I walk, and walk, and walk around my back yard. 12 laps is 3 miles, so I go out chugging away on water. I often go out there to avoid working in the house.

Like today, I should have washed the dogs, but "felt I needed a walk" intead! Dogs get washed tomorrow!!

1- Praying (definitely usually the first thing I do)!

2- Sitting down, relaxingin a quiet enviroment (this is challenging at times), maybe drink a hot cup of tea.

3- Talking to a good friend about whatever went on to make my day bad.

4- Play a game of backgammon of spades, or another game on my computer.

5- And as Tuesdaybear said, Cleaning House...This one is relaxing, and I do so much thinking during it, and it does feel good to have something to show for it. THIS is something I need to do MORE OFTEN!!!

Any time I'm able to talk to him the stress of the day just melts away.
And if, for some reason, he's out of reach --- then I'll leave it for him in an email.
His shoulders help to carry my stress away.

I also include in that a nice walk if I'm able -- preferably outside.

Usually, I try to concentrate on something new and leave the bad day behind--- Working in my garden, working on my online course, cleaning my car etc. Anything that reminds me that a bad day isn't all there is.There's a hundred good things in spite of that one bad day.

Ahh... so many bad days, I don't know where to begin! But here's a list of things I have found incredibly helpful.

1. Reading the Bible. So calming.
2. Laughter - watching a funny show or a funny movie
3. Bubble bath with a favorite book
4. Hot chocolate
5. Cardio - those endorphins!
6. My relaxation exercises on my iPod.
7. Yoga
8. Cleaning house (I know, I know - but it really does take your mind off other things. And you feel good after because you have something to show for it)

"And we know that in all things God works for the good in those who are called to His purpose."

I tell myself that it will pass. And tommorrow will be better than today. I also take some deep breaths and say it is okay to have alittle pity party but for a time limit i give myself like ten mintues to throw a temper tamtrum or feel sad or whatever i'm feeling then move on. No more feeling bad.

I get it. Have a go to list. try going down the list until you find one that distresses you.
I like the idea of having some things written down and posted on a wall somewhere. Maybe I can train myself to look at the list before I head straight to the refrigerator or pantry!!!!!

Relax. Relief from my bad day. This is different for me all the time. I would like to say that walking gives me a chance to clear my head, but it also give me the chance to muddle it up. I try using music to drown out the thoughts but sometimes that not loud enough. So its a day to day thing.

Some things included:
family walks
reading a book
playing with my kids
reading with my kids
talking with my husband.
talking on the phone
writing
sleeping
playing a game on the computer or ipad
praying
cooking
and my new one is scrapbooking!

After I'm tired from crying...luckily days like that don't come often!!!...I find someone I can laugh with - it's amazing how much clearer the solutions are after a good laugh!
emoticon

If that's not convenient, I sing and dance to loud music - preferably Show Tunes! Or watch musicals with lots of energy like Glee or Fame or Chicago..or anything that gives me happy.feet!
emoticon

And that's just so I can concentrate enough to decide if the problem is real and if I need to find a solution! You'd be surprised how many times the problem isn't mine!
Wishing you all the wisdom to know the difference!

Holy Schnikkeeees Lisa....that was indeed a rotten day!!!
I wish I was like Robbie- a run to relieve the stress. The thought of running causes me stress!
A stres relieve...might be walk with my dog.... might be brushing my teeth and getting into bed with a book....watching a show on youtube in my bedroom (like so you think you can dance- those young kids inspire me with their hard, hard work)....in the winter a bath with a book and candle
I wish I lived by a river...that would totally be my stress reducer!

I do a lot of different things because you know what works today may not work tomorrow, as I know from experience. Depending on where I am, taking a brisk walk can do wonders. Listening and getting absorbed into music is another good thing for me (a song that you love to sing or is motivating for you). Sometimes just writing the things that you have in life and are grateful for (small things are true blessings) down on a list so you appreciate what you have. Pray.

I get relief from a bad day by laughing. I try to talk about it with someone, or make fun of the crap that's happening in my head, but when push comes to shove I just try to drop it all off of my shoulders and read/watch something hilarious.

Sometimes just crying helps a lot too.

So I would really like to know since finally the day is ending for me and it wasn't the best day. First off I lost the diamond in my wedding band (found it-see my blog) then my kitty was scratching the edge of the bed and I peeked my head to look at him and he thought I was playing and jumped up and attacked my head and swiped my cheek deep enough to draw blood. Then I got a disappointing call from my lawyer. And on top of it all my protruding discs in my neck were screaming with every turn- then the headaches came....
That was my day.
And of course I turned to food without thinking much of it until later in the day when I tracked and stopped myself before it was out of control.
I would of liked to immediately acknowledge the stress coming over me, the attraction of it and did something like I know I should of!!

My relief from a bad day=laughter! I didn't get that until Mike and Molly and 2 Broke Girls. After a good laugh I came onto Youtube and found a wonderful relaxation video.
So this week, let's remind ourselves of our stress relievers when we need them!!!
What is yours?
