than not following the directions closely on my L&G meals. I lost 12.3 lbs in the first 2 weeks so I guess I can't complain for not losing this week. Did any of you have this happen and have any suggestions?

Hi all,

Wow...I've gotten real behind on this particular thread.

My dad was a founding member of the Clean Plate Club, I think. He never tied it to starving children in Africa; we were just to eat everything on our plate. I have tried real hard with my own children (it's more of an issue with dd than ds), to get them to evaluate their hunger levels.

I'm still working on my Thanksgiving plan. I think I'm going to stick to my Medifast for the day, except I'm going to add a small portion of my f-i-l's dressing and *maybe* a serving of cranberry gelatin to my L&G. Still working on it, though.

I had my first food dream since beginning the plan (I've almost completed 2 months). I've read of other's dreams on the facebook group, but I hadn't had any. Last night, though, I dreamed there were plates of cake squares and I started shoving lemon cake into my mouth, thinking, "Is this going to hurt me? Maybe it won't hurt me too badly." I think it was because yesterday was dd's birthday and there IS cake all over my kitchen (although it's not tempting me).

Our brains are such funny things, sometimes.

Talk to y'all later!

Mickie

@ Belinda"a great southern cook, and apparently had ties to most of the staving children in the world. LOL!" Wow can I relate that one! It was all about the clean plate. I love the no guilt. What a great perspective. @ Valerie, agreed, Women, food and God offers a good perspective on respecting and loving our bodies. Food is for life, and not life for food.
I need to adjust my attitude towards food, that is what this process is all about. It is slow, but sure. It feels so good to finally feel good and have energy. Praise the Lord!

Great insight Valerie, I am going to check out that book. I am near your age (55) and also grew up with that "clean your plate" mentality. My Mom was a stay at home mom, a great southern cook, and apparently had ties to most of the staving children in the world. LOL! Food was most certainly used as both a reward and a celebration. I have that gene too.....ugh! I laugh, but yes, there is that ugly side too, the self loathing and shame. So many years wasted in a vicious cycle of eating and starving and eating again. Yes, the party's over when the meal, snack etc... is gone. I never feel guilt or shame when I turn down dessert though or pay for my gym membership or buy new workout clothes (in a smaller size!) I remember a post I think Valerie made to someone missing all the delicious summer fruits, cookouts etc... There will be other summers to enjoy them. My ultimate goal is not so much a number on the scale as it is to be healthy and to learn to eat healthy and responsibly. I don't ever want to go back to the way I used to eat, because I know what comes along with it. I have to say I was on MF all summer, and I enjoyed every cookout that came along and I plan to enjoy every holiday gathering this year too. It's not just about the food, somewhere along the way some of us forgot that........now is the time to come to terms with it.

Hi all, I haven't checked in to this area of the forum in awhile and I have to say, look at the common thread will all face:

why do we feel it's "rewarding" or "treating" ourselves to eat sweets, or foods that sabotage our results?

I grew up in a "clean-you-plate" household where I probably never knew what real hunger felt like. I've tried to raise my kids to eat only until their satisfied, to honor their bodies, etc. But I know when my husband's had a rough day or my kids have a reason to celebrate, the first thing I think of is: "what can I bake?" or "where should we go to eat?"

Our society is just too, too wrapped up in food-as-pleasure!

And even with all those treats and family trips to the ice cream shop, etc., I'd begun to despise myself, or at least how I looked. The self-loathing and negative self-talk I'd experience when I looked in the mirror finally came to an emotional head and that's when I decided to start MF.

Now, eight months into this journey, I weigh less than I have in at least 10 years, and feel SO much better about myself! I'm truly beginning to experience the "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" (even though I'm far from thin!).

So I read your posts with interest and am determined to keep reminding myself that I spent my first 50 years eating in a way that ultimately made me nearly hate myself. I will spend the next 50 years eating in a way that nurtures and honors who I'm becoming and who I want to be.

I've said it before; a really good book on the topic of why women tend to eat the way they do is Geneen Roth's Women, Food & God. It really helps with emotional eating and letting go of that kind of destructive behavior.

Cheers to all!
Valerie

Thank you for all the encouragement. I'm planning on starting fresh - and being very diligent - starting again tomorrow. Would you mind if I check in here and tell you how I did?

I noticed Daisy's goal of losing so much by Thanksgiving. Does everyone here have a Thanksgiving plan? I am currently 145. I think it would be nice to be 130 by then. I believe it's doable if I'm very careful.

Hey SweetPetite,
I discovered that using nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon with my sf creamer gave me the chai-ish, pumpkin spice latte-ish, taste without the sugar and fat. HTH. I decided to go off plan for my birthday. WAY off plan. Let's just say I had a "detox" effect. Forunately I just can't eat like I used to (portion-wise). I think my stomach has shrunk. Have a wonderful beautiful October.

Hi! I'm new here. I've been doing Medifast for 12 weeks or so and have lost almost 30 pounds. I would like to lose about another 30. Recently, I've been floundering a bit. Needing renewed vigoration, I checked in here. Such great ideas! I feel my momentum coming back! I really do enjoy Medifast. Fall, however, is my favorite time of year. October is my birthday. It's easy for me to think that those two reasons warrant my favorite things: a pumpkin pie spiced chai, a bite of a doughnut, a caramel, an apple....etc. I don't want to undo what has already been accomplished....so your thoughts here are a tremendous encouragement to me. If I can make it through the fall thinking that I'm giving myself a headstart to all the dieting frenzy that comes in January, I think I can do it!

and I must say I agree with other posters who say remove/distract/sleep :) That is a great combo of tools to use against eating for any reason other than hunger. Sometimes the snack of pickles is great to make you feel like you are at least getting something 0 calories, 1 carb! One day when I was having a particularly trying day I had 2 cups of chicken broth, had flavor and that saltiness I was craving and only 15 calories and 2 carbs! Also asking myself the question, am I really hungry or just wanting food because....(fill in the blank) If you are hungry, any food will do, if you are craving only one food or a select group of foods will work.

When I reaaaaaally want some food that is not on plan, I plan for it! So during the day maybe I sub 100 calories of greek yogurt or cottage cheese for a MF meal (lower in carbs and higher in protein so you stay full), sometimes I eat 4 meals instead of the five to save that extra 100 calories for my lean and green meal. Then using the nutrition tracker on sparkpeople I make sure my carbs stay below 85 grams for the entire day including everything, condiments and spices included. As long as I stay below 1000 calories I am comfortable with that, even if I ate 1200 everyday I would continue to lose weight... Right now I want to stick to the about a 1000 calories or less rule that way I don't cheat myself. I NEVER rearrange my diet plan without counting calories, carbs and fats and proteins though, risking weight gain just isn't worth it!

Good morning everyone. I thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in. I agree with Hrryan, I have to remove myself from the situation. My cravings (if I have them) usually are in the evening, so going to bed a little earlier is a good option. At other times, if it's not truly hunger, I try to find something to keep me busy. Substituting one food for another I don't think works in the long term because you're still using food for reasons other than hunger. It occurred to me one day that it's probably a good thing I have so much to lose as I am learning to not use food as entertainment for boredom, or any other emotion that comes along that I don't want to deal with. I've been told exercise is a great substitute for emotional eating.....LOL....I still have to work on that one!

Whenever I am dying for comfort food I have to a. physically remove myself from close proximity to food LOL b. find another activity or c. sleep if possible because when I wake up it never seems that bad (even if its only 20 minutes). I've found that even substituting for me is dangerous so I move on with my day. However....I also take a good look at when the last time I ate was. Since settling in with MF I've found I really only have strong cravings when I actually am hungry. So I eat one of my meals.

I recently found my newest motivation.....experience! I was off plan for the last couple of weeks and finally came to the realization that off plan foods don't taste as good as I remember them. I NEVER thought I would actually PREFER MF foods to "regular foods." I mean sure..I look forward to my LG meal each day for that extra pop of flavor....but really all the comfort foods I was IN LOVE with (potatoes I lived on like a starving Irishwoman during the famine....ridiculous!). I realized I really AM NOT MISSING OUT. HUGE realization for me....so as much as I regret falling off-plan for a while and hindering my WL, overall I am glad I did it. It has reinforced my will. Now the big hurdle for me will be to find healthy replacements for the emotional support that food gave me. I've been attending OA meetings online so hopefully I can find some strength there.

Well, wish everyone motivation this week! Hope you are all hanging in there.

I caught myself wanting to binge on comfort food tonight. I made a medifast dinner as "comfy" as possible (zucchini, mushrooms, garlic and tomatoes cooked in chicken broth), and let myself "binge" on a couple extra veggies without breaking any other rules.
I need to really kick that, because it's what gets me every time, and I refuse to let it defeat me! What do you do when the "I want comfort food... and lots of it" monster rears its ugly head?!

I'm finding with the exercise I am really really tired afterwards and just tired in general throughout the day. Hoping that goes away soon almost 3 weeks completed :)

Oh my. Walked my butt off today (sure wish that was literally) It was ALL uphill the beginning part until we turned around. It felt good but made me sad. I used to be in such great shape, that wouldn't have been anything for me just a couple years ago. I can't wait to be there again. It's hard. I want to start my Jillian DVD's but I am trying to wait 3 wks before I do. One week almost down, Monday. I do have to say I am really excited about the progress so far. Looking forward to a mellow evening. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! Keep up the good work.

walked 3.5 miles today, ran the stretches at the track :) Haven't weighed in a few days the scale got stuck so kept up my plan and activity level. Heading to church tomorrow morning and hopefully walking and relaxing tomorrow afternoon :) Today my husband was more motivated to walk farther and run faster than me, usually I have to beg for an extra block or two. Dinner was awesome tonight! put some pecorino romano cheese on top of our turkey burgers, YUM!

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday! How are you all feeling today? Have any fun weekend plans? What are your goals to make it through the weekend?

Mine will be pretty mellow, husband isn't coming home for another week. So we will be hanging out with my MIL (Baby and I) maybe go for a walk. Fold laundry. Nothing too exciting! Hope you all are having a great day!

I thought it was going to be hard to cook for my husband (I usually have ZERO willpower) but last night, while i was poaching halibut and cooking tomatoes and spinach, he wanted halibut fish and chips... I fried it up and somehow never had the urge to eat any of it! I think it's probably a combination of the meal replacements keeping me full, and me just being really really ready to do this once and for all, because that has NEVER happened before :)
usually i make him do a diet with me so i don't have to drool over his food, but this time I don't even care :) Hope everybody is doing well!

Jules, you mentioned pumpkin lattes and I've gotta share this. This morning I made a cup of pumpkin spice coffee added ice and then mixed in my vanilla shake and some pumpkin pie spice. Yummy!

Hey Ya'all!! Don't forget to track your water on the Team Goals!!

JULES- I know, I usually make chocolate truffles for Christmas gifts, funny thing is usually I don't eat them but before I started the diet... I was a chocolate monster! So I think I am going to downscale this winter. Or maybe find a healthy fun alternative! I think reaching our goals with definitely be more satisfying!

Trenna, so glad today is going better already! Most days we add in a few extra ounces of protein, most of the meats we eat are lean enough to keep us around 1000 calories a day. Keep it up! we have similar weight loss goals and I LOVE to bake, I am thinking bake and put it in the freezer or give it away. One of our favorite things during this season is pumpkin spice lattes and holiday baking, but healthy feels better than those things taste. Once we move to maintenance we will be working those foods in, in VERY small portions and be active enough to burn it off same day.

I woke up feeling GREAT this morning!! I even got up before the Baby! I'm not feeling the gnawing hunger today. And the scale moved so I must be doing something right! Granted, I haven't had the challenge of having to cook for anyone but me. My hubby is working out of town this week. But he always tries to be supportive and will eater bigger portions of what I cook and so that makes it a lot easier. (Some nights he is ALL for a steak and salad!) I have been gulping down water as much as I can. (And haven't had ANY problems so far getting as much as I needed!) I did do the dill pickle too, the first couple days.. I love pickles. I know these colder months are going to be challenging. I LOVE to cook comfort food. Well, I just love to cook! But if I feel as good as I do today, most of the way through and keep seeing progress then I know it is something I can stick to! You can do it ladies =0) We're going to be some Lean Mean Fat burning machines!

Jules, good advice! 6shrums, I'm sure it's much harder to resist foods you can't eat when you are cooking for your family. It's just me and the hubs here, and if he wants something in addition to what I fix, he is on his own....LOL! It will get easier as time goes by though.....

Welcome Trenna! You guys can do it! Did you guys have your optional snack? I love dill pickles, 0 calories and less than one carb. I told my kids they may not eat our food, it is adult food, I think it has helped me more than them, I don't need the kid food because I am not growing and needing more calories. I drank 14 8oz glasses the first few days because I was afraid to be hungry. I did really well with that. Also a cup of chicken broth goes a long way as well 10 calories and a carb or two, watch the sodium content too.

Well I now know what some of my hardest parts of this journey are going to be.....I think I had 1 to many snacks yesterday and I am going to really have trouble cooking dinner for the family. Even though I plan on having my L&G for dinner, I am having a hard time with making the family the carbs that they can have (ie; rice, potatoes etc.) and not wanting a bite or in my case last night....a spoonful on my plate or just directly into my mouth and EATING it. I was only on Day 2 but was starving last night......oh this is going to be a LONG week. Today so far so good!!!! emoticon

Hi Trenna! Welcome to the team! Moderate walking should be fine. Alaska must be awesome, I have always wanted to visit there. Medifast is a wonderful way to lose weight and stay healthy. The first week can be tough but stick it out the rewards are amazing!

HI everyone! My names Trenna and I started Medifast on Monday. I was starving today but I made it through most of the day! I have to get this baby weight off! It says not to exercise until I've been on it for 3 weeks, is moderate walking all right? (Not going to climb a mountain yet!). I'm from Alaska, so I have to take advantage of the nice weather before the snow strays off the mountains! I joined Sparks in 2007 and when I lost 30lbs then, I did it with calorie tracking and a TON of exercise. I decided to try Medifast this time around. I have a 7 month old baby boy. I'd like to have the energy to chase him around since he's so close to crawling! Only going to get faster from there. That's my story =0)

Hi there! We started the same day. I was having the same problem today, I was SO hungry! It was driving me crazy, I kept drinking water to make it better. I sure hope that feeling goes away and the weight starts dropping away. Best of luck to you!! We can do it =0)

Great Job Valerie :) I'm heading back to my size 10 :) Size 16 for now, but not for long :) Just completed week two :) Nicki, figure out which foods you like and how you like to fix them, it helped me to google medifast tips for the specific food I was making to know what worked, most soups need soaked 2-3 hours ahead of time, smokey paprika is awesome in all the ones I have tried and it has 0 carbs and 0 calories :) Maple brown sugar oatmeal is my fave, smore bars and chocolate crunch bars are pretty good. For my lean and green I find if I have a salad I actually get FULL instead of just satisfied. Some days I add in an extra green but I track on sparkpeople very very carefully, even condiments and make sure I am not going above 85 carbs.

NIcki,
I'm sorry to hear about your stomach problems. I had none of that. About the hunger, give it a few days. It does go away and you will start feeling full. If you still have a problem with hunger after a few days, try splitting your lean and green 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 for dinner. Or if you are doing soup, try adding a little of your green or lean into it.

I have not had the strawberry bars, but I love the Chocolate mint and the cinnamon roll. (warmed up for 10 seconds is even better!) Another of my favorite things to do is add about 1/2 cup diet orange soda (make sure it has no calories or carbs) with vanilla pudding, add ice and blend. Kind of tastes like a push up from when we were younger. If anyones ever been to The Varsity in Atlanta, its like the frosted orange. YUM!

I am on day 2. OMG.....i am hungry and trying not to think about it. I think my hardest thing so far is that I work at my desk ALLL day and don't get up very much. My mind still thinks it has to eat meals at lunch and stuff because I usually do it at my desk. I had the Strawberry crunch bar this morning for my 1st meal (yucky!!!) I think it took me 30 minutes to eat it. I like the chocolate crunch yesterday. I was trying to change it up, guess I will have to keep trying. I am doing soup at lunch so it feels like I am eating something a little filling and doing my L&G at dinner with the kids and family.

I was very curious because yesterday was my first day and I had the worst case of (upset stomach) ALL day. Has this happened to anyone before? So far so good this morning but of course I don't think I have anything left to get rid of....(sorry for analogy) Nicki

Hey all! YEAH VALERIE!!! That's awesome. I used to be in a size 10 and would like to try and make it back to either a 10 or smaller if I can. I know its a long way away, but it is worth it. Maybe I will be in them by my birthday in February. That would be nice.

Just thought I would pop in and say hi to everyone and check in. As of Friday I am down 22 pounds. Hoping to be at the 25 lb mark by the end of the week or weekend. I have been exercising at the gym at least 3 times a week for at least an hour a day. I also strength traing a couple days a week.

I hear ya HANAVAS. I am hoping to do well through the holidays too. Especially when driving to see family 19 hours away for a week or so. My family is not very supportive of my losing weight, they have a distorted view of what is healthy and how to eat, as most of my family is overweight, obese, or morbidly obese. So I think it is harder in that regards, but I am committed to doing this for me and seeing it through to the end.

I hope everyone sticks to the plan during the holidays and say emoticonemoticon

Congrats, Valarie! That's great news. (I unfortunately, couldn't believe I was in a 10 and bought a size 12 jeans a week ago. Now they are falling off of me at work. Ugh, what a waste of money.)

Welcome Nicki! I'm sure you'll find some foods you enjoy on MF. Don't be bound by the preparation instructions. You may like things better preparing them in your own way. For example, I just add enough hot water to the oatmeal to make it like cookie dough. I don't cook the brownie, but rather just eat the batter. Look forward to hearing your progress!

Welcome nicki and good luck today. You can do this! It is by far the easiest diet to follow that I have ever tried. Just make sure you stay on plan and the weight will come off.

Well, today is day one for me!! It was kind of a hectic morning but I managed to eat my first meal at 9:00 am (I went with the oatmeal......not bad...not awesome but definately doable) I am hoping I can do this, I have run out of options. I have even set a timer on my desk at work to remind me when to eat. I definately know I want to do my L&G for dinner but trying to figure out what to eat during the day. That will be my trial and error project. Wish me luck..Nicki

THANKS EVERYONE!

So, I was encouraged and went shopping at Macy's yesterday (first time I've shopped for clothes in quite awhile!) and guess what?

I bought a pair of INC brand jeans in SIZE 10!!! AND THEY FIT!!!

I can't ever remember wearing a size 10 in pants.
