I must say we had a lazy day in our house! Sometimes, you just have to chill! It was a good break! I did do a little more research on Tri wetsuits, Scott's Tri bikes, and played guitar! Yep, lazy day!

Out of habit form December I posted on Let us run let us run let us run thread......so this is a repeat...

Day 36 and counting of my streak with 5 miles today. Yesterday my boyfriend found a clear place for us to power walk a mile (1.2 actually) to keep my streak alive. lots of icy roads here in NJ with the snow we got. Love the support he gives me.

The temp. yesterday was 24 F. Today, above freezing! Tomorrow, back in the ice locker......sigh. No exercise today again. I just feel blech, tired and achy. I will get over it and get out there tomorrow!
Trish, I am so glad that your chicks are able to do the things they love to do and do it well. So many kids have no idea what is fun for them.

Hi Everyone! Just checking in to see what's happening. It's cold here too! Although I don't think we got out of the twenties yesterday it was a beautiful sunny day with brilliant blue skies! I was crazy enough to take the top down on my convertible while running some errands! People were looking at me like I was a nut!!!

I'm hoping to get a couple miles in this afternoon.

Hey all!
Joshy played AWESOME in his game tonight - earned a 6-0 tally, and faced at least 45 shots to earn in:) Missy also did amazing! Her team had a short bench, and she played the best game I have seen her play.

Penny, you can add me to the Victoria Marathon crew - me and the kidlets will be there...just not sure if I will run the 1/2 or the full yet:):)

Gotta fly, so tired:):) Love you all!!

Nera, I am glad your son is okay, and just the truck was damaged. It's very cold here too, I also wouldn't want to be trudging through the car lots.

Marty, we have the Saints/Eagles game on here. Some of your good chili would hit the spot right about now!

Doris, I'm sure you take your turn, and will be taking his turn when he has his surgery!

Coldest weather heading this way. On monday our high will be a negative 15.

Plus our son came home on friday in the sleety snow and his truck slid in to a concrete barrier on the freeway. He damaged the front corner and while the truck drives when you turn the corner the bumper hits the tire. Can't bend it back so need to take it in. But hubby really wants him out of the truck in to a car. He says the truck just isn't good on slick roads(I am tempted to say I told you that at the time of purchase but it wouldn't get me anywhere) Now we are trying to find a car we can afford and find it before he goes back to school on friday. Or get the stupid truck fixed. The best part is no car sales on sunday. Today my son decided he wanted to hang with friends instead of dealing with this. Plus monday and tuesday temps will be below zero all day. What a fun time to walk through a car lot. Sigh!!! If I didn't have the new season of bull riding starting tonight I would seriously need medication. I am so tired of 1 step forward followed by 6 steps back.

Today was truly a rest day. I slept late, read a book before a shower. Then, had to read more of my book before heading to the hardware store with DH. We visited DD at her work, came home, cooked dinner and now, just hanging out. It feels good to do nothing once in a while!
Meanwhile, while I was reading and lounging, DH went to the diesel fuel store (gas station) to fill our 4 jerry cans to fill the tank for the diesel heater. He made two trips.......I did not feel bad for him as I did this last weekend! although I only made one trip with the 4 cans.
Hope all are feeling great and staying warm/cool.

Hello all!

Kirsten - I did a new leg workout on New Year's Eve, and today is the first day I woke up without feeling like a truck had run over my legs. If the sun decides to come out this afternoon, I am planning on a little run.

I don't feel like digging out my car or dealing with the poorly plowed city streets, so I'm taking the bus to work this morning. It's a bit of a longer ride, but with a good book it's not bad.

Have a super day!

Hey all!
Missy and I went out for a walk today - it was way more slippery than I expected, so we had a longer one than expected - she was so good - only complained every ummmm, 15 minutes:):)

Joshy played goal tonight at his practice - glad his groin is playing ball:):)

Hey Carrie, both of my kidlets volunteer at the local SPCA...(me too LOL)...so happy you are doing this:):)

Kirsten...I totally get how hard it is to move forward - that would be one of the reasons that I need my kidlets to do workouts!! Send me a message darling...we are pretty much doing the same thing:):)

Bobby, I am actually not pushing things right now. My run/walks are more walks than runs...I love you guys, and wish you would all choose to come to Western Canada and visit me and Penny:)

Hey Don, if you don't mind me asking (and sorry if I missed it)...what is the surgery you are getting?

Gotta fly, love you all:):)

Yesterday I walked 4.25 miles in the afternoon and then another 3 with DH.
Today I ran/walked 6.9 miles. It was cold here in FL (Yay, a wonderful 58 for a high with 30mph winds made it much cooler) I really enjoyed getting out in long pants and long sleeve shirt. Hope its like this tomorrow, even though its suppose to be a bike day, I'll do another walk.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes. As the days get closer to my surgery date I'm getting more anxious. Tonight I did some Googling in regard to recovery time and how soon I can return to physical activities like running or biking. Many replies were anywhere from one week to eight weeks depending on what procedure was used. My doc is using the latest and seemingly preferred method, so cross my fingers I'll be up and running soon afterward.

Judi - what? You want to move south maybe to North Dakota worth warmer can you call warm up -28.

Monty - lol over fueling love it

Don- welcome to the team and good luck on your hernia surgery . maybe it will be a good chance for you to work on some stretching hope to see you round on the boards more

Doris- I wish we had that much snow. When is hubbies surgery?

Kim- hi stranger. I'm starting over alsoso you are not alone. The running group will be nice when you don't feel like running.

Sprout-that's some good cross training with the ice skating and shoveling that burns a ton of calorii need snow so I can burn more calories I guess.

Trish- way to plug away there's no need to rush back to quickly, right?

Kirsten-balance is the key to life no matter what we're doing. Rock on girl you can do it.

yesterday was a spin day 30 minutes, today was an hour snow blowing and shoveling, and tomorrow will be a run day hopefully

Brrrrrrrr!!!! It is SO cold here these days. I can barely bring myself to run to the CAR!

My first two miles are still lonely little miles here on my tracker, but they will soon be joined by a few more. I've done a wee bit of exercise and a LOT of work this week. My work involves lifting and positioning a child who weighs about 35 pounds (but she's very tall!) In a way I think you're right Judi, I get plenty of ST. But I know I need to balance out the work so I don't overstrain some parts and undertrain others - like I've been doing! If I'm going to continue to be able to do this work in the future, I'll have to get stronger and more balanced, that's all there is to it.

First priority, I have to lose some weight, control my pain and my mood - hence the return to running, whether I "have time" for it or not! So, I decided not to go for another run till the soreness from the last one goes away. I have an awful time with DOMS in the beginning - seems to last anywhere from two to five days. Luckily I've been through this all before so I know what to expect! Lol! Tomorrow is run #2 on my road to recovery and run #1 for 2014.

Nice to see you all - stay warm!

Hi all!

Suezette - I have the wrist one, and so far I really like it!

Don - Welcome! Some of my closest friends have come out of this group!

It's REALLY COLD today; I am getting lots of stuff done in the house! Later this afternoon I am going up to the animal shelter for some volunteer hours.

Hey all,

Did a 3.4 mile wog today - legs are feeling pretty tough, but I shouldn't expect anything less given how long I have been off:) Tomorrow I am planning on doing a walk with the kidlets - snow is supposed to fall here over night, so a snow globe it will be:):)

Hahaha Kimiko, yep, we do start over, but we do it much better each time :)

Don, welcome to the team, we are a fun group of people, a wee crazy, but nice nonetheless!!

ROFL Monty, yep, more refueling, that's what I am sticking to as well:):)

OOOOHHHH Judi, am I ever glad I live in BC!!! Hugs lady, glad you had a wonderful Christmas:):)

Gotta fly, time to hit the hay and get ready to get back to the rink! Kidlets start games on Saturday. Joshy is going to test his groin in net, hope it plays ball for him - poor guy, it has been a rough road this season.

Hugs and love,
Trish

Hi Rooks!
It's a new year and a new starting over. Don, you aren't the only one starting one more time. sigh. Some of us start over and over and over.
It is good to see the familiar names over here. this is such a great group. glad to see so many folks dedicated and slogging through the snow and ice.
Here in Port Angeles it is kinda grey and wet. Typical winter weather. I am wimping out and shuffling away on the 'mill. Back to working my way through C25k. This time, though, I have found a local running group and will meet up with them on Sunday morning! Yippee! It is exciting. They put on our local marathon each year and seem to be a friendly group.
Hoping you all had a great New Years and will be running through 2014.
Kim

Blessings,
Kimiko

A "dusting" of snow today. I shoveled the five inches around 2 this afternoon. We are expecting 8-14 more inches tonight. At least it is light and fluffy....... -5 F right now and the temp. is dropping. Oh, the joy. No, not really:(

emoticon Marty to get back on track. I wouldn't believe for a second that you are alone in the "over-fueling" category. When is your next race?

emoticon Don, and glad you are jumping in. Life happens, like the minor surgery - its how we learn to handle these hiccups. Make sure you ask your doctor ahead of time what kind of exercise you will be able to do and when. The more prepared you are, the better.

I'm going to try walking each night, although for now it will be on the treadmill tonight.

Happy New Year! Well.... I'm really excited about getting back into running after such a long time without. Although I'm just poking right now it feels good to get moving again. This morning was the second time this week for me to get up early and do 30 minutes on the treadmill. I hope to get outside this weekend and do 45minutes to an hour of walk/jog. I'm a little bummed out because next week I have to go in for a minor hernia repair and am afraid that is going to sidetrack my current momentum.

I'm glad I found this team and I hope to get involved on a regular basis!!!

Also - thanks for the welcome messages I received from a few of you the other day! It's great to get some encouragement from folks like you!

Trish, have fun on your run today, and I hope it feels great!

Anne - I had a rough time believing it when my first one hit 20 also, but now they're both there. How are those thighs today after your skate?

Marty - I think you win for best start! Sounds like a terrific day.

Kirsten - with that level of work, perhaps you are already getting in your strength training?

Doris, how much snow.....

Nera, I stayed indoors too - just too cold outside. :(

Another spin bike morning for me, followed by a lower leg pilates workout. So far, the January Jumpstart has been on track.

It is supposed to warm up some by tomorrow, but just to -28C and windy, and then back into the deep freeze again for the weekend. The weather bureau said we had the second coldest December since they started keeping records, and that seems to be continuing into January. I told my husband as we crawled into bed last night, that I wanted him to take me away (south). Enough already!

Hi, Gang!!! I am going to try to get in here nearly every day this year and see how ya'll are doing. I didn't run today (b/c I ran yesterday) and we got loaded with snow that didn't slow down yet! Hubby and the kids cleared the neighbor's pond so I skated!! Really SKATED!! I am so excited! My legs already feel it and it's only been a few hours! I have a full body massage scheduled tomorrow!! Eldest DD bought it for me LAST Christmas and I just now made the app't! I am so ready for it. My calves and lower back(from skating) and elbow and ITB.... I don't know what to expect so I cannot be let down. ;)
The above mentioned daughter turns 20 tomorrow!!! I am NOT old enough to have a 20 yr old.. let me just put that out there. I had her when I was ... like... 10.... or less. ;)
Have a great night, ya'll!!

Happy New Year!

After an outrageous Run Club NYE Party, I finally wpke up to get a text from our Group Leaders, and close friends, to come out to breakfast. So did the daily weigh-in and was glad to see no collateral damage was done that a Bloody Mary couldn't resolve!

Did a reasonable breakfast, came home to watch the Gator Bowl (Go Big Red!), then did a 5K with D. (Last year it was a Nature Trail Walk on Honeymoon Island!) I think we kicked in the new year nicely!

Hi Gang! Happy New Year!!! I worked a long day today 7-5 Fun though! In addition to hanging out with my second favourite family in the whole world, I got to see twin cows born. A VERY cold day out there - well, not as cold as Judi's day - but too cold for me to do any outdoor exercise. Also, because I got home from work so late, I missed the gym.

That being said, I walked 20 minutes. My work is extremely physical - lots of heavy lifting - so I'm in no shape to do any weights or strength today. I'm going to have to dig pretty deep to get through a 10 minute video. Wish me luck guys. Have a great day.

HI all. It was a cold (20F and windy) morning but the sun was shining so, off I went. It was stinking cold!! My nose just about froze off. I need to get a balaclava to wear. The scarf is good to keep my nose warm but it gets soggy when I exhale and makes my sunglasses fog over. Such difficulties:) Snow is on the way....blech.

Life is fragile. Love, laugh and enjoy.

Happy New Year!

Got up early today and headed out to the Mummers Parade. It's a very strange Philly tradition, and I don't really know how to describe it... Legs are sore today from yesterday's strength training and walking. I got a Fitbit for Christmas, and I am racking up the miles. According to my tracker, I walked 9.41 miles yesterday! Hoo-eee!

And we're off to the start of a great year. I am living in a land where it doesn't matter whether it's Celcius or Fahrenheit, it's just too dang cold to run outdoors right now. So I got on my bike this morning in the basement.

Our family is heading in to my hubby's parents for a New Years dinner soon. Wishing you all a great first day!

Going to try to post here. I signed up but rarely post anything. I ran on the treadmill today. Did 3.13. Still new to running so I haven't ventured outside much, besides it is too cold. I just wanted to wish everyone a healthy and fun New Year. Let's do this in 2014!

I believe!

Starting it with a 5 km run tonight! (did a little hot yoga this morning)
2014 already rocks and it's not even officially here yet.
