Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. I hope you have great weather.

I tried barefoot running tonight. I was on the treadmill for two seperate 5 minute intervals. I mostly walked but I did run for about a minute. I thought my arches would hurt but it was the side of my ankles. I think having my foot stabilize itself was the cause. So need to look at some ankle strengthing exercises. Also will be interested to see how my feet feel in the morning.

Penny, we are on the same page with chirpy things at dawn! I too would like to bash their heads in, or at least duct tape their beaks shut!!
So, today, not even 70 degrees and very low humidity. People were wearing jeans! In July.
No run today. Instead, popcorn, lobster and a nap:):)

Andi, we have some of those in our trees outside my bedroom in Calgary. First morning it made me happy, now I just wanna beat their silly heads in. You'd think my cat would keep them away but NOOOOO..... he's too busy taunting my dog.

Judi, Paul and I switched to the 5k. Colin & Logan said they'd do it with us if we only did 5. I couldn't resist.

Saw the Tall Ships today. Saw Gail (RHYNIC), too. Might get to see Mel tomorrow. I'm lovin' this vacation.

Good morning everyone! It's such a beautiful day here today - it's exactly the kind of summer day I love! I celebrated by finally getting out for a run this morning - every morning this week I've woken up to thunder, so it was really nice to simply wake up to the chirpy birds instead. For about five seconds. Then I wanted to throw my pillow at the chirpy thing - I mean, 5am?! emoticon

Good morning!

Perfect morning for a run - if only I was an early morning exerciser and independently wealthy.... Maybe someday!

Hoping tonight will be as accommodating weather-wise so I can get training.

Rich - hopefully you can make up for not running tomorrow emoticon

Agree or disagreewith Ted Nugent - I have to respect that he is willing to put himself on the line and speak his beliefs. A lot of people have strong opinions, but are too afraid to share them.

I thought I would try a very short barefoot run/walk on my treadmill. Don't have to worry about rocks on the treadmill. LOL!!!!

Hit the pool tonight. I stayed longer then I planned because just when I was going to finish everyone else left and I had the pool to myself.

I heard Ted Nugent talk on the radio a couple of times. Totally not what you would expect politically from an old rocker. But very well spoken and well read.

Kirsten-how sad about that apartment complex. Glad all the people were safe, sad about the pets though.

Trish-that darn back!

Rich-I don’t even know where to go with you anymore. Clearly I won’t be following though!

Carrie-have a great swim!

Mel-welcome back to running! Sounds like a fun 5k to get you back into the swing of things.

Andrea-I pay my bills the same way – with a LOT of distractions.

Doris-that’s some brutal temps and humidity.

AnnofNugent-That’s pretty awesome to get to talk to Ted. Sounds like quite the work over on the elbow, hope it does the trick.

I got my run in up the mountain last night. Darn mosquitos nearly packed me away as I got to the top. That’ll teach me to forget my insect repellent again. I’ve made sure to add it to my HTC packing list.

Rich-instead of barefoot OR Mizunos I'll wear knee high barn boots when I run with/behind you!!!LOL!! I'm so proud of you for finishing tha tmarathon. :)
Carrie-best wishes on the tri!
Kirsten-that is very sad on the fire. That would be soooo scary to live through.
Doris-we've got a cool spell today: had rain and it's hovering around 80 so it's 'cool'.
I got in a nice rainy 3.5 miles this morning. My calves are sore from yesterday's barefoot miles. They'll be fine! I'll cycle tomorrow and run another 13-14 on Sat. LOVED reading 'Born to Run'!!! I love good books but HATE when they're finished. :( I got my first PT session today on elbow. She used Graston instruments on the muscles in forearms, then massaged, then ultrasound, then showed me an ice massage(water frozen in styrofoam cup and then you rub it right on the owie!), then put on a patch with electrode and antiinflammatory for the next 4 hrs. And then, when I was leaving....... I SAW and SPOKE to TED NUGENT!!!! Wish I would have told him he should run for President..instead, I said, "Don't let them hurt you back there." LOL!!!! (he's from here and looked like he was in alot of pain-poor guy.)
So, that's it for now.

Rich, you cheat! You run with a tail wind. teeheehee........
So, the humidity finally went away. It is not supposed to be that hot and humid in NH, ever! We typically have mid 80's with humidity around 55%. It has been in the upper 90's and 95% humidity. Blech. I don't like it when I can see the air!!! We had one day that was over 100 F, the first time in about 15 years. Sheesh.
Ran 3 miles outside, no tail wind for me:) The chickens did cluck a welcome when I went by. I learned that deer can make noises. Momma deer made grunting noises at her baby when she spotted me. The baby froze in place. It was kinda cool.

Good morning (it's still morning here, so it I can say that)!

I woke up all ready for my run, and then a nice little thunder storm popped up. Now that it's sunny and clear, it's too humid (for me anyway!) for more than just sitting in the shade with a nice glass of iced tea. Thank goodness for indoor workouts!

Kirsten - our neighbours house burned down in April, so I totally know how you feel. It was awful. They are such good friends of ours and to see that kind of devastation, there are just no words. We are so thankful that they got out okay, because it, too, went super fast. They are actually renting the house on the other side of us as they rebuild, so we get to keep them as neighbours!

I'm supposed to be paying our bills right now (blah), but wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. Hope you all have a great day! emoticon

Hi Gang!! emoticon

I dusted off my old pointy boots and decided it's time to start running again. I EVEN commited to a 5K run Sept 14th. Best off, my son Avery is going to run it with me (or so the 6 1/2 year old says). It's a 5K evening race on the coast of Nova Scotia with a pirate theme. I'm really looking forward to it.

I downloaded C25K for my phone and we started Sunday. Avery didn't last very long, but he can walk it if he feels the need. Tonight I will offically start day 1.

Wow, cleaning in this heat? Not me!
I'm impressed with you guys for getting those runs in - you rock!
Rich, extra propulsion? Does it give you a little push?
Frank, great job with the swim training. I *really* need to work on swimming. I'm terrible at it - can't hardly make it one lap (the short way! lol!!)
Welcome back, Christy and Andrea!
Heather, good luck with the visit and have fun with the puppies! haha - puglet! makes me grin!
Everyone I missed, emoticon

We've been busy. The restaurant that hired my hubby almost two months ago *STILL* hasn't opened. I think he should bail, but he thinks this is the place for him and he's sticking it out. He's down there painting, cleaning and helping with furniture/appliance installation now. Anything to get the dang place open! Who hired staff two months before opening (telling them it will be 3-4 weeks away)? Oy!!!

We had a huge fire in our neighbourhood the other day, still reeling from that. An apartment complex burned down. It's in a large co-op housing development where a LOT of Ani and Raif's friends live. No one was hurt, though pets were lost. I was quite shaken. Such a feeling of helplessness seeing that whole building burning to the ground. The FD got there so quick, I am still surprised that it went up like that. They couldn't get control of the blaze. Anyway, feeling vulnerable and glad to have my safe home and family.

Off to a ground-breaking for our new root cellar at school today. Then a long, hot afternoon/evening in the field garden where my upper body workout will be pumping water, core will be hoeing and leg work will be squats (and squatting!) to weed. Have a great day you guys!

Hey all,
Tried to get MIssy's room purged today...dang, my back did NOT want it to happen. Was supposed to do a cool w/o with Nicki, but it didn't happen because I was still in my daughters room:) Soooo funny, I texted her to let her know what was wrong...she sent me one back that we could reschedule, but that my penalty was to clean her room...I said..."better than burpees"...she said...you haven't seen my room:):)

Gotta fly, it is late, love ya:)

That's right Rich that makes your finish even more impressive since you had to include showering time. LOL!!!

I am going to check out the barefoot running books. I need new running shoes and can't afford it so maybe I should switch to barefeet. LOL!!!

No pool too tired to drive to the gym. So I just walked downstairs to my exercise bike. Still I really want some ice cream. Not sure if I can hold out. Weather and all has me so down that ice cream just sounds so good. Know it won't solve anything but for a little while I will have yummy in my tummy. LOL!!!!

Andi-great job on getting whatever workout you can with a tiny baby.
Beth-that's life! i wouldn't wake that early to run~~
Rich-thanks for the warning!! I will def. work on speed before we run together! I do NOT want to be behind you!!! maybe you could just rein in a minute and take care of business?? LOL!!!
Nera-I LOVE reading your posts. Those kids have no idea how lucky they are to not get run over in the pool. Hubby only goes on cleaning binges when he's ticked off! Too bad he's a mellow guy-our basement might be a tad less cluttered.
Someone's getting a puppy!! I"m not a fan of pugs, but i LOVE beagles!! I told the kids when I was preg. with Miles that "when my baby is 5, I'm getting a beagle." 3 more yrs unless another baby makes us start the count over. HAHA!(no,that's not an announcement,ya'll!)
So, I ran a serious hill workout today(well, for ME it was serious) and it was barefoot. I'm reading Born to Run~~and only reading that b/c I was prompted by a youtube video by a barefoot runner from Ohio. He had several books he recommended and another was "ChiRunning" so that's on hold at the library. This one came to the Kindle from the library!! LOVE free books!
So, today's a fairly low key day: meeting with hubby,me,elderly friend and her lawyer. then, back home to read!! Tomorrow's my first PT app't for the elbow!!

Just popping in to say hi! HI! I've been so bad about checking in here - I'm going to blame the baby, since he can't defend himself yet. heehee

The weather here has been making it really tough for me to get out for my runs, but I've been averaging about one a week. Considering the little man is only four months old, I think I'm doing pretty well! Last run I logged almost 3 kms - I was so excited to get that far!

Anyway, hope you all have a fantastic day! I'm making it my goal to head over here once a day from now on!

Carrie---you had a great start to the day yesterday...what about today??

Christy---sorry about the visit....I am thankful to not have in-law issues....needed people can be tough...

Heather---hope that back is better soon....Weird how the slightest move can send the back wonky..
A new pup coming??? How sweet!!!

Frank---the swimming sounds so much better then running right now....great job with keeping the WO's going...

Doris--great job on not letting this heat stop your WO

Not off to a good start with my HM training plan...never ran yesterday!!! I was wrong to think I would...it was facial day and running is a no-no after so.......hoping to make it up today...its just 2 miles so if I miss it...I think it would be ok....will come home from work and def get in my ChaLEAN Extreme....

Have an awesome day!!!!

Come on Dorris suck it up girly bahaha - I reckon i get sweatier on the DM due to lack of air movement around me - though there is always air movement behind me as I always fart when I run lol.

Neraus so hilarious but remember I showered mid marathon - how many people can make that claim I wonder. lol

Ran on the DM this morning. It was just too stinking hot to even think about going outside! Did 3.5 miles there, then went to work and walked another 5.89 miles. No wonder my feet hurt at the end of the day!!!!
Happy running all.

Rich way to go on your race finish. Is there a sub category for having, shall we say, full pants? LOL!!!!!

Very hot and humid here and no end in sight. I didn't exercise tonight because I had my dental cleaning exam and that always throws me off. I so hate the dentist. But I go because I didn't for a few years and when I went back it was 4 cavaties and a root canal with crown.

Tomorrow I am thinking the pool.

Must be a thing about the weather and cleaning out places. The hubby has been throwing stuff away right and left. Wisely he has stayed away from my sewing room. LOL!!!!

Good afternoon, folks. Repulsive in da 'Buff today. It is brutal outside.

Did 8 miles on the stationary bike and 1 mile on the track this afternoon. Excited that the foot behaved. Back to the pool tomorrow and then a repeat of today on thursday - but going to go for 3 miles.

Nera - Computer guys are generally different - kind of like talking to biologists (looks in mirror).

Rich - great job!!

Deej - Enjoy the trip and I hope it is cooler in Wyoming!!

Trish - If you slept in then you deserved it!! Rest and recovery is needed after a workout like that!

Beth - Hope you got that run in...and hope you didn't melt. It's past terrible out there.

Carrie - I am loving the swim lately!

Christy - emoticon

Heather - Rest! Let's the healing take its course.

Christy, I empathize with a schedule being thrown off due to visits. My mom flies in tomorrow, and even though I am looking forward to her week-long visit, I worry about getting my workouts in.

I wrenched my lower back the other day sitting criss-cross on the floor doing some wall-patching. I didn't even do anything strenuous. My back just decided to give out. It's prevented me from running the last couple days, which frustrates me to no end! It's finally feeling a little better today, but I am still dosing up on ibuprofen.

The good news is that today my boyfriend and I are driving out to see a litter of puggle puppies. Part pug, part beagle. I am so excited. They're too cute for words! Puppies make my heart happy.

I run because I don't have to.

Hey everyone, remember me? Sorry, been MIA for a loooonnngggg time. Had the visit from H-E double hockey sticks with the in-laws who stayed well beyond their planned time, which was too long to begin with. They're very needy so spare time was non-existent.

Now I'm back on track and getting my routine back to normal. I did read back some.
Trish is a workout machine, Penny got to meet Christy, someone spent a night alone with some ghosts in the NM and in general it's just HOT everywhere!

Good morning all!

Go my swim on this morning - felt good to be in the pool. Headed down to mom's house today... it's going to be a hot one! Drink that water!

Slept in today, totally did not get Missy's room purged...but did get a rocking workout in via Nicki, trainer extraordinaire:) I will be joining her tomorrow for a core and glutes class, then Wednesday she is doing a 1.5 hour HIIT class for just me (I feel so blessed:)).

Hope you all are having a fabulous week:)

Tried to read back but I'm just beat & soooo far behind I'll never catch up :( I'm so sorry!

Moved our youngest from one college apartment to another late last week (fun way to celebrate Jay's bday:) Back Saturday & run errands w/ hubs (getting some things for the Condo; bought an antique drop leaf table & going to stain some old chairs from his family (near 100 yrs old) and I've always wanted to use them :) now I can! 10.5 yesterday in 86% humidity, 80 degrees @ 6 a.m. I came home drenched then watched a tri/duathlon across the street. Bizzy bizzy bizzy lil' bee is me!!

Off to Wyoming later this week to hang w/ some Spark pals ;) Sooo excited to be going altough this is my 1st week of Marathon training (official) and I'll have to put off my long run till I return. Going to run a couple short ones though while I'm there although I'm a bit nervous about the elevations.... yi yi yi somethin' like 9500 feet.... but the view is amazing atop the mountains... will make for some fabulous hiking!! Just have to take it slow to breathe :( ...and my friend Steph has Hammocks strung up along the trees... ahhhh... a lil' wine & a little rest... can hardly wait!!

I did not run over the kids in the lap. I wanted to but didn't. LOL!!!!

I walked on the treadmill tonight. Very hot and humid here so outside exercising just isn't in the cards.

Is there something odd about people who work in IT. I apologize if any of you here do but I have had to talk to a couple of different places and their IT departments the last few days. Wow just wow. They all seem incapable of simple communication. I always feel like I need an interpreter. LOL!!!! At least the last couple I have talked to have been polite unlike the hostile guy I had last week. But one of them wasted about 25 minutes of my time before he asked for help from his supervisor who had him refer me to another guy. 5 minutes later and the problem is solved. I know people have to learn but does it have to be with me? LOL!!!!
