I was very excited when I heard they were doing this run in my community. What a wonderful way to get people active! Helps people feel part of a "community", and also builds self esteem and health:-) I'm with you Monty, anyone that gets out there and run/walks is doing a great thing for themselves!!

For me, I fell off the track for a long while due to life, but am back committed to taking my health back, and regaining a positive outlook on both my body, and life:-)

Anyone who hits the run can count on my support. I was obese for over 40 years. I walked my first 5K when I was 60. Any race my Granddaughter does, I walk/jog/run and have too much fun with her. I've also joined others, in support, who are alone and run or walk with them. Timing is not important to me anymore! Supporting others on the run is! I need to pay it forward as I've beemn there.
Crossing the finish line is the goal. When I did my second Triathlon, I was the very last one out of the water! I know what it's like. YET, when I crossed the finish line, the emotions were as if I was 1st Overall! To this day, I feel the same at every Finish Line I cross!
I so encourage everyone to embrace the challenge to run. Have fun with it, enjoy it, and add years to your life! It's never to late for anyone! Thanks for sharing, Gill!

I really love going to Park Run. I'm in the UK, but Park Runs are springing up all over the World now. Every Saturday morning - free, timed, 5k runs.

I really wanted to share this recent blog from Park Run - about how a woman in the 'obese' range started running, and what it has done for her - in case it can inspire another Sparker to give running a go! Feel free to share the link with anyone you think might be encouraged by this.
