SAFIYAH9- Thanks so much for the info! I have tried Greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute and it is yummy! I am definitely going to look into the google calendar. That's great that your family likes the food you're eating because it's really hard having "your food" and "their food." I hate that! I'm really trying to make regular food for dinner that every one will eat and exercise serious portion control. It's working for now.

Sorry, but I just thought of another thing.

Feta Cheese. I know a lot of people don't like it, but there IS a low fat version, and it's got a strong cheese taste, so in your average dish (like on a salad) it would take less cheese to satisfy your craving. Try it. Feta cheese is one of those things I miss.

Another suggestion... Look into greek yogurt. I love the taste of sour cream too, and plain nonfat greek yogurt tastes a lot like sour cream. Not EXACTLY but close, and on a baked potato, with a dollop of greek yogurt and some chives (or steamed broccoli) that's YUMMY and really good for you. Greek yogurt is loaded with protein, and the whole acidolpholous thing. It's still dairy, but it's a healthier choice, and may help you in the long run.

Either way, get creative, try new things, have fun with this! That's what has helped me get through this. Some of my "experiments" have bombed, REALLY bombed. But I laughed it off and tried something else! :-)

I switched to non dairy cheeses and milk. Unsweetened Almond Milk is really not bad, and I can drink a whole glass without any backlash from my stomach. Perhaps trying non dairy cheeses will help, otherwise portion control will definitely help!

Another trick I learned, drink a whole glass of water about 30 minutes before eating. I don't know WHY this helps, but it most certainly does. I have found that room temperature water works better for me than cold water, but you can try both.

I also switched to non dairy ice cream. It's funny that my family kids me about not eating dairy, but they'll gobble up my mini ice cream sandwiches like there's no tomorrow (and leave THEIR ice cream in the freezer!).

I decided to use this time to try new things, it's an adventure. It makes new dishes fun. I've found a dish with rice, quinoa (which is a grain that has a complete protein, and is gluten free) and kale. It's absolutely yummy, especially with some spices thrown in!

Google calendar absolutely works for me, it comes with the gmail account, no charge for it, and I can set it up any way I want it. I ALSO print each month out, so I can SEE what I have to do each day at a glance. I love it!

You are truly rockin' it, girl!!!!!

I have read about people who have given up dairy and how that seems to really, really help. I love cheese and sour cream so much, I don't think I could ever give it up completely. I do practice serious portion control now though and that is helping a lot. With the dairy, I might could try limiting it to 2 or 3 days a week and see if I could live with that. I just know that if it's not sustainable, it's not worth doing b/c if I can't sustain it then I feel guilty and that guilt leads to overeating and weight gain...a vicious cycle I put myself through. I'm really trying to be real with myself about it this time.

Good for you about being so disciplined in your workout schedule...that is a fabulous plan you have about rotating the workouts and setting it on your calendar/phone. : )))))

Thank you! I change my workout program often, which keeps my body from adjusting to the workouts. I sat down and figured out a regular workout plan which repeats every 3 weeks (but I intend to extend that to 4 weeks, with a bit of tweaking.) I then took the time to input this into Google Calendar, every workout, and set it to remind me via text message bright and early (6am) every day with that day's workout.

Each morning, at 6 am, my phone alerts me. I get up, check my phone to see which workout I'm doing that day, grab that DVD and my laptop to go out to the porch where the weights are to do my workout. It's the first thing I do when I get up each morning, and setting it on my google calendar helps me tremendously.

That, along with cutting out dairy, gluten, most meat and most processed foods has made a HUGE difference in my weight and body fat percentage. I am now in a healthy range with my body fat and BMI, which has me thrilled!!!

Also, how many days a week are you working out with JV?

I will start the Bottoms Up program soon. Definition is my favorite. I have also done the Fat Burning Workout and the Swimsuit Workout.
