Thanks again All! You are the best group!!! :) I can feel the love in here! Well if I would have kept up the same pace I guess my real time would have been around 36 minutes.

I am so surprised this happens, not that infrequently it seems.. yikes.

Congrats TIGGER62 on kicking butt!

a big emoticon to all!

I was SOOOO aggravated last weekend because I was ROCKING this 10k I was running with my dad... totally on target to majorly PR. Then the finish line came up, almost a quarter mile too soon!!! The course wasn't even 6 miles!!! At the end of the day, we both got our personal bests, I had never run 6 miles at that fast of a pace, and you had never run a 5k before!!! Sometimes the course runs short! YOU DID AWESOME!!!!

Well, it must be frustrating to find that out, but I'll bet that was a good feeling while it lasted! You've got many races ahead to test yourself. I agree with Judi - it's best of all that you ENJOYED your first race. I think it makes a much better story this way anyway :o)

No need to feel embarassed - nothing you did was wrong! I still think that for your first race, you did a fantastic job. Keep that "great" feeling with you!

Thank all for the nice words, and so grateful for all the help....

Sorry to share a bit of bad news... My elation has turned into disappointment.

We have all been notified that there was a mistake with the distance! :( We haven't been told how far off they were only that it was short. So I don't believe I actually finished under 30 minutes for my first 5k now. Now I feel embarrassed for tooting my own horn. Ugh. Oh well, just need to sign up for another 5k to really do it, and know what my real time is. Anyway just wanted to let you all know.

Oh oh! She caught the bug! Now she'll never be home on a weekend. LOL

Congratulations on a great race - a sub-30 minute 5k is pretty awesome. You did good!

I'm glad you were able to take the advise. So many people think they are already going too slow, and are reluctant to slow down even more, even though it helps in the long run.

I'm so glad to hear about your success. Wow, a sub-30minute 5k - something I only dream of! I'm so happy that you had fun, most of all. I love how you put that 'waves of people and bopping heads were electrifying...' truly an intense experience. I'm grateful that you thought of me/us (it kind of feels like having my name 'in lights' - tee hee!) but that race was ALL YOU BABY! Well done :o)

Just wanted to thank you both again for all of your amazing feedback. Especially the advice you gave for someone who's having trouble breathing to slow their pace. I can't believe how much that helped!! I can actually jog now with out stopping to walk!! :)

I just enjoyed my first 5k yesterday, like you said and didn't worry so much. I jogged the entire time. The waves of people and bopping heads were electrifying. I made it in 29:27. I have no clue how that happened! I thought it would have been between 45 and an hour.. Your advice made a huge difference for me.

Thanks again! Can't wait to do it again :)
