"wee jaunt".. yeh, I've never seen that typed up here or on my cell phone.. emoticon Don't know where you'd come up with that one, Deej.

My story for the day - after having my cold for about a week, I felt up to going to BodyPump. I ran yesterday without any issues so I figured "why not?". I made it through the class only by dropping my weights by 2-5 kgs each track. When I was done, I thought about doing BodyFlow (yoga, tai chi & pilates blend) but I got really dizzy and had to bail. Took my BP at the machine and it was super low. I honestly though I was going to throw up and/or faint. Neither happened but it was close. I grabbed an OJ and downed that, then I came home and crashed on the sofa for an hour. Thankfully, Roo had fallen asleep in the car and stayed that way for a while. I still feel like someone ran me over. Roo's in really good spirits today and is playing on the floor by herself, thank goodness. I don't know what I would do if she was in a need-Momma mood.
Hopefully, things fix themselves soon. I hate feeling like carp.

Good news is, I get to spend more time here because I'm too tired to do anything else. emoticon

Hi team. I am in serious need of a nap! I wish I could stay in lawn and garden but, no, one of the assistant managers keeps sending me to sporting goods. I like both but L & G has other people in the dept. to talk to. I am usually all alone in sports......sigh. I do get to check out all the new stuff though. One of these days I am going to buy a pedometer to see how far I walk at work. I think its at least 3 miles a day! NO wonder I am tired.

Happy running Rooks.

Morning all! Day off today (thank goodness since I still have an ankle healing)! It is doing well though. I even walked a bit without the cane this morning. But I need to ice it and wrap it as it feels kinda weak and owie! But really could have been so much worse. Thinking of trying an easy run on Wednesday if all feels normal.
Heather-absolutely on the balance exercises to build up ankle strength. I have been working on that lately (you wouldn't know since I rolled this ankle!). I have issues with balance as it is but that is related to my very low bp due to my auto immune illness. But this sprain was directly related to stupidity....I missed the last darn step! :)
Kirsten-I remember that fall you had! It was BAD! So glad your all healed up! Ewww on the moths!
Doris-you are too funny!
Carrie-Yay on the tri! Thinking of you today on your last day at work...HUGS!
Rich-so cool on the trail runs! Are your trails smooth? I cannot run on our local trails. Too many roots and rocks and as we already know...I fall with weak ankles full of arthritis!

Speaking of arthritis...this ER doc told me that my x-rays showed a very healthy foot. HUH?? This is the same foot that I had a boot on for 6 weeks due to what they thought was a stress fracture. Then after an MRI they said it was not a stress fracture just severe arthritis in the top of my foot (arch). WHAT??? Who do you believe? Was the MRI more detailed and they could see the arthritis? Could the x-ray really NOT see any of what the previous doctor saw of "severe" arthritis? WTHeck??? Hmmmm....
Interesting to say the least.

Heya ROOKS!

Haven't had time to read back so I'll ask for forgiveness & will promise to bee bop by a bit later to check on y'all!

I DID see on FB that my Annie girl sprained her ankle & I'm ALL bummed over that one :( You'll be up & running again in no time if I know you girlfriend! Love ya!

Team title's cute b/t/w :) I was actually thinking of a title the other day but never seem to get on here these days... I was thinking something along the lines of a "Wee JAUNT for JUNE"... wonder why THAT would come to mind ;-
Have to be at my desk in 10 mins; no run over the weekend afterall. Celebrated 33 yrs of bliss on Sat by keeping my lil' dudes :) love it!!! And Joey came home :) WOO HOO! We'll celebrate soon.. life's wild for both of us so a get-a-way's in order... one day soon. Ragner's this weekend... SOOOOOO excited! Reading a book about Marathon training for "Master" runners.... similar to F.I.R.S.T. & so far I like it... I learned the hard way the benefit of quality recovery & I'm sold on the idea that recovery is the extension of the run that in many ways brings as much benefit if not more than the run itself... I truly believe quality recovery has made me a better runner. Still thinking of doing my Marathon Nov 3rd... official training begins later this month.

For now, it's back to the drawing board... met clients in the lobby yesterday for them to sign off on an Emergency filing I need to do this morning to save their home from Sheriff's sale tomorrow & have another appt at 5 tonight. Told office gal when she called yesterday I'd only take 1 of 5 they have scheduled... :( I'm a sucker!

See y'all later & PROMISE to catch up one of these days SOON! Miss ya! emoticon

I wanna do more trail runs. They are so much fun. So different to a road race. There is such a great atmosphere where you take the time to chat to people as you go. :)

Good morning all!

Beth - I'd like to do another tri toward the end of July. There is one that I have my eye on...

Today is a rest day, and maybe tomorrow I'll do a little light recovery workout. I think I'll be spending a lot of time working out in the near future - it's great stress relief, and lord knows I need a lot of that.

Have a super day!

Carrie-I’m so sorry to hear about your furlough. Hope the Wheat Thins helped alleviate your sorrow. And what a great race for you! Sounds like you did it the right way if you’re ready for another. How fun. Someday I’ll brave a tri…

Rich-congrats on your race.

Judi-bummer on the camper. I know how it is when you are ready to head out. We’re planning our first trip of the year next weekend. Except the campground we want to go to is still closed with snow… Plan B.

Anne-ouch!! Glad its only a sprain.

Howdy to everyone else!

Rainy day here today. Should be switching over to snow tomorrow. : ( Hopefully this will be the end of our snow for the year.

Congratulations, Carrie and Rich! Woo hoo!!!

Anne I am SO sorry to hear about that ankle. Stupid stairs! That's exactly what I did at New Years'. I hope you get lots of rest - wrap the ankle real good if you have to be on it to lessen the movement during weight bearing. I hope it heals up quickly.

Judi, that IS a bummer about the trailer. Sheesh. All that from little mice?

Speaking of devastating damage from a tiny pest, we've got Leek Moth in all our garlic beds :o( So far nothing on the onions. We are trying pruning out the damage and pests and dusting with diatomaceous earth powder. I hope we don't lose it all. It's our most important crop and we have it in BOTH fields. :o( I wonder how the pioneers dealt with it all 200 years ago....

I had a great day visiting with friends I haven't seen in about a year. Wow, has it been that long? Fun, food and new babies! It was nice to have a day off to recharge. Back at it tomorrow with renewed energy! Good night all.

Good evening all!

I had so much fun at today's tri. The weather was beautiful, my best friend came to support me, and I feel really good about how I did. I don't really know what my time was - I honestly didn't really care. My goal was to finish and have fun. And I did! I can't wait to do another one!

It really knocked me out for the afternoon, though. I took two naps and I'm ready for another one. But that could be a combo of a lot of things...

Anne sorry about the sprained ankle. Try to take it easy.

Nothing is going to happen with my son and a possible job for a week. He went and talked to the manager of the eyeglass place but manager is leaving for a week. So another maybe, Sigh!!!

I did a run today but since I don't have a watch was hard to do the C25K run intervals. I could go by distance but I can't tell distance for nothing. I did some runs which probably varied in length and time but I think it will all work out okay. LOL!!!!

Anne, sorry about the ankle. I roll mine all the time and worry about spraining it. I wonder if stability exercises make the ankles stronger. A chiropractor friend of mine suggested that my calf problem could be fixed by getting better at balance. I'll bet that's true for ankles too.

Rich, great job on the trail run!

Trish, 350 miles? Wow! Good on ya, girlfriend!

I have 14 days of school left this year and the day after school gets out, we're moving to a new house. It'll be a busy month for me. I also stopped taking a med that is linked to weight gain, so I am trying hard to lose some weight this summer. Wish me luck!

Kirsten - Yeah, the sesamoiditis started in April. Doc could not pinpoint why - could have been when I twisted my ankle, changing shoes, overusage or any/all of the above.

Today is my son's 17th birthday. Where does the time go.

SOOoooo...I am done with running for a while. (Just a bit I hope). I ran my run yesterday morning and then cleaned the house and on one of my many trips up and down the steps I missed the last step and rolled my ankle and hit the floor! Owie! I had my tennis shoes on so it seemed only a little owie but after I took them off..Holy cow! It hurt so bad and I couldn't put any weight on it! I tried to ice and elevate but the darn thing was throbbing. So Bobby and I headed to the ER. Luckily it is only sprained and I need to "rice" it for a few days. Hopefully I will be back to running by the end of the week. Now if I can only figure out how I am going to work the next few days being that my job has me on my feet and walking lots! Yikes!

Have a great Sunday all!

Great job Rich! Kirsten, the pizza was very good - the kids were a barrel of fun!

Just a quick check in. I'm heading out for a slight run, starting to add in a second running day this month and will see how my heel reacts. we have dinner with hubby's parents tonight, and she's a wonderful cook. Yum!

Yesterday we opened the camper to get it ready to take to the lake, and found that mice had gotten in over the winter. Not pretty - in sight or smell. They totally ruined furniture, and feces everywhere. Because of the furniture, we will be making an insurance claim, and have them do the cleaning too. But what a crappy turn of direction when you are looking forward to getting ready to go to the lake. Hubby's bro was in town, and he helped take the furniture out. The fold out couch was on the lawn, and from my kitchen window I could see the mice climbing on it. Where we're Carrie's snakes when I needed them?

Have a great day folks. Especially if racing or 'tri'ing to race :)

Gday all

A great day running at Mt Macedon - A slow race as it was up and down like a mountain Goat. 30k completed in 3:56 or something. Was a great event great comeraderie great organisation. Coldish but actually perfect running weather.

Very happy with the run as it was a good long slow run with 4 hours on the feet.

Hi gang!

Wow, Carrie, I'm SO indescribably sorry. You deserve better.

Nera, you look fantastic! That's an awesome lead for your son! I firmly believe in telling people your goals - more often than not, people have great suggestions/connections for you. And woo hoo on the girlie makeup night! I can't do those - face seems to get red and rashy with new make up. And I *absolutely* have make up older than my eldest child. yikes!

Frank, way to go on the race. So has that been your toe problem all this time?

Judi, what a nice tradition! I hope you had a nice pizza party. (mmmmm.... pizza......)

NSB, good call on the race. Live to run another day!

Sis'Anne, I hope you get an alone date night! Sheesh! BEST of luck to your kid on her test too. What a nice feeling it would be to get another kid off the chauffeur list.

Sorry, I haven't got to everyone but I'm FADING. I'm exhausted. Really, really tired. I wonder, will all this madness make me stronger or kill me outright?

Yesterday I went with my kid's class to the local Pioneer Village. It was great - even though it was freezing and pouring rain. The only total downer of the day was how many kids were not dressed properly for the weather. It made me so FURIOUS. My hubby drove half an hour to bring us a big box of sweaters, coats, vests... practically the whole school lost and found bin. He's my hero. I'm still furious.

Anyhoo, I'm off to bed for my solid six hours (ugh!) I hope the weather down undah starts to behave and that you have a fantastic race, Rich - and all you Rookie Runners!

Pouring rain and cold today. Sigh. A DM run. I find that I run much slower on the DM than outside and the DM is not as physically demanding. I guess its just the same pace. I do change the elevation every few minutes to just change things up.

Happy racing and running:)

Good afternoon, folks.

Up and out this morning for a 11.85 mile run. Drizzle the whole time. I was rather wet. Off to the hospital for a shift today. We runners got a huge Kudos on the French Open this morning. The point was made that other than tennis only marathoners (and I'll take that as all distance runners) are the only athletes made to play their game on concrete (or asphalt)! They noted that after their 6 hour marathon at the Australian Open that neither Nadal or Djokivic played for a month. Point to remember when we start pushing ourselves too far.

Carrie - Very sorry to hear the news. Hope you find something quickly!

Beth - I have been busier in the last three weeks of May than I did in all of April and the first two weeks of May. Thanks for the Kudos - not only a PR but it was by far my best race. I am more proud of the way I ran than I am the time.

Rich - Good luck on Sunday!

News - Listen to your body. It will let you know what you can take. Better to pull up short than get injured. Injuries defeat the purpose.

Anne11 - Great to see you!! And I agree with your point. Sally and I only get out about four times a year and to have somebody invite themselves would not be fun, imo.

Nera - Good vibes for your son!

Hi!!
Did a little 3 mile run this morning. It is my recovery/drop back week and I added the miles I did so far and oopsy...I did a bit too many already. So my long run turned into 3 miles and I believe that was one too many. Oh well. Need to get my butt in gear and clean house. Bobby and John (JoPagph) are out riding the bikes and Derek is golfing so it's just me and the two dogs.
Sprouts-cool on the car AND the 13 miler (13.15...sorry)! You will rock Ragner!
Nera-hope the son lands the job!
NSB-good call on listening to your body. Never regret that!
Good luck to Rich and all the other runners!
OK...better do something!

Anne

You will never find time for anything. You must make it.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. I hope you have the perfect weather for it.

Sprouts I agree you want date night not double date night. LOL!!!

The make up session was fun. I was the only one willing to try putting it on while everyone watched. Was just 6 of us and all friends so not sure what the big deal was. Since I cleaned out my makeup bag the other day and threw most of it away because it was older than my son(kidding but not much LOL!!!) I needed some new stuff.

Also fingers crossed another semi solid lead on a job for my son. I was whinning a bit last night about how he couldn't find one. So a friend said well I think maybe I can help him get in at the eye glass place where I work if he will commit to working for them during his vacations. We called my son who seemed all for it. She made some calls and the upshot is he goes in today(saturday) to see the manager. My fingers are crossed all the way up to my elbows. LOL!!!!

NewSweetBreezes-very smart call on the race but I am very sorry that you didn't get to do it.
Rich-what race is this weekend??? Best wishes!!
Maddie-HI!!
Beth-great job on yo ur running again
Trish-WOW!!! fabulous on all that biking...how's the psoas today?
Frank-HELLO!
Carrie- emoticon
Penny-hope you're feeling better soon....is it a cold?
Doris-nice synopsis of our activities.
Penny-nobody is afraid of parking lots...but in the driving test for license, they have to back into a spot with no hitting cones or pulling ahead and back and then parallel park...and it's Lauryn who's afraid. BUT- I found a car for her yesterday, took $ out of her bank and purchased it before she got home. HA!!That was fun, spending someone else's big moolah. She's thrilled and it's easy for her maneuver and once she passes the test, she'll be able to drive.to.work.without.me.driving.her!!!!
Beth-the run was great the other day!!! And yes,Insanity is crazy! But I loved it!! I did 13 miles the next day. (13.15 if you want to be exact~~and I do. ) I felt great! Nothing at all for exercise yesterday so today will be either TF or Insanity or a run...we'll see what happens around here.
Tonight is date night!! YAY!!! and I mentioned it to SIL yesterday when I saw her out and she invited herself and hubby. That'd be okay if Ryan and I get out together more...but I think I'm going to 'uninvite' her.....we only get out alone once or twice a year!

Today I hit milestone I made a choice to not run the 8 k today for which my body is telling me that my ankes and calves are sore and don't push me as you will cause an injury . Sure I could of done the race and walked / ran and finish the race walking, but the risk risk was to high . The last time, I went beyond what my body was trained for I crossed the finish line but I was a whole 10 weeks healing up. It was so sad I was unable to exercise for that period of time. I want to remember the feeling of slowly getting strong as when I completed couch to 5 k with a my first 5 k race May 6. To remember that I was ready for the race, and crossed that finish line strong and was able to go back to my training after a 1day rest. I will not beat myself up not doing this race and will focus on what I can do and how strong I am getting with my training and relax and love running . I promise to be kind to me.

I will continue with training for my second 5 k race in july and my half marothon in October.

Good evening, folks.

New month so I am going to try to get in here more often. Just so busy. Teaching summer classes, I the chair for my department's search for new faculty and trying to get some writing and research done. Yeah, summer. emoticon

The good news is that I got a PR Sunday in the Buffalo HM despite running with sesamoiditis in my left foot. Weather was overcast and perfect!!

Can't wait to get out for a run tomorrow morning.

Hi all,

I don't want to be a total downer but I also wanted you to know that I got furloughed today. I have a list of things I can and will pursue, but for tonight, my sorrows will be drowned in wheat thins, cheddar cheese, and German wine.

Holy WOW Trish! That's more than eleven miles every day. I had no idea you were doing that much. Great job girl!

We are hosting our school's graduating students for a pizza lunch and informal session on things they should know financially as they leave home. Eleven students - its always a fun lunch when we do this. They have such a fun energy.
