I did my first 5k on Thanksgiving day, it was 32 degrees, really cold before we started running. My time was 31:18 which I was happy with. I really enjoyed it.

I did a 5K Turkey Trot for Canadian Thanksgiving in October. I walked it with my parents, aunt and uncle. It was nice!

I did a 5k turkey trot. It was really cold--25°--which was fine while I was running, but pretty darn freezing before and after the race. :) Still, I managed a PR of 27:06, so I'm super happy about it!

My 9 year old daughter and I are doing a 2 mile Turkey Trot tomorrow morning. Hoping to be faster than last year which was my first one but still not able to go the whole way without walking some.

On Thanksgiving 2010, we walked our 1st 5K with over 14,000 of our closest Tampa Bay friends. Our time was 59.54 at the St Petersburg Times Turkey Trot. Today, I go to Packet Pickup for our 4th Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot marking our 3rd Anniversary Running! There are now over 20,000 doing this lil race! I've cut my 5K time by more than 50% and have done over 50 races since. This race is now a part of our Thanksgiving tradition!

I'm running in our local Turkey Trot 5K after our local YMCA Thanksgiving Morning workout of spin and yoga. Should be fun!

I'm doing my 3rd Turkey Trot this year. I can't imagine a Thanksgiving starting without a morning race.

Good luck all!

emoticon Teach! You will never forget the sense of accomplishment when you complete your first race. It is truly exciting.

I am shock more SP have not responded to this new thread! As Runner's World has reported, "Thanksgiving Surpasses July 4 as No. 1 Day for Road Racing, New Year’s and Labor Day take third and fourth spots." Incredible that Thanksgiving is the #1 day for runners.

I am in! I am running a 10K Pumpkin Plod Thanksgiving morning. I guess they have to be different and call it something else. I am using it as an easy long run for me. As races go though, I may push it a bit. After this race, I am resting for 3 weeks before beginning my training in earnest for my first HM.
