I agree! This is one of the most important reasons why I want to run -- because I want to be able to enjoy the scenery while exercising, instead of being cooped up with all the other sweaty people at the gym! I have to admit I get headaches if it's too cold outside though (probably need earwarmers ...)

You all sound like you have beautiful running spots! I love close to a beautiful trail by a river, so I get to watch people whitewater rafting sometimes. It's so nice to get outside!

What a beautiful place to run it sounds like! Even if I run on the streets around the neighborhood and in town it is still much better than the treadmill. But I love to be out on trails, hiking or running. Nature calms me and revitalizes me and is my therapy no matter what I'm doing out there.

I agree, it is very hard for me to run on a treadmill. I love being outdoors, there is always something new to see. Most runs are out my front door, so I'm on city sidewalks a lot, but I make a point to plan my runs around the area parks. I'm very lucky that even a three mile run in my area can include a trip through two parks.

I definitely prefer outdoor running! There is always something to see, people out and about always motivate me to run faster! Treadmills bore me, I am so jealous of people who can run on them!

I always run in nature too! I feel so privileged to live close to many beautiful paths. There's a river closeby, a lake and some beautiful fields. My favorite place is the lake right now, it is exactly 10km when I run from my apartment to the lake, run one round and go back. Last time I saw 2 deer, the occasional mouse, lots of rabbits and many dogs :) I love listening to the birds singing in the evening, and just like you, love seeing the changes of the seasons!

I have to agree, I run a paved path through a natural setting as well. This weekend I decided to turn off my headphones and just listen to the noises around me as well as my body. This is how I ran when I started, and it just feels great.

I guess I can't call it trail running since I am running on a paved path that is meant for walking and biking. Even though I keep running the same route there is always something different to interest me. The path I run is next to a stream in a lot of places. It just started snowing here so I've seen the changes from green summer, to autumn, and now white snow. On the last run I saw more animals than ever before. I am getting great at spotting the trout in the water. Even when it is near dark I can see them jump out of the water. So on my last run I saw a bunch of trout, a fat hedgehog that plopped into the water to hide from me after he saw me, and several ducks bathing in the bend of the stream. It was really nice. e run with our two dogs and they really enjoy seeing the wildlife too.
