Sounds like a wonderful day! And the mud run...wow! You're one tough cookie! Love to see the pics. Glad your leg recovered from the light house and that you had such a grand day!

My races were fun! The weather was perfect! I woke up a little sore, and race #1 was a little hilly. We started in front of the stadium and ended up just before home plate. It was very cool. I ran the first 2 miles in 20:30 but slowed myself down so I wouldn't be too sore for the mud run. Finished in 33:17 or so.
The mud run was sooooo fun. It has been very dry here so not much mud, the ground just kept sucking in all the water. The military crawl, therfore, was a little bit of water and a lot of stones, which ripped up one of my knees. War wounds! The obstacles were mostly easy but there were 2 walls that were rough, a net climb, and an 8 ft wall that scared the crap out of us. There was a nice muddy crawl at the end so we got very muddy, and we got to jump over fire! I will blog some pics in a little while.

Thanks, KIMMIEP emoticon Best thing about the race was to run the entire thing without walking once.
Hope your races went well:)

Yes, KIMMIEP, I sure want to hear about your races! Thanks for your encouragement! And oh...So jealous that you climbed a light house. I've only done that once while visiting in CA. Happy for your adventure! With a good rest, hoping your leg will feel back to normal soon. :)

Fabulous, ROCKINITR! 2nd place. Wow!!! So proud of you for running in the rain too!

I had a relaxing time at my 10K and bested my time. My son started the race with me but sprinted on to best his 5K time. I was so glad that I had run inclines regularly in my neighborhood to train as almost the entire race was an incline, some steep against 30 mph gale force winds. But all in all, it was very pleasant. My family met me several places en route and were at the finish line. My son, who had finished his 5K, ran back up to run the homestretch with me. I felt so honored. When I crossed the finish line, I did a dance of joy!

The amazing thing is that I didn't feel spent. I'm ready to start 1/2 marathon training!

I was worried when I first showed up for my 5K today as the weather was not cooperating at all. The race was to begin at 9:00. The race officials postponed the start of the race 3 times to wait out the lightning. Finally at 9:40 they decided to start the race. Yes, the lightning had stopped, but the rain was still coming down.

My time was just over 35 minutes:) Not too many lady runners in my category, so I came away with the 2nd place medal for my age division. Now I just need to send off my paperwork for the next race. This one is an 8K end of April.

Here we go:)

I will be running in my first 5K on Sat., April 14.
The race is for the Uganda Living Water Run. I am nervous, excited, and unsure of this event. I bought new shoes on Friday, but after running in them one time and having my feet absolutely kill me, I went back to the store to have a proper fitting. So glad I did. I ran in the new shoes (Saucony Mirage) today and didn't have any pain in my feet, but still a little pain in the hip to knee area. The sales person was so helpful, he gave me many tips on improving my speed and stretching different muscle parts. I definitely want to read more about utilizing cadence to improve my time. So if anyone has an article that described how to use cadence to improve running time, I would be most appreciative of the information.

Here we go:)
