Your story is my story to a T LOUISA23. I did the very same after losing 45 pounds with Weight Watchers several years ago and gaining all but ten back. I have arthritis too and it is miserable. Good luck on your journey!

Yes when I turned 49 and realized that I would be 50 in a year and that is how old my father was when he passed of a heart attack. I needed to get healthy NOW!

YES. JUST NOW. I just read an article about the difference in weight loss. I like staying up late when it's really quiet. But I keep waking up around 4:30_5:30 ready to go. In fact that's my best time to clean. Turns out this is really bad for weight loss. So bad that one study showed you could lose about half as much weight as you would have if you were sleeping 8 1/2 hrs. Holy-ca-moly!! Gotta go to bed earlier. Didn't realize I'd been sabatoging myself.

I think my aha moment was when I stepped on the scale and realized I had gained back all but 10 pounds of the 45 I lost a few years ago. I was about to have to go up another size in clothing and I promised myself I would never go there again. I have arthritus and fibromyalgia. I am MAKING myself miserable and DESTROYING my joints! It has to stop.

The other day I decided to step on a scale in a store. I loved what it said, sad part is that I knew it was lying. So, I decided to step on my own scale. This is something I haven't done in a little while. Why? well same as most peoples terrible excuse...the holidays, I'm too busy, forgot...well, I just didn't want to either. That is my biggest thing.

A-Ha!!! I didn't really have an excuse, I just didn't want to know what the numbers were so I could continue doing what I want. LOL!!!

A-Ha!!! I have been kidding myself thinking I was doing things right, but had actually fallen off.

A-Ha!!! I have become the person I was before I started my journey and realized how easy it is to do when you don't think about it.

I had an A-HA moment last year when I found myself eating in response to being tired!
I'm working on breaking the tired-eat trigger now...

speaking as a parent with older self-sufficient children who have their own careers..... I dont think it is resentment of success.... it CAN be a resentment of not sharing that success or its benefits with the parent..... even when not asked to do so.

again just speaking as a parent..... we never resent our children... just hope that one day they can see what we see or feel.

I was visiting my father, and he started criticizing me and being downright nasty. I just sat there and listed to what he said, and then said, "Dad, you are not being fair and you are not treating me well." The next day he phoned me and I could tell he was crying. He said he could not sleep the prior night and agreed that he was not treating me well. He apologized and has been better since.

After my mom died of breast cancer nearly 14 years ago, my dad has become bitter....with everything in life. You just can't please him. He has become very difficult to talk to. I wish it wasn't like this.

My AHA, was in realizing it was ok to tell my dad that he was not treating me nicely. I'm 53, have a post graduate degree, retired after 33 years with a major automotive company, and am very secure financially. I fear my father despises my success.

Great stories. I think I just had about 3 AHA moments reading these. I also had a big one this summer when I was trying to reduce stress in my life and I decided to make changes at work. I realized I needed to stick to my decision, even though it appeared it wouldn't work out for anyone but me. In the end, it worked out for a lot of people.

Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can."

I had an a ha moment today. I listened to a webinar with Superheroyou today. I realized that the activities I had been trying and floundering with were really the best activities for my brain to be healthy. It gave me the confidence to keep up the effort !!! I was kind of giving up as I wasn't mastering or even half way getting the skills. Now, with the knowledge I'm doing a good thing, I will continue!!!! ....and not criticize myself for being clumsy, unbalanced...
I'm excited!

A very similar story, and I use it often as my friends evaluate where their relationships are. I tell them that I can't comment on their relationship as I am not there every day living day in and day out with them. So my test for a relationship is to ask yourself when you wake up in the morning, "Is this what I want to be doing for the rest of my life?"

If the answer is no, then I make a decision and change my path. Sadly, I am now unemployed, broke, and my body is giving out on me at 37. But I was miserable, and then I had a few good years, and then it was the pits again starting in 2008.

If you ask me if I would ever do it again - probably, but I would have been more careful and not broken my neck!

My biggest a-ha moment was that i didn't have to stay friends with the friends i had since the first grade that it was okay to walk away that i wasn't commiting some big sin. I wish them well in their life but we are better off not being friends.

This weeks question is about PATIENCE and UNDERSTANDING. I think when we "mature" and grow intellectually is when a collection of thoughts and things we have learned can come together into an understanding. Or better, like this quote says:

"Some people think maturity is to do with age. In fact maturity are those who have learned from their mistakes, have a better vision in life and understanding."~Chee Vai Tang

Patience is best explained by the photo of the week:)

Now that said, in your life is a time when patience and understanding came into your life to teach you something?
For me it was this story-I'll try to keep it short.

About 12 years ago I was in an abusive, unhappy 4 year relationship. I just got my first computer. My boyfriend at the time use to leave me at home while he went out and cheated on me, drank with the boys and stayed out all night. I would go on the computer to some chat rooms.
I met this friend who lived 2000 miles away and we had a talk after getting to know each other a couple weeks.
He asked me a few questions--
"Are you happy?" he asked. "No" i say
"Is he a good father to your children?" my answer-"No."
"Well, I guess that's the choice you make." he said and told me to have a good night.
I couldn't sleep at all that night. OVER and OVER...."the choice I'm making, the choice I'm making. This is the life I'm choosing. What the? omg. I choose unhappiness and abuse. I choose someone to treat my children less than the precious human beings they are! omg....."

I left the jerk the VERY next day.
That man who asked the A-HA question without even knowing the reaction---he's my husband now:)

PLEASE watch this weeks video.. it is a great and humbling 4 minute video that embraces the concept of patience and understanding. You won't regret it!!

MUCH LOVE!!!~Lisa emoticon
