Good evening, folks. Third crazy day out of four at the lab. Had a great swim this morning - first time ever with goggles. This cold keep lingering - not fun. My eating is out of control this week...not much else! Enjoy the day!

Beth let me know how you like the tempurpedic mattress. I have been thinking of getting one. We have a sleep number but it is about 10 years old and not that comfortable no matter what setting I put it at.

The short version (a novelty for me) is that I had a great time at the Midnight Run and did a personal best for this second entry in what is already a standard run on my yearly calendar. ( a blog race report is forthcoming.) Despite the fact that I missed a personal record by 56 seconds, I keep it in perspective that I am blessed to be able to run. I also celebrated till the wee hours bringing in the 4th! (Healthily, I might add!) I am determined to continue and also try new races.
emoticon
That said, I am embracing today as recovery and then get ready to do the "Run Thru Hell" in Tampa this coming Sunday. My goal? Survive to the finish line!

Good afternoon all!

Judi - I am much better today, thanks.

Got in a 35 minute swim this morning. Felt really good to be back in the pool. I am ready to put together a training plan for *something* - I have a few events in mind - a 10K in late August, and (maybe?) a half-marathon (!) in October. The Runner's World Half is close to me, and I figure what would be better for my first half than a Runner's World one? I have to look at some training plans and decide if I can do it...

Have a super day and drink that water!

Gotta love small towns when you can walk to a parade and a cop gives you a ride back home because its hot and all uphill! The parade was fun too.

Good morning and Happy Fourth of July!! emoticon

Woke up early(ish) for my stroller group walk and now, listening to the wind outside, I'm almost afraid it's not going to happen. I don't want to walk indoors.
I received an email from Tommy Europe this morning about losing the baby weight... Apparently, the secret is: Burpees, push ups, squats, a plank, stairs (or jog in place) 30-45 seconds each - 1 minute break - do it again. He says this'll help me lose my remaining baby fat. I swear he went into my head and looked at my "exercises I hate" list and then put them all in the email. The things I won't do for that man. emoticon Anyway, since it works all over AND it probably will work on plain old fat, too, I thought that I'd share.

Well, I'm off to breakfast and tracking down the stroller mommas.
Bye for now

Nera - hot AND humid - not a good mix :(

Monty - how was your midnight run? Party into the night?

Carrie - how are you feeling this morning?

Trish - your workouts are killer. Especially in the heat!

Rich, take it easy, and make it fun :)

Went on my run this morning - 3.5 miles in total. I am up to running five minutes at a time now, and it doesn't seem to be bothering my heel. I was running twice a week in June, and will try three times a week in July. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

JudiGirl - if you are already running 10 and 11 miles, that's about as many miles as most training programs long runs. You will be ready!

Surlygirl - I hope you have a great race, but with heat and humidity not in your favor, please don't be hard on yourself if it isn't your best time. Good luck!

Frank - hope tonight isn't worse. Great job on your 1000!

Nera, creepy for sure.

Beth, how did your training run go?

Trish - how is the body tonight? Hope you weren't sunburnt too badly.

Big storm went through tonight. Lots of thunder and lightening, but the power stayed on! Run planned for morning. Love that I can say that again.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. I hope you have some great weather and wonderful race times.

So hot and humid here and will be until after friday. I went to the pool at the gym today. I came up with gym pool rule number 2- if you are a guy and come out in a speedo you better be able to swim like Michael Phelps otherwise you come off looking like an idiot, if you are lucky. The guy tonight seemed to need water wings and spent too much time leaning on the pool wall and staring at the rest of us. He came across as creepy and I cut my pool time short.

Good afternoon, folks!

Crazy night in the hospital last night - and the full moon is tonight!! Yikes! W2D1 of the Zero to 1 miles in the books. First 200 yards without break - that went well! Program calls for 900 and I was able to do 1000 yards!

Monty - Running at night sounds like a blast!

Beth - It was too hot to be outside (for Buffalo).

Judi - WB!!

Nera - emoticon

Hi Doris - Hope you had a great visit with DD.

Trish - send some energy this way.

Beth - take water and be careful out there! Although the sun is now behind clouds.

Deej - Thanks! Cold is feeling better but I am still a little tired. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

Judi - If you can run 11 now then you will crush that HM in December!!

Have a great day, folks!

Deej, hugs. It's always hard to lose someone.

Had a nice run this morning in surprisingly cool weather. Looks like I'll reach my goal of 20m/week this week! So happy! My last long run was 11 but this weekend I'll keep it at 10. The Half in December is looking achievable!

Hello all!

Finally kicked off July fitness minutes. The last two days I've spent sitting on my duff being totally lazy. I just had no intention of doing ANYthing. Luckily that ended today.

Another beautiful summer day! Enjoy!

Deej, I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your friend. Hugs hon. Makes us stop and appreciate life just a bit more when something like that happens.

I got in a great bike ride this morning - over 15 miles in just under an hour. It was perfect conditions for a ride, and the scenery right now is unbelievable. Wild roses, daisies, brown-eyed Susan's, and our Provincial tiger lilies. It is so beautiful. Summer should just last a little bit longer!

Today I'm centering all my activities around my Midnight Run tonight! For the record, this is my 20th race (19 5Ks & 1 HM) since I joined SP on Oct 17, 2010

It's only a 5K but I will eat for a light payload, (did my carbs last night) hydrate, take a nap, and try not to be too excited (This year, the race has added an EXPO! The post-race party will last until at least 1:30am, July 4! WOO HOO!) about it all! The course is on our Dunedin, Fl Causeway by the beach. The weather will be awesome with light Gulf breezes to keep us cool. There is a slight bridge to deal with but besides that, I'm looking at a fast course. Hopefully, and safely, I will have another PB (Personal Best!) What a great way to usher in Independence Day!

Hi Teamies!

Judi, sorry about your disconnect... can be a good thing but wow do ya ever feel uhhhh... disconnected! Welcome back!

Trish, Congrats to Miss :) and way to rock a workout babay!

Nera, nice job on the speed drills! Intervals work on any equipment!

Rich, Wow, I have such a fear of that happening but you were sure a trooper & had a fantastic finish!! Job well done!

Frank, wishin' you some good, productive healing time!!

Hi to some of you new to me folks :) fantastic to have ya aboard & I look forward to following your journeys! EXCITING!!

Life's been busy with fam & work... start official M training soon, already working on my base. 1st week falls the week I leave for Wyoming but plan to run a few there... slower I'm thinking due to elevations. I ran 10 Sat morn; last 3 were hard, got started too late but was glad I did it; always good to knock out your long run. Took me till the next morn to fully rehydrate. Went to Mom's Sunday & had a nice visit. Going to a funeral visitation later today. Close friend of our family, Elder at our Church passed away Sun morn after hard fight with cancer, near my age :( he was a man of high integrity & the best attitude ever... so positive always. The kind of person who makes you better when you're around him.... amazing family all doing their part in Christian service... heart's sad today!!

Sometimes... so much in life seems so trivial... love y'all! Have a fantastic day & celebrate your one & only life!

Hi team. I have been an absentee member for the past week. My DD was here to visit and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. But, she is now gone back to Florida. Sigh.
Anyone want to fill me in on what I have missed??
Ran earlier this week. It was good, especially considering I have only run 2x in the past 2 weeks. Sheesh. Gotta get back to it!!

My healthy living magazine had an article about sprint training. Can do it running or on stairs or on a bike. Pretty much go all out for a short time then cool down then go all out again. I did it on the bike tonight. Would pedal as fast as I can for a minute then regular for two minutes. I think I did 4 sprints. Wow it does make you sweat. We will see if this helps. Between this and the pool am hoping to see some lower numbers for a change. 200 is looming way too close for my comfort.

Congratulations Rich, on your first marathon. Fantastic news buddy - and the time you are holding will be blown away next time. But for now, you have a marathon PR. Woohoo!!

Can you believe that we had no internet connectivity for three days? We were out at the lake, and there has been internet in previous years, but apparently last week's wind storm knocked out enough power that it damaged their cell tower. No texts, no calling, no Facebook, or SparkPeople. My "Spin the Spark Wheel" streak of over 500 days is done! But we are home and I've spun to start the streak again. We enjoyed some great weather - and I loved it. I didn't get the kayak into the water, but hubby and I went on some good bike rides.

Back to work tomorrow. Happy Canada Day (holiday) to my fellow Canuckle-heads!

It was July 1st, but we got to have today off work, and I had no internet yesterday :)

"run through hell" sounds comparable to "Tough Mudder" or "Spartan" races. Good luck Monty!! Someday, I hope to be trained enough to do one of those. Right now, I'm just focusing on finishing w/o having to do burpees or crawl through mud. Baby steps. emoticon

I never thought I would be in this frame of mind. I'm doing the Midnight Run tomorrow night at around 11:45pm kicking off the Fourth of July celebration with a post race-party until at least 1:30am in the morning! Then I'll be looking forward to the Run Thru Hell In Tampa this coming Sunday! I just found out there will be mud and obstacles involved! I am so blessed to be able to do this now.

I won't have another race in August but I will be training for my Space Coast Half as I go for my own "lightning turtle speed" PB! Sept and Oct will bring several 5Ks but I'm excited as 2013 will bring more Halfs...and I started running at 60? Hell yeah! Livin' the journey!

Good morning, folks.

Busy week for me...still feeling the hurts in my thighs after the HM on Saturday. Left foot is not playing well so the runners are on the shelf for awhile. I really need to get in a some exercise but won't have time until a swim tomorrow. To top it off, I am fighting a cold.

Have a great day, all!

Hey all, LOVE the title:)

Hey my American.....ya have to come play with me in Kelowna next year...then we can just kinda get the rights to go over and back the border:);)

Miss did amazing today. Her team won, and will be playing for gold tomorrow. She won gold in goalie wars...we are both burnt, and super tired.

Rich, nicely done buddy...I HATE GI issues during a race - have happened on a bunch of long ones. YOu rocked it, so proud of you:)

Gotta fly, hugs to all:)

Reposting in July thread Just in case ....

FEeling very pound and humbled

Very thankful for all the Facebook shout outs.

Was an awesome event people on the course the whole way cheering you on.

My time a respectable 4:11:45. If you don't want the gory details don't read below

So was heading nicely for a 3:30-3:45 finish went the guts kicked in. Well you know what happens when one desperately needs a toilet. Had run past one a few hundred meters back and was holding holding holding on for all I was worth but there is only so long one can do this for eeeek so I ended up running about a 1-2 km with a little bit extra in my pants

Very lucky they were compression lol

Eventually found a toilet tried to clean myself up as best I could. Lucky the event is along the beach and there was a shower as I had to rinse and ring my shorts. This all happened about 18-20km in so needless to say the sub 3:45 went out the window and I was kind of playing cat and mouse for a lot of the way from there as I seemed to find it harder to slot into a nice pace due to being with slower runners than I had been.

I certainly made up quite a lot of ground and I think that made the last 10k really tough. But I got there it was quite a lot warmer then the weather I have been training in which does not particularly help too much.

But in the end I am not too disappointed at all I am very very happy and proud

I had a great big grin and tears rolling down the cheeks as I headed down that last km and over the line. Poopy legs, hurty blisters and all.

Good evening, folks.

Let's see if I can start a month and keep showing up. Things are well and hope everybody has been fine. Rejoined the Y and started swimming last week. I'm down five pounds for the year and want to lose seven more this year so time to get serious.

Rich - Great job on the Marathon!

So hot and humid here. I walked on the treadmill again. Alternated between watching bull riding and Pride and Prejudice. I like to think my tv viewing is on the eclectic side. LOL!!!!
