I've had horrible knees all my life. I was concerned about it when I started exercising, and I had a few days when my knees were a little stiff. But in general, if I didn't go overboard on the exercise I didn't have any problems. Now that I've been exercising for several months and I've lost a good bit of weight, I rarely have any knee pains.

In the manner of diet--I have been persistently strict in sticking to the things which didn't agree with me until one or the other of us got the best of it.

Welcome Cinmor!

My knees use to grind too. I had bad knees for years. I had a hard time to kneal in church too. Since I started running and I've lost some weight they don't do it anymore...
You might want to get fitted for your sneakers at a good running store if you haven't yet.

HOpe that helps!

I don't have much advice for you except that the cartiledge between your femur and tibia could be worn. You should have an orthopedic specialist check it out.

Hi and welcome,

I'm new here too. I just started the C25k last week. I start week 2 today. The C25k is the Couch to 5k program that everyone in this group seems to be using or has used. The program works you up to being able to run a 5k in 9 weeks.

Here is the link to the web site:

If you have an MP3 player or an IPod there are also some podcasts that can be downloaded that follow the C25k program. There is new podcast for each week.

Here is the link to the podcast:

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Your goal should be out of reach but not out of sight.

Hi everyone! I had actually posted this as a reply, but realized I should have started my own topic! Good ole copy and paste! emoticon

Hello everyone! I am also trying to become a runner! Actually one of my goals is to run a 5K in August (Susan G Komen RAce for the Cure).

I do have a concern though. My knees have been bugging me; they grind really bad especially when going up stairs. Anyone experience this?

For right now, I am going to use the Elliptical machine to at least get my legs into shape before starting "running".

Can you all tell me about this C25k?

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
