Doing the C25K program and up to 27 minutes of running - more like a slow jog! - and sometimes it's still hard to push past 15 minutes. Keeping at it, though, is a real win.

It is now dark when I wake and dark when I get home. The drive home however is mostly lit. I did my run around town after work instead today. I managed to get 6.2 miles with 3, 17 minute jogging intervals with a 1 minute walk/rest between. Add in 5 minutes to warm up and 5 minutes to cool down and it ended up right at a 10k distance. :-) Very excited!!

You guys are awesome!

I am working up to a 10k. I'd like to get comfortable at that distance and who knows where I'll go next.

I went 5.9 miles yesterday. 3, 17 minute jog intervals with a 1 minute walk. With warmup and cool down the total was 5.9 miles.

I went almost three miles doing run/walk. I ran a full five minutes, then did all the run/walk drills, and did intervals of run/walk during the two "free runs". I'm actually starting to think I might be able to run my 5K. :D I'm actually starting to feel like a real runner. emoticon

8/7--3.00 miles@13'03/mi for 39 minutes

Hard to believe that the end of March my pace was 18'35/mi and I could only run 3 miles at a time. Tomorrow I am going to do my long run and try to hit 7 miles. The furthest I have been able to push myself is 6.65 miles.

No goal or distance is too small. What matters is that you started, you are doing it, and you will conquer that goal and distance in the future!

I decided to see how long I could run slowly before I needed to switch back to walking, so at the gym I hopped on the treadmill at 5mph (I said it was slow!) and just started going. By the end of my 20-minute allotment I hadn't needed to stop at all and was just under 2 miles! I know that's no record, but for me it was a MAJOR win. :-)

Ran a super slow 3 miles last night at Safety Harbor Athletic Club Run just to stay loose. My Achilles was slightly sore. This morning, I'm feeling good. Taped properly, I'll be able to go at Saturday's Top Gun Tri! I'll be better warmed up after the swim and bike and will pace to the pain! That's how we roll!

I started out with the idea of going 7 miles today but I started out later and it was too humid and hot to do more than 6 miles. I made it 5.87 miles. Tomorrow morning I am going to go early (6 am) and go for 7 miles. Overall this week, not including my hike up the mountain in GA, I have completed 16 miles. I took Wednesday off since I hiked up the mountain and was driving back most of the early morning of Wednesday. I was going to go yesterday afternoon but we had a bad thunderstorm come through South Alabama and it sat over us.

So far this week I have ran 12 miles at a pace of 13'30 or below. While the pace might seem slow compare to some this is a milestone for me. I started out walking in January and it took me 30 minutes to walk a mile. Started running the end of January and Feb. and I could barely run for 30 seconds at a time. My first mile in February took me almost 30 minutes. Today I have ran a mile in 12'04.

No goal or distance is too small. What matters is that you started, you are doing it, and you will conquer that goal and distance in the future!

Although this may not sound like much, it was HUGE for me...
This morning I did my warm up on the treadmill for 4 minutes, then switched to a slow run (5mph). Rather than timing myself for run/walk intervals, I decided I would just run until I had to stop. Well, I ran out of time before that happened! I reached the end of my allotted workout STILL RUNNING! Woo Hoo!!!!!!
I am really just SO excited. I only ran about a mile and a half, but to do it without stopping is absolutely enormous for me.
Thank you guys for your support as I start to become a runner!

I couldn't bring myself to run today - but I went out for a 3-mile walk (including hills and steps and the beach - so got my heart-rate up and used my leg muscles!)

Just finished a (short) 5K UV Color Dash run with our daughter! It wasn't timed, and they had to re-route the course due to heavy rains that washed out part of the original course so it wasn't quite 5K, but we had a blast and I even caught up to her! LOL!!!
So: 2.75 miles.
