Glad to hear it! Just remember you owe this promise to yourself!

BEAUTY_WITHIN - this is a classic case of life getting in the way and it will be an issue for as long as you are breathing. The best way to get the "woo hoo" back is to simply lace up and go, feelings or no feelings. The getting out there creates the momentum and the momentum brings on the woo hoo of accomplishment.

My experience in this is that I trained for my first marathon working a rotating shift schedule. That means every 7 days I am changing from days to nights to afternoons. that really goofs things up but I still did it. What I had to do was to change my expectations and make them more realistic. I treated the training schedule like i treat a picture of a meal on a box.."serving suggestion". on a goofy schedule, a training plan does not fit into a neat little box on a calendar, it fits where you make it fit. There were many times I didnt run for 7 days or better because my schedule didnt allow it. I adapted my expectations, remained flexible, and moved forward.

Just get your momentum by simply getting out there, the feelings will follow eventually.

you can do it!

-your success depends on what you do when the woo hoo is all through-

I read an article a few months ago to not look at it as motivation. It does not get you anywhere. Look at it as a promise to yourself. From your description, you sound like a person (like me) that keeps your promises to others. Well when you decided to start running and get healthy it wasn't motivation, you made a promise to yourself to do this. You made a promise to eat better and start running. You don't break your promises to others, so you why should you break your promise to yourself? You, just like the rest of everyone else in your life deserve to have promises to kept to you. So each time you're thinking I can't, just ask yourself, remind yourself that you're worth that promise because you truly are.

Also, I know it is difficult to be a caretaker, along with all of the other responsibilties in your life, but you owe to yourself and everyone else to put yourself first and take care of you. If you are not taking care of you, then who is? You will be a better care taker if you have taken care of you. Hang in there. You can do this!

Great advice from everyone here!!
Don't feel like running? Put on your shoes and get out for a walk, then. Tell yourself 10 min out,10 min back...you might just find you want to throw in a little run while you're out but there's no pressure if you don't. Do this each day and soon, that running bug will be gnawing at you...trust me,I've been there...i'm sure we all have.
And Trish is right-NO EXCUSES!

Aww, I feel for you and I can relate! But...you said it's been a week? You can do this! I started running again today and I haven't ran in over a month. I lost my mojo somewhere too but my dd wants to start running and asked if I'd run with her. I forgot how good it feels when I'm done.

Trish had wonderful advice! Good luck to you and I hope you "get out there". emoticon

Tavy, that is awesome advice!!!

You want to get out there and do a run, what is stopping you? Is it your mind...I can't do it, I am too busy, I am too upset, whatever the deal is, I know it can consume you. So is it an excuse, or a reason? Man, that took me a long time to figure out...excuses give us permission to not do what we know is good, while reasons tell us we need to find a different way....

If you have a reason, re-set your goal, but if it is an excuse, let's look more forward than you are. You want to run, and want to achieve better health....if you get out there and do it, then you are getting closer to your goal...

Hugs!
Trish

How about starting C25K from the beginning? Find a friend to run with? Is there a running group near you, you can run with, my local town has a ladies only group, and beginners are welcome.

It's been nearly a week. I've been sick, and now that I'm feeling better, I want to get back to my running, but I'm feeling down and out of shape and just plain BLAH, the idea of going running just sounds impossible again. What happened? I was doing so good! I've been lookinga fter my sick grandma for the last week or so, so that's made my routine all wonky. :( *sighs*
How do I get my running excitement back???? :( emoticon
