Yesterday's walk mileage for me ended up being around 8 miles, so I am giving my legs a break today. And that's ok.

Getting some stuff done around the house - I have lots of little things to do that I have been putting off...

Good Morning, Team!

I have several priorities today! One is to shop & choose a new Garmin. It's between two models, the 310XT or the 910XT. I'm pretty sure the 910XT might be overkill as I've been happy with my 305 for the last two years!
emoticon
I still can't believe I've been running for almost 3 years now! I find it even more encouraging that I'm still improving physically and mentally. It's also fantastic that I'm a part of such a supportive running & multi-sport community! This past weekend confirmed it all!

So, I crossed the finish line with a satisfying time at the Dunedin Brewery OctoBEERfest 5K last might. I took 2nd in my Age Group! I must admit I celebrated at the race site and at the home of our Run Group leaders, Rob & Jen! (Yeah, my BFF/running buddy for life Jen!)

I totally embraced recovery today. I had brunch with my girls (D, G, and her Mommy, G (D-i-L)! Then we went to Michaels to buy supplies for Gianna's school project this week! My week is already complete!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Floating around in good fall weather is ok in my book. You have to get the sailboat out as much as you can before the weather turns on us. emoticon The zombie race sounds like a real hoot! Have fun and finish strong!

Enjoy the last of September. I am done with my miles, unless I get a walk in tomorrow.

After a great race last Sunday, I took 4 days off. I made up for it over the weekend.

I ran 13.75 miles over the weekend which included an easy run, speed repeats, and a long run. Yea, I feel great. I don't normally run 3 days in a row, so I will have to take a rest on Monday for sure.

Total miles month to day: 85.

I am considering a race on October 20th called the Hero Half. I am not sure I am ready for the Half, since I have not even done a 10K, but I have completed a 5 Miler. Hmmmm.

Hubs and I went to my favorite place in the whole city today - the Schuylkill River Dog Park. I could sit there for hours watching the dogs!

Made it to the gym before church this morning; tomorrow I'll do another short run to round out the month.

This week, my niece and I decorated out t-shirts for the zombie 5K next weekend. My shirt says "When the zombies come, I am sooo tripping you". Hers says "I don't have to be faster than zombies, just faster than you!" muwahahaha It will be fun.
Bike riding today after work. We have folding bikes for the boat, no gears and back pedal brakes. Good thing its mostly flat here!

This morning I destroyed my PR by 2 minutes at the Thin Mint Spring 5K! I know I started out at a faster pace I normally do but was shocked at my sprint to the finish. I'll take some time to check out my Garmin data another day. Right now, I have to refresh and get ready to do the Dunedin Brewery OctoBEERfest 5K in a few hours! Since this will be a huge Post-race party, I'll be reporting tomorrow...later...possibly afternoon...or evening!

So here's the way my "brother" BobbyD welcomes me back. "poke your head in more often, we would love to "have you on board once in a while"! I wanted to underline "once in a while but didn't know how to do it! LOL! That's okay Bobby. I'll try not to overstay my welcome!

Trish, my friend, I too am so sorry to see you have to deal with yet another life event so soon. You know my heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to you and your kids! Peace my friend.

Carrie - Sorry you didn't get the spin position but, wow, it looks like you gotta lot of life going on right now girl! Live big!!!

Doris - I'm always having one of those moments! Now what was it I wanted to say?

Anne, Suezeette, Penny, - Thanks. It's good to be here!

Kirstin - I'm so far out of the loop that I have no idea as to what happened to you, but I will tell you that I never thought I'd run again. I am and I hope you can again too.

Ran a practice 5k on a similar course as to what I've got coming up in a couple of weeks. Rolling hills but no serious inclines. I managed to finish it without any walking at all, which felt real good. However, I'll not break any time records! Almost exactly 33 minutes. Still, makes me smile!

Life is good!

HI!!!! Suezette- YAY! on the cooler temps. Ours our gorgeous right now and I wish they'd settle right here thru the winter. ;)
Wood-HI!! glad to see you are making a comeback!
Bobby and Anne- HELLO!!
Trish- You know you are always on my heart and mind. HUGS~~
Doris- ugh! work... guess I am going to have to learn to drive our zero turn.. boys in school and working on weekends so our yard is a bit frizzy.
Nera- YAY! work... LOL!! glad hubby has something!
Carrie- hooray on the run.. no matter how long or short, you ran! and I bet that will light a fire for some more, too.
Rich- hope the blister is healing. BLECH! glad you got a rest day...
I have been doing what I can which is 2-3 days of running. Today I did 30 sec sprint/60 sec. jog intervals x8 with a 5 min. w/u and c/d. I had so much energy that I was flying down the road!! Love those calorie burners. Even thought the scale didn't move this week, the pants are looser and belly is flatter and firmer so that is progress. Dear baby is taking some formula, though. That makes me sad. I am eating as much as I reasonably can of good healhty veggies and protein and fats. WHY my body doesn't make the milk that most moms does is beyond me. But, he is a bit happier with a few ounces here and there of formula so I should be thankful for that. (I am , kind of...)
I might head out again with baby in wrap-he is fussy and I have the time (kids are at grammie's today) so SEE YA'LL later!

Carrie, you are one busy lady!!

Trish, all around hugs to you and the kidlets. Prayers too!

I'm getting ready to go do my volunteer stint at the Environmental Learning Center. All this month and next month it's the 3rd Grade program. You can really tell the difference in schools around here. This is my 2nd year doing this program and I have to say this. There is a very distinct difference in students that go to *money* school and children that go to *poorer* schools. The children of the *poorer* schools are much more disciplined and willing to learn. The *money* kids are unruly and brats and do whatever they want with no regard to authority! And those teachers let them get away with it all. I wonder if that is because of fear that the parents will pull their money kids out of the school?

Hi all,

Suezette - I didn't get the Spin position I auditioned for. But I've been super busy - just finished my internship, applying to Ph.D programs, and I start a new job on Saturday teaching early childhood music. Phew!

I'm dressed for the gym... baby steps...

Craziness! I went to Run Group last night, did some great speed work, and I'm ready for this weekend! We all get together after at Sea Dog, share a pint and a lot of knowledge. The danger of all this is we decide to do races together 2 months to 6 months down the road!
We picked up 2 more for 2014 MCM!
3 of us guys are strong possibles to run the Nov. Women's Half in St Pete! (We support the women big time...and I want the bling!)
Sarasota, get ready for us 'cause we're comin' to the First Watch Half in March!
Yeah. we're so addicted!

Wood, so happy to hear all is going well for you again! Can't wait to hear about your race!

Carrie, I thought you were teaching a spin class in Philly. What happened?

I got in a 6.2 mile run this morning and it felt good with the lower temps and dew points! The humidity was still up there (at 97%) but the cooler air made the humidity bearable! Is Fall FINALLY (after 2 years of oppressive heat that lasted into January each year!) coming to FL this year?

I hope and pray it is cause then maybe, just maybe, I will like running again for the fun of it and not just for the health benefits!

Have a wonderful day RRs!!

I tried. It didn't go well emoticon It was just aches and pains that made it so darn unpleasant. I walked instead though. Try again day after tomorrow!

Tomorrow, I'll just focus on getting my freggies and water in. Baby steps.

Nera, I'm there with you sister! My hubs has not had good luck finding steady/stable work in two years. Lots of people are in the same boat, I know. Tell him to hang in there (or else!).

Ahoy gang! Wow, look at me - two posts in one week!! Thanks for the warm welcome, it sure is nice to 'see' you all again.

Wood, that's fantastic news - congratulations. I will take your story in as inspiration. I'm not sure I'll ever run again, certainly not at the level I had been, but I'm sure going to try.

This has been a hard year in many ways, but since things don't seem to be getting themselves any better, I figure I'd better just pick myself up and keep going. I'm walking 2k today and I'll try day 1 of C25k tomorrow. Running is the best antidepressant, right? I'll try not to be too much of an Eyore around here.

Have a great day everyone.

Finally got the wet stuff in from the Gulf! (We do enjoy the rain here in Paradise.) It's supposed to clear up by Noon. That's a good thing. I'm going to pick up my Granddaughter from school today and bring her to our house. D will be with her while I'm at Run Group then they will join us at Sea Dog for dinner! Hopefully, G will be inspired by the runners!

I'm weighing all the different plans to train for the 2014 MCM Marathon. I'm already doing more 10Ks, a 15K and Half Marathons besides the usual 5Ks (Did I just say that?) in the next 5 months. This will just strengthen & condition me for my Triathlons. It's like one big cross training matrix!

Just stopped in to say hello and truthfully to brag a little and, of course, I had to read over the posts here quickly. I got to tell you that it felt really good seeing so many of my old friends still here being the regulars on this thread. Yes, I do miss being part of this group.

Anyway, my bragging.....some of you will remember that my running sort of came to an end about 5 years ago I ended up with a pacemaker that was the result of Lyme disease and then that was followed with a back that caused me a lot of grief and ended up in surgery. During a couple of years there my activity had become very limited and I was pretty sure I was never going to run again. One of my friends keep saying that my recovery is a miracle. I tend to agree. I am back to doing everything that I used to do 5 years ago and that includes all my woodcutting and splitting and yes running!!!! At 64 years of age, I will be running my first race again in 3 weeks and let me tell you - it feels great!!!! Hey, maybe I can really be a Rookie Runner again!

My friends, Life is good!

Hi strangers,

My brother is getting married and they set a date for June 28th - this gives me something to work toward. I miss my workouts. I just feel like I haven't been able to get into a groove since I moved to Philly... I don't know what it is. I guess I just need to suck it up and schedule some workouts into my day...

I am feeling a little over-whelmed. I am working about 33 hours a week, all hours of the day and into the night. On the days I work, I either have time in the morning but none at night. I haven't done laundry in about a week. On my days off, I have been driving out to my folks house to help Mom with Dad, who got a new knee last week. Mom is getting up every 3 hours at night to change his ice/water mix in the cryo-cuff so she is cranky. her health is fragile so she can't really keep doing this. DD has been getting Dad settled with his ice/water at 11pm and then getting up at 3am to change it. She is getting cranky. I feel guilty that I am not there to help more than I am. ARGH!!!!!!!!! I need to run and get some good endorphins going but I have no time.....

Life is fragile. Love, laugh and enjoy.

And while Bobby did his biking and 2 mile run I did a 7 mile run on the trail. So beautiful after the rain! Met a beautiful little deer about mile 5ish. She was just standing right in the middle of the trail/path. Wasn't afraid of me at all. Just stood there. I stopped, took out my phone and took a few pictures. She just stopped at the side of the trail and munched on some bushes and watched me. When I ran off she watched me as if to say "Where are you going?". So cute. Not another soul on the trail at that time. Saw a few during the 7 miles but no one else got to see her when I was there. Then headed to work for a few hours.
Have a great evening all!

We got up early to volunteer at a Youth Tri but were surprised by a huge downpour. D & I made a decision to stay in. I went back to sleep, woke up at the unheard time of 10! The rest of the day has been Sparking, watching NFL Network switch from 9 different games, and recording all my future races on my Galaxy 4 Calendar into Feb '14, the year of the Marathon!

My niece (12 yo) and I are "running" the zombie challenge together this year. Today, we decorated our t-shirts....mine ways "When the Zombies come, I am so tripping you." Hers says "I don't need to be fast, just faster than you". She (me too) is really getting excited for the race in two weeks.

Did a solid speed run on Pinellas Trail with a teammate who just happens to be an Elite Triathlete! Then we hit our now traditional cafe for Mimosas & Benedicts. We bonded as our journeys are similar. We both lost over 100 pounds and now believe "All you have to do is try!" After Thursday night, we have a group of us trying to get in the 2014 Marine Corps Marathon. After this morning, my friend will join us as well It's great when your run club enters events together! He's also going to mentor me in Tris.

Good evening RR's,
Wow, it is fun seeing all the familiar names again.
It is a rainy day here in Port Angeles, Halfway through my walk it started pouring, so we did 2 miles in the rain. No chance to over heat there. lol Sure felt good emoticon
Taught 1st grade today and had a blast. Actually got out for my cardio after work which is, I believe, a first for me.
All you warm weather folks, I am glad you like warm temps. It boggles my mind how you can run in them! hats off to you.
Hope all you racers have a good weekend and that everyone here has a good week end of running.
Kim

Blessings,
Kimiko

hi kids,
hey the weekend is here so what are your plans? i guessing mine will be changing since the plan was to ride 25-30 then a 2 mile run in the morning...... well the weather is moving in, heavy rain and temps in the 40's, not good for biking. i guess back up plan will be the spin bike and still maybe a run. welcome to fall kids the weather is always fun.

have a great weekend and may the wind be at your back

Monty, I've been to Clearwater a few times. If I remember correctly, I think it was Clearwater that had the Iron Girl HM 2, (or was it 3), years ago where we ran over 3 bridges. That HM was a nice route! Really enjoyed it.
I'm on the east coast. The Treasure Coast. It's halfway between Miami and Jacksonville. Our beaches are ok, but nothing spectacular.

Great night at Run Club! The team has truly bonded after an amazing weekend! We did our distances, had a salutatory beverage of choice (Red Sangria) then went to a local sports bar for post-race refuel!

My new BFF run partner initiated a discussion on our next race (15K) which brought up Half Marathons & Marathons. Right now, we've got the 15K and 3 Half Marathons scheduled between Nov '13 & Feb '14! The next thing I know we're planning on trying to get into the '14 Marine Corps Marathon! Really? I'm meeting with my doctor to let him know I'm training for a Marathon just in case we get in! He'll have to embrace that!

Thanks MB.

Looks like the watch may have to wait. Going to look at a horse trailer tomorrow. I've had my own horses for 25 years, and never had a trailer. This is very exciting emoticon I've been wanting a trailer for a while. I finally paid my truck off last spring, so it's now or never.

Hey all,
Big ol spot:)

Josh got placed on the ringette team that didn't include his crush...tonight he was put on the other team...LOL:) He doesn't know it, but we will see:) Moving him means that the other team has no goalie, they will think they are stronger because with evaluation numbers, they are...
...they won't realize it until they see the impact of a trained goalie, but all is good:)

Our teams are fomatted on a 1-20 scale...Josh doesn't get evaluated as he is the only goalie. The teams were even with numbers, so had equally talented players...moving Josh (who has a score of 0 because he is a goalie), means the other team appears stronger....it is not though.

We will see how this transpires!!

Hugs!
T

KMS, I use my Garmin FR70 faithfully, and love it.

Because of Garmin Connect, my runs or general workouts are posted in a log that I can compare and keep track of my training schedule and efficiencies.

I can create my own intervals, or just hit a button and run.

Some models allow for downloads (for programming workouts), but this model only allows for uploads.

This morning, I woke up to a gorgeous sunny 87 degree Floriday!

Went to breakfast & fueled clean for my training run tonight. It looks like I'm doing longer distances now. My new RunBFF, Jen, messaged me, "Are you doing the 15K at next month's Pretty in Pink?" Guess where this is going!

It's a cool morning here today. Just 6 degrees (Celsius) but the beautiful sunrise and that super awesome moon made up for it. I had to wear my mini gloves... not sure I'm ready for that.

Happy Morning!! What a beautiful day. Get out there and enjoy it.

CStream--it's good to treat yourself once in awhile. DH's birthday was Monday, and I finally got around to baking 2 apple pies last night for the office birthday celebration. Stopped at the grocery store this morning to pick up ice cream. 2 p.m. - pie a la mode. You're all invited.

Mirage727--How was the 10K?

Have a great one.

Hey Rooks, how is it going for everyone.

It is just beautiful here in Port Angeles. One of the loveliest fall days i can think of. Went for a nice 5 mile walk and enjoyed every step. Going for a run tonight on the dreadmill.

CStream, sometimes that ice cream must be consumed! I go for the little containers at the grocery. Pre-measured so I don't go crazy. sigh.

Nera, is your hubby still having job issues? That is scary.

Trish, how are things with the family? Still praying here.

Blessings,
Kimiko
