Becca – I am in the same boat. I enjoyed running more when I was not on a schedule. I am not sure if it is because I am thinking too much about it that I made it a big deal, or I enjoyed it more because I was free to do what I wanted, when I wanted. I do agree – this weather is not helping my mood. It looks like I will need to take a ‘rest’ from running this week because the weather here is not cooperating.

Anyway, when I cannot run, I am doing other ST, cardio and yoga so I am not idle. This week should have been the week to start increasing my mileage so I am bummed about not being able to do that.

Ah well, c’est la vie!

Not necessarily "struggling" with HM training, more of hating the feeling of "have to run x miles at x pace on x day." I've actually stuck with this training plan better than most other HM training I have done in past years. I have, up until last week, rarely missed a scheduled run and never missed a long run (except last weekend didn't run my 12 mile long run)

The weather hasn't helped the issue, easy to talk yourself out of a run you don't feel like doing when the weather is rainy or talk myself into working in the garden when the weather is super nice!

I ran 3.5 miles on the TM on Monday night and need to get in another run or two this week and a long run (8 miles or so) on Sat or Sun.

The silver lining is I know this will most likely be my slowest HM. I am still carrying some extra "baby" weight and still find my self struggling to fit in exercise with the craziness that is my life! I am okay with the slower pace and finish time, which is great because if I was struggling with my time and with the training- this could end up being one horrible half marathon!

CSTREAM - Hope rest day was good.

Today should be a running day, but it has not stopped pouring rain. I do not mean a drizzle - I mean a torrent with wind. Grrr....Maybe I will have to substitute my run for a HIIT workout.

6 on the mountain bike yesterday. Adventuring my favorite trail post flood, it's a much harder course now. So sad to see all the repair that still needs to be done, but it was a great first ride of the season complete with a little tumble (I cannot jump obstacles!)

The weather here is weird. It is almost May, usually daytime highs in the low 60s. It has been 78 F and 45 F for the daytime high in the last 5 days. The sun was out a minute ago and now its raining. Sheesh. I did a 3 miler in this morning between the rain drops.
Bobby and Nera, hope you hip flexors are better soon. Mine used to bother me but has not since I have started using a foam roller every day. I will say the rolling part hurts and I use colorful words but it feels better when I am done:)

I'm almost through week 2 of c25k and feeling great! I may have mentioned that I'm starting from square one after an ankle injury. The ankle is tolerating running and it is great to be out. Gearing up for the 1st race in one week, pretty excited :)

Okay I had the day off from work which was much needed. I walked to our local library which is a 2.2 mile round trip. So this week I exercised 4 times instead of three. Baby steps.

I am not sure what a hip flexor is but I think I am having issues too. My left hip starts to hurt after about 15 minutes of walking. I think it is a tightness issue. When I come home and stretch it feels better. Although the first stretch of it has been known to cause me to swear. LOL!!! Yow sometimes it really hurts.

Scale continues to be erratic. It told me I gained two pounds. I don't believe I lost 5 last week or gained two this week. I need a new scale or I really do have a water retention issue.

got a hip flexor issue going on so taking a week off running but still trying to get out on the bike if the weather breaks

I added another mile last night after dinner when we walked to the frozen yogurt shop. Today, a 3 mile run followed by a 1.2 post office walk. I do like living here, it is much easier to lace up my sneaks rather than start up the car!

A rest day, just power walked to the post office, 1 mile round trip. Not bad but I did notice that my legs were tired. Good thing I planned a rest day. Only grocery shopping, cleaning of the boat, scrubbing floors in the bathrooms and getting the mail. Oh, and window washing too. I think I need a nap..........

Got in a great 5 miles this morning. It was a little breezy, but I got it done. Feels good to already have my run in!

Red Rocks workout today! Run/walk on the stairs with some arm and leg work mixed in. The weather was gorgeous and felt great to be outside and taking in the great scenery.
Have the rest of the week planned out, working up to a 5k on May 3rd!! I haven't dropped a pound in 2-3 weeks, but the increase in workouts, especially getting outside has been great. Amazing what a little fresh air and sunshine will do!

Pottery today, as always, fun. Dirty, but fun:) Then lunch with Dad, Mom and niece. The weather was gorgeous, I think winter has started to depart. There is not much snow on the ground near us but the ski areas in the northern part of the state were still open yesterday! A very late spring skiing season:)

NERAUS - It is not how fast you ran that matters - what matters is that you were working out!
CStream - Great job on staying on track!

I had a pleasant weekend but I wish that I was more motivated to workout more. Yesterday I did nothing and I had all day to myself. 10K training plan for this week is pretty mild - only 8miles in total.

Hi!!!! Nera- good job on the scale: funky or not! and the end of the walk run was pretty cool!!! :)
I ran 3 miles yesterday. Warm and sunny! No more snow!
today was busy , of course,but I didn't over eat. The SILs and MIL and I walked a strolling 2 miles around inlaws' property between dinner and the egg hunt. Fun times with 22 grandkids of varying ages.
I'm thinking a run tomorrow would be sweet! Have a great Monday!

Nera, glad to see that sparkly nail polish is cheerful. I mean, how can you be less than cheerful with something sparkly??

Okay it is nice here so I walked outside. At the end of my walk I decided to try running. I picked out my finish point and took off at a slow lumber(really not pretty style) when I hear the fast pitter patter of feet behind me. Really out of all the streets around me this young guy has to go barreling by me? I am mid block and he is at the end all ready that is how much faster he was going.

I read my sleep report results online and I don't have sleep apnea. I am going in for a follow up visit just so they can explain all the numbers to me. Because while I don't have sleep apnea it appears I don't sleep super great. But mostly I am going to be told what I was afraid they were going to say- lose some weight. The report says I didn't snore at all. But I snore every night at home. So I am wondering if my bed is the issue. That will be one of my questions for sure. Well I decided against a neon color for a nail polish and got some sparkly stuff instead. I just finished doing my nails. I missed having them brightly colored. I find it has a cheerful effect on me.

Clothes shopping not so great. I don't want a ton of clothes because I hope I don't stay this size but really need 4 pairs of dress pants for work and I have three. Thank goodness most black pants look alike so I wear one pair twice. Couldn't find much. Either way too big and looked like I had enough material for two pairs or they were super short and narrow. The last pair made me laugh as they were definitely skinny leg pants. Topped off with being made of stretchy material they looked like leggings. Not a good look for me. I also discovered that when manufacters put the word stretch or stretchy on a pair of pants that word means something different to them then it does me. I had a pair on and they did not stretch. LOL!!!

Charles, I always run for fun, even if it is a race:) It may sound stupid, but what is crossfit fundamentals? I don't know what crossfit is........
Did a "long" run today, 3.5 miles, mostly running. Slow but steady:) First time I was able to mostly run that distance without my leg hurting. I guess the excessive stretching is helping. When I go see the Dr later this month, I can tell her exactly where my heels, toes and calf hurt. Maybe get some relief at some point in time.

Hey ya'll, my beloved wife and I have been doing 5K's here and there for a year now and have had successes, failures, many good times. We recently decided to try a Crossfit fundamentals class at our Family Y on the spur of the moment. It was hard but far from impossible and we have decided to stick to it as best we can for six weeks. No racing, just this class and our regular mileage for six weeks and I am really interested to see how it affects our runs. The class has adjustments for all levels of intensity so we aren't getting overworked but we are surely working! We like it and will keep you posted. Run for fun, stress less!

Neraus - emoticon on the loss. Although I think that some of the weight loss was due to sodium, I think that some of it was due to your hard work too!
MARINEMAMA - Where in SC are you? Me and hubby are thinking of relocating there in 2015, but neither of us know anything about the place.

So I ran 4.5 miles this morning..the longest in a very long time. At mile 3 I had to wait for a really long light to turn and when I started back up again, I had a side-stitch. Tried different things, and even walked a bit, but it was still there. So I decided to just keep on running...kept telling myself "keep running, you will get home faster...eventually.... if you don't collapse" emoticon Then I realised I was really far away from home and I was late for a hair appointment, so then I really had to run! emoticon

And that is how I entetain myself on runs emoticon

Ok so I weighed myself this morning first time in a week. I think I have a funky scale. It said I had lost 6 pounds. Wow I should market it. LOL!!!! I know that last week due to some high sodium intake I was retaining some water but not 6 pounds worth. I was happy to see the scale not go up but realistically my baby steps didn't bring that much loss. But positive things I did this week:
1. exercised three times.
2. changed snack time at work so it was not a 265 calorie cliff bar every day.( I had one this week)
3. Changed habits so I did not come home from work and snack on 500 or more calories while I made supper and waited for hubby to get home from work.

Hopefully I will get more baby steps going or make the ones I have bigger. Then maybe I will lose 6 pounds for real. LOL!!!

However I told myself that if the scale went down I could reward myself with a new nail polish color. Funky or not I am counting this as a "loss" and going to go buy some funky neon nail polish.

I live in Minnesota and what is fun is that last April the same thing happened. Big snowstorm in April. Sigh!!!!

I did get on the treadmill tonight. Netflix on a tablet helps to keep me on both the treadmill and the exercise bike.

We ended up with over 8" of snow last night. Plus the powers that be decided plowing,sanding was not needed since we were in the 40's today. So the drive in to work this morning was very interesting.

I did ride the exercise bike tonight so that is exercise 3 times this week. And when I went to Wendy's I skipped getting pop. Did get burger and fries though. Some really small baby steps. LOL!!!

My DD is lounging on the couch next to me, taking selfies. Some of them are rather entertaining.
I did get around 3 miles in this morning. I will say that my ITB is getting better. That foam roller, which I hate, is actually helping a lot. I have been using it twice a day on the sore spots. The first set in the morning is short as it HURTS!!! Can I say that it hurts, a lot, while rolling on it. But, the second time, later in the day, the pain is not as bad. My left ITB only has one or two minor sore spots. The right one, well, still a ways to go. Nothing like torturing yourself:)

HI!!! just a quick drop in to check on ya'll!!! HOpe you're out there running and biking and shoveling snow... OOPS! I mean RAKING the yard to get ready to MOW!! NOT SNOW!!!
I've been doing well. We got through 6 kids with chicken pox with just a few nights of no sleep. They are all healing nicely. I've been running every other day and doing HIIT workouts the other days with Sundays being complete rest from exercise. I ran 6 sunny 'warm' (50s) miles this morning.
My dad had a slight heart attack last night and was shipped to another hosp. across the state. Their local hosp. isn't qualified to care for these things. :( He'll have a cath done today or tomorrow. He had one in Dec. b/ c of high heart rate and they found lots of blockages... nothing they could do b/c he's had 5 bypasses and a few stents. No other areas to bypass. His body is fantastic at making scar tissue so it closes things up quickly. :(

NERAUS – 6” of snow! Geez…this winter does not want to stop, does it?
MARINEMAMA – I’m with you. Several of the veggies and herbs that I planted are dead because of the cold front.

Yesterday was cross-training so I did ST and abs for an hour. Today should be a 3 miler if the weather cooperates. No hopes there. emoticon The TM is always an option, but I don't have the patience for 3 miles.

We might get another dental plan when the hubby gets hired full time. Right now I am so depressed. What was suppose to be 4" of snow has turned in to 6" and no signs of stopping. This winter just has to stop soon or I am going to loose my mind.

Becca – That’s great that you wake up early enough for ST. I try to wake up early, but I can only do it for about a week. 4 miles on the TM? I get bored just after 0.4…. emoticon
CStream – Yeah for the run!
Neraus – That is one hefty dentist bill; but if hubby needs it done, maybe waiting longer won’t be wise. Is there a way you can get second coverage?

I am still hyped from yesterday’s run and although this sounds small, I am still going to share!!! emoticon

I ran 3 miles as the training plan called for and I did all 3 in 24.50 minutes. The third mile I ran in 8 minutes and most of it was up a steep hill. I wasn’t trying to set any PR’s; in fact I was not concentrating on speed – right now I want to increase distance, but I’ll take my moment of glory. Saturday I need to be mindful and slow way down so I can run all of 4 miles non-stop. emoticon

Mid-way to Friday……Let’s do this! emoticon

Well I see we do have a winter advisory but the heavy stuff is suppose to be north of us. I had better watch the news tonight so I can see how early I have to leave for work tomorrow.

Yes SAD is a possibility. So is hormone shifts due to menopause and vit d deficiency or maybe I am just freaking nuts. I did walk on the treadmill sunday and the exercise bike last night. Plus eating a more substantial breakfast has helped. Today two eggs over hard with a piece of bread and half a glass of milk. I feel less weepy when I eat protein. My cholesterol is good so yokes are not a problem.

On the money side of things hubby finally went to dentist and his teeth are so bad we had to go in for a consultation. The cheaper option is $19k and then only if two teeth can be fixed. If they have to be pulled and replaced then up that by $10k. The dentist is very nice and non judgemental but his teeth are so bad it all should be done now. I think I have hubby convinced to do about $8K worth between now and the end of the year. Then finish it up next year. I would do it all at once and take out a loan but our credit is so bad from him being unemployed no one will give us any money. He wants to wait and do only what insurance will pay for in a year. But our dental coverage only is for $1500 a year. Dentist said he can not take that long to do the work. The more delay the more that will need repair. If I ever needed a reminder on why going to the dentist regularly my hubby would be it.

Janet, I make everyday ware, like bowls and cups, etc. But, I add lots of texture to the outside so they all look different from each other as well as from everything else out there to buy.
A 3ish miler today. I did a dance of joy as it was finally mostly running with only a little walking:) Getting there.

Neraus- Seasonal Affective Disorder? Just a thought. The weather here has been horrible this year. And it isn't getting any better is it! Are you in the winter weather advisory for the next few days? We are on the tail end so I am thinking just an inch or two of wet snow!
Tatercat- I had a headache almost everyday last week. Gotta love hormones (real and artificial)! I still feel it a little bit but certainly better than it was!

I had a 10 mile long run that I am SOOO glad I did on Saturday and not Sunday. Saturday's weather was pleasant and Sunday's was miserable! I have 4 miles on my schedule for tonight. Not sure if they will be outside or on the TM.

I've been waking up early and doing ST. So far so good!

Cstream - pottery sounds like fun - What kind of things do you normally do?
Bobby - I am with you on the cold + bike riding. I only bike when it is nice. This weather has been crazy this season! It snowed again yesterday.

My headache is getting better - so I definitely need to get back to my workouts tonight. Yesterday I skipped PiYo and I am frustrated at that. I had been looking forward to it all week. I think it was best though emoticon
