Just completed my first 5k! It was the City 2 City 5k in Cleveland Ohio. I signed up for it on a whim, although I've been training for a 5k for months- but just heard about this one last week. The route is in my neighborhood so I thought I'd have a "home field advantage " as I run that course several times a week. The gun time said 31:00 but my gps said 30:35. I learned a ton and am looking forward to another race. I felt really good the entire time, yet clocked my fastest mile ever in mile 2 ( 8:34). I could have pushed harder and been a little more uncomfortable. I also learned that I weave to much and added .2 miles onto my race( per the gps).
I am the captain of Team April Mae in the Fox Cities Walk MS, which is happening today. It's a 5k walk for those affected by multiple sclerosis and the team is named after by BFF, April Mae. It's the first charity walk I've ever done. I'm really proud that I started the team and I'm curious on how long it will take me to finish - I'm used to walking on my treadmill.
At the last minute I decided to run a 5K race with some friends Friday night. It was cold and windy, but I totally rocked it!!! Finished in 30:06!!!!!! The fastest 5K to date was around 35:00, so I was so, so excited :)

Great race today:) For the first 3 miles I had this great lady behind me who talked almost the whole time. Even yelled words of encouragement to those ahead of us as we met them when they were coming back down the trail. Kept a smile on my face most of the way. After mile 3 she went ahead and passed me. I finished the race in just over 53 minutes. It would have been slightly faster, but there were several roads we had to cross and I had to slow down for vehicles. But I am happy with that time because I have never finished 5 miles in less than an hour.
PR'd today!! woot! It was a perfect race day, beautiful weather, calf is a little twingey so not expecting much, but I ran with a fast friend and tried to keep up as long as I could, and it really helped! I cut 20 seconds off of my best time! A little wind after I hit mile 2 slowed me down just enough to prevent me from hitting 30 minutes, I finished in 31:15
