I ran my first 5K on Saturday May 5th. My time was 44:45, a little slower than my goal, but at least its something I can improve on. I am still proud of my accomplishment!!

I plan on continuing to train to run another 5K in 5 weeks. And then train for a 10K.

Good luck everyone. Have a great time at the races and may the wind be at your backs!!!

NewSweetBreezes--the anticipation will help you during your first 5K--you'll have such an adrenalin rush. I remember those first milestones--5K, 10K, HM, M--the thrill was always the biggest at the first one. Hope you have someone going with you to take some pictures--you'll never have another first 5K. Wish I had photos of each of my "firsts." Rest is essential--eat carbs the night before and your usual breakfast in the morning--I like to eat about 2 hours prior to a race. Hydration is important the night before. Unless it is terribly hot, you probably won't need extra water--most races have at least 1 water station midway. Be sure to walk through it & drink up. But the most important thing: have fun!! I'll be looking for your race report.

I am Happy and Contented that I completed Week 8 Day 2 and 4.5 KMs today in 41 mins !!!!

Sunday May 6, here I come to complete Day 3 and my first 5K Race.
I just can't help myself to write about the race coming closer and closer!!!

I have planed to have 2 rest days tomorrow and saturday and have lots of sleep and nutrition. I made a homemade curry soup with different beans, lentils , split peas and a couple of beans I have never had and Pearl Barley . I am not used to eating so much of beans and it is making me a little gassy. I have enough cooked to feed a horse. I have decided to freeze it and not eat it until after the race. LOL!!!!
I will stick to whole foods I know and my body is used to!!!!

I have heard that the night before the race you should eat a combination of pasta and protein. What do you think? What do I eat for breakfast and how soon before the race should I eat breakfast. Also what about water how to I make sure I hydrate myself before the race when do I drink and when do I stop ? I am afraid that I will drink to much and want to pee myself and hurt because I need to pee!!!

TOWEELER I am looking forward to hearing how you do.
Get-fit I am really slow to I am hoping to finish the race in 45 and 50 mins.
Thanks to everyone for the encouragement it is really helping to have the support and to know your excited for me.
