Oh Yeah and starting at the start line my Garmin would not turn on! Argh welll it would turn on but it just kept coming up saying bezel locked and would not unlock. so was running blind with only the time to go by and the occasional clock times as I went along.
Oh well thems the breaks.

FEeling very pound and humbled
Very thankful for all the Facebook shout outs.
Was an awesome event people on the course the whole way cheering you on.
My time a respectable 4:11:45. If you don't want the gory details don't read below
So was heading nicely for a 3:30-3:45 finish went the guts kicked in. Well you know what happens when one desperately needs a toilet. Had run past one a few hundred meters back and was holding holding holding on for all I was worth but there is only so long one can do this for eeeek so I ended up running about a 1-2 km with a little bit extra in my pants
Very lucky they were compression lol
Eventually found a toilet tried to clean myself up as best I could. Lucky the event is along the beach and there was a shower as I had to rinse and ring my shorts. This all happened about 18-20km in so needless to say the sub 3:45 went out the window and I was kind of playing cat and mouse for a lot of the way from there as I seemed to find it harder to slot into a nice pace due to being with slower runners than I had been.
I certainly made up quite a lot of ground and I think that made the last 10k really tough. But I got there it was quite a lot warmer then the weather I have been training in which does not particularly help too much.
But in the end I am not too disappointed at all I am very very happy and proud
I had a great big grin and tears rolling down the cheeks as I headed down that last km and over the line. Poopy legs, hurty blisters and all.

Nera, YIKES, when I am naked, WATCH out...I wanna get clothed NOW:)
Today was stupid for us...run from this field to the next, deal with a parade that we have a float in, then watch a nephew do an amazing run followed up by a dinner that was supposed to take only 1.5 hours, 3 hours later....we got a free meal out of the deal but SERIOUSLY!!!
Have to be at the field by 7:15 tomorrow morning, then to the oval @ 9:00, then brunch @ 10:30, then goalie wars @ 1:00...then the parade @ 4:30, Then the fireworks @ 9:30...need to sleep!!!!
Hugs T

LOL! today was a great 8 mile run. tomorrow's a rest day-LOVE those! Nera-I would have been ticked off if someone was talking to me while I wanted to move around! and to continue on naked in the locker room.....SUPER ticked off! Carrie-enjoy your weekend! It's late already, kids are all still up. time to wrestle them to bed and give D his sleepy vitamins....he's been NONSTOP all day(which is completely normal for him). Have a great night!

Good luck to everyone who is racing today. Rich I hope your tummy settled down and you had a great race.
Went to the gym today. Another woman in the pool started talking to me so I thought here is a time to break out of my shell and talk back. No wonder I don't talk to people. 20 minutes later and she wouldn't shut up. Plus I couldnt go back and forth doing laps with out being rude and swimming away from her. So I did a lot of arm and leg work today. Then she wanted to talk in the locker room. Sigh!!!! What is there about me that people think I want them to talk to me when I am naked?!!!! LOL!!!!

Good morning all!
It is HOT. Hubs and I are going to a picnic down at his cousin's house... kind of just want to sit on my rear all day and do nothing, but not today.
Trying desperately to get caught up...
Have a super day!

Trish, thanks for making me cry!! I love you too, sistah. It was an absolute pleasure and honour to meet you. I can't wait to see you again. It would be SO fun to get our kids in the same 'room' too. *sigh* Someday.
And thanks a bunch you guys. I hate staying away and only coming 'round when I have some tragic news. I really think much more of you guys than that. But I have to say, your virtual (((hugs))) honestly do help. How interesting.
So, who's on Summer break and who's doing the year-round-thing around here? My kids are done school and don't want to do camp... and they are SO bored! lol!!!

Hi all, I might be MIA for the next two days. We're heading to the farm until late Saturday. Not feeling my usual sparky self. Report card day yesterday. Both boys passed but Logan only goes on to grade 9 because no one "fails" a school year anymore. Colin did marginally better but could have done a lot better than he did. So I did what everyone under pressure does, ate my face off. yargh! Anyway, today's a new day. Off and running! ~p.

Oh my, Kirsten, I hit this page, started to go down, read your post, and only want to comment to you...I wish I could tell you how much it meant to actually meet you. I had no idea that would happen in Pittsburgh, but it did....I know it looked like I took it in stride, but when I hit my hotel after, I totally bawled....I love you chicka, you have been such a HUGE source of support for me for so long. I want you to know that I am always here for you, whenever, wherever, if you ever need me, I will be here.
Oy, yeah, did a super HUGE workout today, my trainer kicked my core to the reaches and back!!!
Miss got all "A"'s...she rocked!!!

Hi gang, remember me? Sorry I've been MIA. So much for my 'oooh, I'll have lots more time to Spark in the summer..' oy. I've read back this page anyway Doris - knee THROUGH the tub??!! :oO Oh my GOSH! Did you guys get that boat? Nera, sorry to hear about that finger, dude. (ohhh no she didn't!!!) (yeah, I don't see anything wrong either.) Rich, you're the man, man! I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. All the best!! Yay on the Green belt. Definitely no Mayo's here - but they sound creamy delicious. Hi Penny! Beth, sorry about Coop's continuing issues. I sure hope things get resolved for the poor puppy. And John, enjoy the run. I hope the heat holds off for you. Is Sunday's 16k a Canada Day race?
So, I've been busy at the gardens, with the kids (and their school gardens), the house (and MY gardens! lol!), at the food co-op and with my darling respite client. It's tough - I want SO much to tell you all about her, but confidentiality... Anyway, I can tell you, my little client is sweet and giggly, and though working with her has pushed all my boundaries, I truly love doing it. On a less positive note, I got some very bad news from my oldest sister. She's got a whole bunch of tumours (both lungs, liver, both kidneys) - some quite large. I understand they think this is at least a 2-year-old process. I'm not sure what exactly her doc's are going to do. I understand that there will be multiple surgeries; it's too extensive to remove all of them at once. I'm pretty devastated and worried about her. My dad is starting his third round of chemo next week as well. Very tense times.
So, I can't sleep at all, which affords me time to pop in on you guys! I sure miss you all, and Sparking with you. I will certainly try to make time to chat with you. You're my best imaginary friends, after all!
Have a great day everyone, and don't forget to tell your loved ones that they ARE loved.

Okay now I can't go to the gym pool for a few days. Last night I whacked my finger(again) with my rotary cutter. This time I took a piece off. Almost the width of my pinkie nail and half as long. It smarts. Plus tough to type without my left index finger. LOL!!!

Hi team. Trish: congrats to Missy. A great accomplishment. I don't know of a specializing back clinic in NE. Hope you can find an amazing place to get fixed. Rich: You da man. You know you will rock your marathon. Just think, it will be your personal best, no matter what time it takes to finish:) Bobby: glad your century ride was fun. Now, on to running and swimming. Beth: Poor Cooper:( Rub his belly for me. Nera: Good for to stick to your gym plan. Who else? I know I am missing folks. Oh well. It will come back to me later.
I ran yesterday, just 3 miles but it was good to be out there, pounding the dirt. I haven't run in about a week and it felt great! Tub repair guy is here, making lots of noise and its pretty smelly stuff!

I joined a gym today. They tried to up sell me but I stuck with the advertised deal. $10 a month with $20 registration fee. I can do pretty much everything but take the classes. I really just want to swim in the pool.

just read back..haven't been here in a few days. Mom and Dad came Sat. thru Monday for a grad party. I headed out to the beach yesterday morning-beautiful,alothough chilly, day. Sunburn b/c it was chilly and kids took their shirts off later and I didn't even think about it...I only got my nose burned and chest a bit since I left on my long sleeve nearly the entire day. I got in a long walk with SIL and some running on our way back to the families. I figured my calves and feet would be super sore today-sand is difficult to walk in(even wet packed sand). So, today is a bike ride. Need to get myself out there-see ya later!

Hey everyone!!
Missy got her green belt today, Master Smith gave her some pretty high praises, I am super stoked for that!!! Josh is a green belt also, but Miss is a better one. I know, that doesn't sound right, but part of a coloured belts job is to be patient and teach junior belts. With Miss being a couple of years older than Josh, she does that part better. Both kidlets rock:)
Had an interesting visit with my sports med dude...question for you all....I know I have to have surgury on my back....do any of you have an amazing diagnostic/surgical facility in your area? I will be hitting the USA for this, just not sure where.
Hugs and love, Trish

Sitting here logging food waiting for the Olympic swim trials to start. DH asked me if I was going to watch the Olympics this year. That's like asking me if I'm going to shower this week. Um, yeah.

Today, I finally feel human. It was a tough few days, getting back from vacation, having little sleep, working, driving to airport for a midnight pick up, getting little sleep. Phew. So, did you know that its much cheaper to fix a fiberglass tub with a hole in it than it is to replace it? The repair guy is coming Wed. DD slipped this morning and bashed her knee through the tub. OUCH! She had a Dr's appt anyway so she got her knee checked out. Just banged up and bruised. Good thing we have another shower!

Goodness...I don't even see my last post! Had the day off today and ran a 4.1 miler. My garmin missed one of the laps of my hill repeats and I couldn't finish the run at 3.90 even though I knew that I had done .1 more than it said. I had to finish the gamin at 4. Silly girl! I am tired from the cheering on of Bobby and John at their century ride yesterday. I gotta say I did do a lot of driving around. Poor me! Hehe. The boys are riding up and down these huge hills for hours and hours in the heat and I am driving around in an air conditioned car following them to their rest stops and I AM TIRED! Go figure! Got tons done after my run (including a walk with the dogs). Finally relaxing with my glass of wine now. I can't comment on all that went on since I haven't been here...WAY to much! But I did read and miss you all! Bye for now!

Congrats to Bobby and John----what a great thing you both accomplished yesterday!!!
Deej----how did you like the "new place" for the bike ride?? Congrats on the sign up!!!
Nera----maybe it wasn't even the dude part but the tone of the rest of the comment...people can be defensive when someone says something to their child....don't fret it!!! I would have probably said something too...an hour of listening to back and forth is a long time...
Been a day of playing catch up...progress has been made!!! hoping workouts start up again tomorrow!!! Have a happy....

Last day of vacation. Not sure of my plans but unfortunately grocery shopping has to be part of it.
Struggling a bit with a comment a friend made to me during a florida trip. Two couples stayed in a vacation home together. Their 20 year old son was arguing with his dad over nutrition. I guess the son is studying something to do with fitness. After they had been bickering off and on for an hour I told the son "dude give it a rest." Well that really made him upset. Later when I was talking to the mom she said of my comment "well you have to be nice too." I was floored. I didn't view that comment as not nice in any way shape or form. I have addressed my own son and his friends as dude since about middle school. Dude pick up your shoes, dude come help me in the kitchen. So I am so clueless about why this was a not nice comment I don't even know how to go about addressing the issue. If I am saying things that people view as not nice or unkind and I don't even realize it or understand their frame of reference it is going to be awful hard to stop. Last night I came to the conclusion that since I can't tell when I am being not nice I guess I won't be talking much to people. If I don't talk then I can't be accused of things. So confused right now.
I think once my tea is done a long walk is called for.

century done! 102 miles, 7 hrs 24 minutes in the saddle, 7369 ft elevation gain, 9000 calorie burn, riding with my buddy JOPAPGH, and some awesome support from my dear wife anne, thanks honey! i will be backing off the bike a bit now and try to start running again, been off for three months but in all reality off most of the past year. it time to see if the body has healed..... plan to get back into the pool too with grand hopes of doing a couple of Tri's yet this year.
it is going to be nice not to be gone 8 to 10 hrs on saturdays taking my long rides, so i hope to be around here a bit more but a busy summer is on tap!
miss you all and welcome del remember your first 5k it is the only first one you will have, it is a great accomplishment.

So lovely to wake up after a good night's sleep in my own bed. Two big cups of tea have left me a bit dizzy(well dizzier than usual lol!) No real place I have to be so I finished my book I started reading on the plane. Now just hanging out online in my jammies. Later I will get my walk in. I have tomorrow off from work too. So lovely.

Good morning all!
Got in my seven miles this morning - it was a perfect morning for a run. Humidity was low, trail was shady, and I saw lots of creatures. There were two baby bunnies hopping around - they had the tiniest ears!
Go Bobby and JoPa! Have a super day!

Hey everyone!!
Today Missy did her green belt test, and she rocked it. Had some issues with board breaking, but not a big deal. She will get her green belt on Monday for sure. I needed some stress relief, and, because Don is home, I hit the gym. Did 3.5 hours of biking/legs, and targeted core, and feel way better. Tomorrow Nicki is going to kick my butt for a couple of hours. Should be good for my inner Zhen...LOL:)
Anyhow, must fly, I am trying to organize a couple of parades that our ringette teams are entering...aaaahhhh, the tribulations of the parent volunteers:)

Just got back from a short trip to florida. A friend's daughter got married on friday. We flew down on weds and came back on saturday. No exercise and not so great food. Plus I can't seem to sleep in any bed but my own so very tired. The wedding was nice but something happened that upset my hubby. He wouldn't tell me what so he was in a not so great mood during the reception. Since he was unhappy was hard for me to be upbeat. Still don't know what the issue was and knowing my hubby he will just bury it instead of talking about it. All he would say was it wasn't something I did.
So good to be home. Hope everyone racing this weekend has great weather and a good time.
I am a bit burnt from our three hours we spent on the beach at Clearwater Florida. The sunscreen I bought worked great. Problem was I found that I missed a lot of spots. LOL!!!!

It is a beautiful day today! I don't know how I managed to sleep in until 9:00, but it sure felt good. I guess I was really tired!
Have a super day!

hi!!! another busy day here with no exercise...seems that if it doesn't happen first thing, it doesn't. happen. Boo!!! Tomorrow morningis 5k race with 2 of my boys. I decided this evening that I"m going to try to PR(26:40 from almost 2 yr ago...) My neck is still sore and stiff and my head hurts all. day. long. I did catch a break from it for awhile today. It took a few hrs but the 800 mg ibuprofen kicked in for a few hrs. It's done working now-I'm trying red wine this time. :) Doris-good luck on the boat inspections, etc, etc. Penny- I'll be having "fun" at my 5k ...haven't run one in a coon's age! Anne-you're something else to use that tm!!! I"m not minding the heat as much since Ragnar and Nancy says it's great for the fall races(b/c the blood volume is up so you're faster in cooler weather. ) I'm going to check race time weather for tomorrow....hopefully, it's about 70. It was alot cooler today and we all appreciate it! I bought Ryan a counter top ice maker...we go thru ice like fools and our 2 frig ice makers cannot keep up and there's NO room in any freezer for ice cube trays. OH!!!! Lauryn FINALLY got her license this a.m.!!!! I was/am thrilled!!! she drove herself to work this afternoon...now to wait for the call that she's leaving work and will be home soon...OMG! when I turn my head I swear I have meningitis...(not that I know what it feels like). Chiro said I"m in alignment and she worked on my C3 but no help yet. Maybe next week another visit... Tomorrow my parents will arrive for 2 days. We have a cousin's grad party Sunday. I haven't seen my parents in more than 6months.... Take care-time for kiddos to hit the hay so I can get my beauty and speed rest!!

Rich, good for you for being logical. I keep saying that I'm going to volunteer at a race but then I end up signing up for them. And thanks, I hope so, too. She's going to be a difficult patient. She didn't do any of her pre-op exercises so I'm not too hopeful that she'll do her post-op stuff. Having said that, they found 3 blood clots in her lungs and I think telling her that she could've gone to sleep and not woken up will scare her into action. (fingers crossed)

Hi All
in 9 days I run my first marathon - I can not believe it is almost here!
This Sunday I am volunteering as a marshall at a local trail race. Time to give back. Taper and logic says dont run the race so hey I can still be part of the great atmosphere :)
Have a great one all.

Hey everyone! Just poppin' in to see how things are going. Super-baby and I just got home from visiting my mom in the hospital. She had knee surgery on Tuesday. Has to have the other one done in 6 weeks or 6 months... depends on how she recovers from this one. In the meantime, I'm gearing up to be her personal . Should be fun.
Got my Starbuck's Run for Women this Saturday. It's a 10k and you get a really pretty bracelet, instead of a medal, when you finish. I'm kind of looking forward to a shorter race. It's been a really, really long time. Might be nice not to be exhausted for the better part of a day :)
Anyone else got anything "fun" planned for the weekend?

Hi all! Another super-hot day. Decided not to go for my run this morning - we don't have AC, so I don't think I would have cooled off at all when I got back. Headed down to mom's house tonight - taking the running gear so I can get a little run in tomorrow morning before I head to a conference. Have a super day - drink that water!

Thursday in Oz was so cold, wet and windy. A miserable day to run outside. I now detest running on my treadmill as it has an inbuilt incline which is great for walking, but not when you're learning to run ten k! I'm outside, in my summer running pants and open weave shoes. I think I need to return to gym. I love their treadmills. Will stop grizzling and go jump in a warm bubble bath.
Maddy the Thinner .... Can I do it? Yes I am.

Good morning all!
It's going to be super hot today - it's already getting very warm. Good thing I have a swim scheduled for today!
Have a super day!
