Opps, got a few more JASR peeps to shout out to...

And Jenny, who I was so happy to see again! She took care of me...she brought me toe and hand warmers and body part warmers....she thought of me and how I was going to freeze my butt off!

And Elsa, who is our newest RR. Her and Dani have the biggest brightest smiles that I just adore!

I must say that I am VERY BLESSED to be able to meet so many people on Spark! I never had very many friends up until I joined SparkPeople. Now, I don't feel like there isn't a state I could visit without meeting someone!

Now, if I could just get to Canada and meet my 3 Favorite Canadians (I'd say 4 but I already met you Kirsten...LOL), my life would be complete!!!

Knowing all of you have really enriched my life!

(I know I'm being cheezy (not cheese it's beth) but I love you all! And I'm still feeling the effect that JASR had on my life!!)

I started an April thread, though I didn't have any great ideas for a title, lol. Unless I just didn't see an already existing one (I was pretty surprised there wasn't one already!!) feel free to go over and post over there now.

Not sure where to start.... so much going on here and although I don't usually say much, I read.

Congrats to all JASR runners. I really wanted to go but just couldn't swing it.

I finally set a running goal and actually made it, lol. 65 miles in March. We'll see what April brings, hoping for 70. Get to take the DD to buy a dress for her Father (Grandpa)/Daughter dance. It is for K-5 aged kids. She is really excited. Need to get stuff for both kids for soccer and my "official" coaching whistle, lol. Best of all, it's pizza night!!!

Have a great day!

Mikey - I'm glad business has been busy for you - I think that's a good thing, right?! Continued prayers for your momma and I'll keep my fingers crossed for no rain for you on Sunday - hope you enjoy your manly flower! emoticon emoticon

Elsa - so when are you coming to Tosa to run my hills with me? Next weekend you say? Ok then, it's a date. emoticon

I'm not going to a doctor for them to charge me an arm and a leg to xray my booty and tell me my tailbone is broken. If it is, it'll heal. If it's not, well then it will also heal. LOL! I mean, it's like a broken toe - what are they going to do for it? (and this is a perfect time for any @ss in a sling jokes you'd like to make)

Beth - ooo, I love me a good salon day! Have fun!

Anne! GREAT JOB on the weight loss! That's fantastic! And congrats to the kiddos too, even the ones that think they are Godzilla (standing on houses and all).

Boo to no snow Carrie! I hope you endure today with a smile. emoticon

Trish - good luck with the epidural. Let us know how it goes!

Yikes Kirsten, I hope your legs feel better soon! I hope that's just muscle exhaustion and not something bigger.

Nera! Run it! And we expect a full report when you finish.

Ran 5.25 pain free last night - BIG WOOHOO! Erring on the side of caution, I did 5:1 intervals but I think I actually could have run the whole thing. Legs were a little tight but I can work with that - that may have been from the weight lifting on Wednesday, anyway. Going to try to resume my normal training schedule on Saturday with 10 miles. Will got to yoga tonight to get me all loosey goosey in preparation.

Everyone have a GREAT Friday!

Wow! This is quite the thread!! As many of you know I ran the 8.1 miler at JASR w/some of the RR's and did NOT like the hills but I gotta say, yesterday's 5miler went pretty well - even the "hills" I have here didn't seem so bad after PA!! lol!! So there's a positive!

On a not so good note, my little one is home sick from school - kept her home Wed, sent her to school yest but she ended up feeling ill again towards the end of school. So, she's back home w/mama! :)

Carrie - just thinking of the cookies you made is making me hungry! :)

Jenny - are you going to see a doc re; your tailbone...doesn't sound good.

11Sprouts - wow! 11 children...Congrats! What a blessing!! :)

Runningwild - Congrat's on your pregnancy!!

Good morning!! The sun is shining but it's still so bloomin' cold out there!!BBRR...NO SNOW,thought
Carrie-sorry there wasn't enough snow~
Kirsten and Suezette-my 'stud'...HA HA!! I was trying to type less, you silly girls! But, he is a cutie and today he turns 7!!!!! Yes, an April Fool's baby..and I chose his birthdate for induction. ...
Trish-I hope that epi does its job!!!Big hugs coming for you! and I told Ryan last night that we really should just splurge and buy a king size bed. We had Kaelin in there last night for a couple hrs before I moved her back.
Daniel is terrorizing his sisters: he's standing on the doll house and rocking it back and forth..what a BOY!!!
sorry..I forgot the new name but WOO HOO on signing up for that 10k!!! I haven't done a 10k...a 5 mile I have done. I have to say, that out of 3 miles and 5..I prefer the 3. I can go faster knowing that I'll be done soon. :)
I lost over 3# this month!!!!! YIPPEE SKIPPEE!!!! and lost some inches.maybe I"ll write up a blog for some more spark points.
have a great day,ya'll!! yesterday turned out great. I was able to watch DD run her mile and she beat her own time by 15 sec!!! She gets the new running shorts that were the 'carrot' for burning up the track. She also ran the 800m(WHY do we use the metric meas. for track events when we don't use it overall???) and did super well but we don't have that time and I had to leave before it. I got to see DS race his first 100 m dash-he was the last in his heat but it's his first meet...I missed out seeing the 200 but he was 2nd to last in that:) (We don't have speed in our genes here..) The violins sounded incredible for their first year and they're 4th graders!!! I was impressed!
What a great day..looking back. Today will be the same, I'm sure. It's an easy 2 miler this morning, shower, bake cake, shop for bday present,go to fish fry and eat said cake and watch him open presents...LIFE IS GOOD!!!

It's very cruel to tell a teacher that 5-10 inches of snow is coming, and then wake up to less than 1 inch on the ground.

i MUST get to the gym after school today...

Happy April!

Hey everyone!

Today was a continuation of yesterday...stinking busy!! But, it did end, and Don and I went out for a really nice meal. We don't usually go to the fancy type restaurant (you know, the ones that serve meals you see on "The next great chef". We did tonight, and I tell you - the portions were small, the taste was HUGE, and we finished full and totally satisfied. It was a really nice time.

Hey Pen, a girl on board huh? Welllll, let's see what she is made of when you hit Kelowna in August:) A little bird told me there may be another RR joining us if you are ok with that:);) emoticon HUGS to the fam for me:) AND HUGE WET SMOOCHES TO YOU...LOL:)

Carrie, YIKES!!!! SNOW? On April fools...hmmm, are you sure it isn't a joke:);) Stay alert tomorrow chicka!

Frank...LOL, me thinks she is talking about Miles

Jenny, NICE job with the workout - and the gel seat is a MUST:) I remember when I started to bike to work without one - oy, the buttox wasn't quite feeling the love!!!

Beth, I think you should come visit the okanagan...we are really quite friendly (as long as you are gentle:):)).

Suezette, thanks soooo much for the recap on the RR's at JASR...I LOVE hearing about people, and seeing they are the same wonderful people we know here:)

AnnewhoIadoreawholeton...blech...tartar sauce with fries? Oy, we really need to get you to Canada soon:);) Sounds like a busy fun day, and a much packed in spring break! We are just finishing off ours, kidlets go back on Monday.

Tracy, thanks for that tip...I also wanted to know how to use it better for the hammy and IT.

Hikingfan...I've heard that one is really fun - enjoy training and rocking it out:) Are you using a training program to get ready for it?

Judi, you gonna post a pic with your new style? I get mine done on Saturday - Spring streaks, here we come:);)

Kirsten, did the spasm go down to your feet? Are you feeling any numbness? I am asking because that was one of my symptoms from my back stuff. Hope you feel better soon:) LOL about the kidlets - I actually moved downstairs last night because my kidlets had decided to climb in beside Don.

Gotta fly, I get my epidural tomorrow - cross your fingers that I get some positive results:)

Hugs,
Trish

Just a quick hello today.Oh, and a quick complaint! I've had muscle spasms in my quads today. The soreness is going away, but these spasms have been kind of intense - lots of shaking. Leg quake! WELL, just as I was kneeling down to help Raif with his socks one hit my left quad - and I PULLED it! Aaaaargh!!! I'm icing, but I'm hobbled here. grrrrrrrrr... Most annoying.

I'm sorry, I'm being all self-absorbed and just blahhing about myself.

Judi - I hope you get texting soon! It saves me and dh lots of money. I hate that I can't text in the States. Hair-lights huh? Mr. Kotter - ppffffft! snicker! I pictured you WITH a Kotter at first! I don't know if that woud be your look.
Suez - so glad I can look forward to seeing you again. You guys! I'm not THAT cheery. Ask my husband!
Anne11 - studmuffin huh? Too cute! I hope you had a good day.
Frank - I just KNEW you could shed some light on the emergence of structure!
dang I forgot your name - Woo Hoo on the Bolder B.
Nera - Hey, you ran! More than I got done today! Good for you.
Beth - I hope you all are spared this snowy rain tomorrow. Sunny and warm for the weekend!
To all of you who work with children (or, just people who ACT like children!) good luck tomorrow. Remember - look before you eat, sit or leap!

Ok, limping up to bed now. I think I'm gonna have to kick at least TWO people out of there to find a space myself though. Wish me luck. Note to self - next house better have a guest room or my kids are gonna have to learn to stay in their own dang beds.

eta: so, that was a quick hello? lol!

Jenny - Thanks for not talking about it! Those "padded seat things" are gel seats, and I love mine! How was the leg tonight?

Suezette - glad to hear you are going back to JASR in 2012, it must not have been too cold! I am loving your descriptions of our Spark peeps.

Anneofneverwonderingwhattodoinaday - hope you got to see the run events AND the violin performance. Oh, and Coach Nicole has videos for foam rollers in the Spark video section (link below).

Frank - thanks for the XX perspective. I never knew that!

Tracy - good to see you around again.

Beth - thanks for the thoughts. I'm not sure if I'm even hoping this time, have been disappointed so many times in the past. Just walking for now, and we'll see where that goes. As for texting, we were supposed to have service in the first quarter of 2011. The tower is up, and I can see it out my window, but still no power. Waiting......

Nera - fifteen minutes is better than the couch potato thing! Good luck with your race on Saturday.

Carrie - enjoy your April Fool's tomorrow. Sounds like juvenille hay-day!

HikingFan - great job signing up for the race. That should help to keep you motivated to continue your training runs.

Got my hair cut and colored tonight, streaks included. Looking good Mr Kotter!

Suezette - I'm glad you liked the cookies! It was nice to have someone to share them with. :)

Beth - I love my waffle days, but the last week has been filled with some gut-busting food. I went out for sushi on Tuesday and tonight I went out for seafood with another friend. And of course we got dessert (we split it, though). So as much as I'd like a waffle, I think my pants are telling me otherwise. But bring on the Maury!

It's snowing already... oh how I would LOVE to have a day off tomorrow.

There are videos on YouTube showing different foam roller exercises. They are fairly easy to follow along for someone who has a bit more balance and upper body strength than myself. LOL I kept falling sideways or backward and got awful cramps in my shoulders trying to hold myself up. Tells me what I need to work on....

Frank-thanks for that info. I sure thought it was later...

anyone got some videos to show me how to use this darned foam roller? IT band I got...ouch!
I'm looking for lower back, hammies, quads and hip flexors...I've been playing with it and definitely see the love/hate relationship. And the leg with the IT irritation hurts when I roll over it while the other leg does not-is that a 'good thing'? Am I getting the rightt thing?

Anne11 - By 8 weeks, yeah for the most part they can tell. We are all female until about the 5-6th week then testosterone kicks in and the anatomy begins to change. The external genitalia really starts to show about week 7-8. I am not a tech so cannot say for sure that it is 100% clear which gender a baby will be judging from the results of a sono.

*continued JASR*

And Frank and Sally were just awesome too. Sally fit right in! Frank is hysterical. He kept Beth well informed (well mostly, we didn't let everything out....some things just have to STAY in Pittsburgh) of the going on's

And Beth is likely going to have to pay an overage charge for all the texting....LOL

And Carrie was an awesome roomie! For those of you that know how much Carrie loves to bake, well, I actually got to EAT some of it! She brought the most FANTASTIC cookies! And they did go well with all that wine we drank Saturday night....(Opps, what happens in Pittsburgh stays in Pittsburgh!)

And Kirsten is so so sweet!! You should see that smile she has! OMG! She smiles so much you would think it's painted on! And a bubbly personality to match!

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had! I've been to several destination runs in the last 2 years but this one by far was THE BEST!!

JASR 2012.....Oh yeah, If I was YOU, I wouldn't miss it!!
I'll be there!

A GIRL! Penny, you must be over the moon. CONGRATS!

And Frank, I think Metresette is almost as catchy as Milesette. emoticon

Suezette, I told you they were fun! Now you just need to get Elsa on Team Hills and we'll be all set. And you did handle the cold like a champ. (Of course you were wearing like 45 layers, so it's tough NOT to at that point...)

Judi - we won't talk about it then. See no injury, hear no injury, speak no injury... emoticon

Beth - welcome back to the cold! sounds like you have a busy day. have fun!

Carrie - we are amazing. emoticon hope you get a snow day and miss April Fool's!

Trish - have a stress-free day!

Kirsten - that sounds awful. why did you go back to school again? LOL

Hi John, Mike and everyone else! emoticon

Went to spinning last night and my tailbone is crying a little bit today. Nothing a little advil won't cure - I think I'm going to have to get one of those padded seat things until my tailbone heals. At this point I'm pretty convinced that I did in fact break it - otherwise why would it still be huring after 2 weeks? I also lifted weights for 45 minutes and I'm definitely a "good sore" from that today. Going to try out a run tonight and see how my leg does. It felt ok last night during spinning so I'm hopeful. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Happy Thursday!

Good morning all!

So you all were a big part of my meditation class last night. I told the workshop leader about what a great support system you all are and about JASR over the weekend.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... we have an amazing group of people here.

Forecast is calling for 6-10 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow. If I could stay home on April Fools' Day, I would be thrilled. "Miss Thomas, look behind you!" "Miss Thomas, your shoe is untied!"

Now imagine hearing it 300 times.

Have a great day!

Carrie

Here's what I learned today:
Roo is officially 8 weeks, 2 days old and should arrive somewhere around the 7th of November. I'm guessing sooner as my past two pregnancies lasted approx. 37 weeks.
HER heart was/is beating at 163 bpm.
SHE is 16.6 mm long (that's about 3.4" for my American runners)
I posted pics on Facebook. I'm going to post one in my Spark gallery shortly :)

Bobby, we'll have run countless training runs AND four half marathons by the time she hits the ground running. Tonight we covered another 6 miles. Last night we did 3... and this weekend we're going 12. Hills were a little lacking - 9 hills on the schedule, 6 done. We'll get it back. I hope.

Wow, Suezette, tell us if you had fun or not! lol - you just love everybody dontcha? Yeah, me too. You Rookies ROCK! Oh and Deej, you's so sweet. Thanks. Oh and Suez, what a fantastic attitude you have about hills - wow!

Penny, anxiously awaiting news from that scan. Are you planning to 'spoil the surprise' when the time comes? Notice Bobby said 'she'?

I'm still very sore but I'll get back on the road again tomorrow. So far I've only been able to eek out 2k at a time here. This always happens to me after a race though - I just thought I might be immune this time around since I didn't RACE it. sigh.

ROFL....get up just above freezing!

Judi, you would have been so proud of me!
I actually tolerated the cold very well on race day!

Penny, OMG!!! Hills are so much fun! I mean REAL HILLS!! Not bridges! And boy did I ever feel those butt muscles! NOW I understand how you got such a great butt....HILLS!

I even tolerated those hills well! 2:29:45 on hills and in the cold, with an ankle brace on and a training run (ok, I did run faster a couple times....LOL)

And I love Anne and Bobby! I felt so comfortable staying with them! I felt right at home! Heck, even their son Derek was a gem....I had a sore throat from all that talking and he made me a wonderful cup of tea!

And I love Bear!! OH he is so soft and cuddly and PLAYFUL!! Mia is awesome in her own right! Poor baby, thought she had a tic and they pulled out a skin tag...and she handled it so well.....LOL

And JoPa is a FANTASTIC tour guide! He knows his city so well!!

And It was SO GREAT getting to give Mike a REAL hug!!

Awwwww, thanks John. Come back anytime.

So good to have our rookies back in here again. It sure was more quiet than usual last weekend.

Was never a fan of Poutine, even before my SP days. Way too many calories to be able to enjoy.

Penny, did you hear the heartbeat? So exciting.

Went for a walk this morning. The roads are very slowly getting less rutted with ice, and there is actual pavement under there in places! Later this week it's supposed to warm up above freezing, so maybe more melting will occur. At this point, I just want it to be gone

Haven't been on here in a while but wanted to thank Bobby, Anne and Lynn for all their work on JASR and thank Trish, Judi and Beth for all their work here. This was the first team where I felt welcome and have made so many lasting friendships.

Great RR turnout at JASR. If you get a chance, check out my JASR blog.

Bobby, take it easy and heal. I know how hard it is to shut it down.

Mike, hope you make it home soon.

I plan to be stopping in more in the near future.

madie- where are you from with all that snow. oh yea welcome!

kirsten-on FB too much?? trying to catch up from the weekend are you? who doesn't like chili-cheese fries??

p- you taking care of that baby roo? how many miles is she going to have before she comes out running???

trish- ok did i miss something, what is poutine???

susan- your DH is some kinda machine.... haggis????

mike- hope you arrive home safe, sound and well rested (LOL). awesome having you stay with us, although it wasn't much time but very cool.

sprouts - that is a pretty nice tempo pace, goo job

ok, went to the doc today. my ultra conservative says don't give up on the marathon just yet, hummmmm.....she is always the one saying rest. (when i finished the HM saturday i said i was done training, i hurt so bad) anyhow she checked things out today we are going to try 2 weeks(no bike, walk or cross train) off with PT, ultrasound an light stretching . she said the hammy is pretty good but there is swelling in the knee, may have some damage to the ligaments around the outside of the knee and calf is strained. will evaluate again in about 10 days and try to get back into running. then we can evaluate the marathon...........a flicker of hope is still there

Hi guys! My gosh I am so tired still! This long weekend has really got me whooped! Just wish I didn't have to work. This getting up around 4 makes it tuff. I can't seem to find time to respond to all the blogs, pictures and post from JASR.
Mike-hope you made it home safely!
Beth-welcome home!
Susan-oh you SO need to come to JASR next year!
Judi-going to check you pictures of pictures soon.
Welcome new rookie runners. As Mike said, this is the best group ever! Albeit chatty!
My boot is driving me crazy (surprise). I keep thinking..oh it won't be long...then realize I have only been in the darn thing for a week :(
I did a bit (o.k. more than a bit) of walking with John, Suezette, Carrie and Mike on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Lots of hills but so worth it. I figured that I would just suck it up and walk and deal with it later. So I am dealing with it later-now! It is not happy but I am making an effort to stay off it except the 6-8 hours of work. I can do this!
Where is my Suezette? Just wanted to let you all know that she is SO much fun and sweet too! Poor thing had to starve until we could find something open in our puny town...twice! I need to move to a bigger city...or cook more often. Oh and Suezette...when Bobby and I stepped out of the car after work today it started snowing. Seriously??? Grrrrr....

Anne

You will never find time for anything. You must make it.

I am now who I always wanted to be!

Beth-welcome home!!! You don't have to work today,do you? What pics is Mike talking about/??? :)
Kirsten-I am entering the childincollegestageoflife...she's getting lots of scholarships and grants so we will only have to help with little bit. She moves out Aug. 18!!!!

I just made out a tentative grad party list-we're aiming for May 21st-go see the 'hall' that I want to rent. It's a room in the local senior center. Our yard isn't conducive to tents/chairs/etc AND it's going to be dug up for construction at that time. I don't want to mess with it here.

I did my tempo run this .am. -kicked my own arse,I did!
Mile 1(w/u) 11:09
Mile 2 8:56
3 9:08
4 9:28
5 9:39(this is where I should have been-goal was 9:41 for each 5 miles)
6 9:18(yes, I dug deep to go negative here)
7 11:21(THANK HEAVENS IT'S DONE!!)

I'm glad that I did this-wish I could get the pacing closer. I don't want to burn out on race day.
So, what is POUTINE? sounds...'funny' Penny-can't wait to hear the u/s news on the little bean!!!
Okay-that's all I can remember except:
Mike-safe travels!!!
New Rookies: WELCOME!!! can't wait to get to know you better.

Hi all

Good news on the JASR results/race reports, maybe next year I will join you sounded like so much fun!

Back from Paris, Tom had a great race, 50 miles in 11h 54m and a few seconds. He was so pleased with the result, right at the end to officially finish you had to cross the line and then climb up to the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. 50 miles and then a vertical climb- that's just mean LOL. Hhe was hoping to be faster but his tendons around his right ankle have been bothering him so for the last 15 miles he had to slow down, poor thing by the time he finished at 12.30am and we had to walk back to the hotel he had slowed to the pace where a tortoise would beat him. He then hobbled round Paris the next day and could barely go 1/2 a mile without having to stop for a rest.

But he had an appointment with the sports physio and the pain is caused by build up of lactic in the ankle so she drained it right out, his foot is now black and blue but he can walk normally. She also checked out his posture and bio-mechanics, he is weak in his lower back, lower calves, transverse abdominus and protudes his chin which is all linked to the problems in his legs and feet, so she recommeded a set of strength training exercises. I pulled out the training programme that I had written for him 2 MONTHS AGO! and said "oh, strength training exercises like the exact same ones on this training programme" emoticon

"I am a Runner, I love to run & I want to run at least 3 times per week. I was in great shape & now I want to get back there & look & feel like it. I want to always be strong when I run & I feel terrific after I finish. I love the feeling of acomplishment & the anticipation of the next run. I AM A RUNNER!"

Hey everyone:)

Poutine...well, I DON'T like it at all...ummm, at least for the past 5 years:);) Actually, I never tried it until about 8 years ago, but everytime I go by "New York Fries", I think, HMMMMMM.

Today was weird - with the kidlets coming home so late, I didn't hit the office until around 10, then had to leave @ 11:30 for a meeting with one of my chiropractor clients. She has purchased a machine that does heart scans. Mine did pretty well actually. A bit of plaque, but overall a good score. My Blood pressure was another animal, as was my pulse - super high for where it should be if I was healthy. I have the printout to give to Brad tomorrow.

hahahaha Kirsten...me NEEDS my kidlets saving fund:);) TRUST me, over the years I have totally looked there for help. It's kind of like seeing an ice cream cone in your favorite flavour behind glass...you can take it if you break it, but that would be bad:);)

Oops, Joshy needs me...LOL:) Nice to have them home!!

Hugs,
Trish

rotfl Frank! Not all Canadians like poutine! Or so I hear - like, not all Americans like chili cheese fries.

ok, perhaps my logic is flawed.

Good luck on the loan! But imagine trying to save for your children's education while trying to pay for your own like us! argh!! Can I tap into my kids' RESP's? ;oP

Alright, I was all geared up to write a big post and now I just wanna say "good night". Seriously, the fatigue is kicking my butt. I have my first ultrasound in the morning. We get to find out exactly how pregnant I am and, hopefully, hear the heart beat. PRETTY excited. I learned that Roo doesn't like the smell of onion rings, chicken teriyaki or poutine this week. I also learned that I need to slow down when I start my runs. Negative splits need to be my new technique of choice.
I have to say welcome to the new Rookies. I think it's great that you've decided to jump in and start posting with us. I'm super stoked to "meet" new people.
And with that, I'm outta here. Luvs ya Rookies! Sweetest dreams.

Nera - good strategy (talking about the 'mom's on meds' not the handstand!)

Judi - can't wait to see the pictures! Oh and yeah, this particular race course really made camber a front and centre term!!

Frank that does sound like a bizzy day - and, college???? already??? EEK!

Anne - glad no one is sick but feeling sorry for wee teething babe.

Beth - rain rain go away... and please don't bring it back here.

Tingling hands - shoulders, yes. Also, see if your elbows are at a 90 degree angle or if your hands are higher than they should be. Drop your hands and try to swing the arms straight back and forth, hinging at the shoulder. If you typically have issues in your wrists (carpel tunnel or de quairvain's) that angle can be important.

Chemistry is winding up, but right now we're into the gas laws - omg, SO boring!!!! UGH! Spent a bit too much time on fb in class... don't tell!!

hi again guys. I agree that tingling in the hands is probably because your shoulders are creeping up while you run, or you are holding tension in your forearms.

And yeah, go figure a trainer that doesn't follow her own advice. emoticon I guess that kind of goes with the territory though--Im good friends with a nutritionist who went to a convention and she thought she was in the wrong place because the majority of the people there were overweight or obese.

Hit the gym today for a run since there is still 3 feet of snow on the ground and my usual 4 mile run turned into a 2 mile skip basically. My legs just wouldn't cooperate so I left feeling very frustrated but then I remembered that there are good and bad runs. Not every run can be a good one--otherwise EVERYONE would be a runner.

I did sign up for the Dances with Dirt run this july so I am looking forward to that anyway.

I thought that might be what it referred to but I wasn't sure. I have to stop watching BL on work out nights. They had Rulon doing handstands so I had to try one too. I never did make it up. I quit when I hit my head on the wall. My cramped little basement is not the best place to try a hand stand. LOL!!!

Nera, the "camber" is the angle or slope of the road near the ditch. Some are fairly flat, but some have quite the pitch to them. And since we are supposed to run on the left facing traffic, the left foot has to reach farther for the surface going both directions. If the road is quite sloped and you run the same route all the time, it can lead to problems.

Hahaha, you guys are quite encouraging for this budding but VERY novice painter. I'll post my picture up if you all promise to laugh WITH me, and not AT me!

What is the "camber" of a road? I have seen this word not sure I know what they are talking about.

I apologized to son. Told him he could tell the girl I am on medication. LOL!!!!

I had a great treadmill run tonight. The first 10 minutes were pretty rough but then I seemed to hit my stride. I ended up running for over 25 minutes and I felt like I could have done a bit more. I don't usually have such good runs in the middle of the week, Yippee!!!

Madie welcome to the team. I am here in MN and I can't believe how long the snow is sticking around. I am hoping this weekend I can get back outside.

HI!! Welcome,Cadie~
Bobby!!! What did you do ,man???!!!! I sure hope that it heals soon!
Deej-same with you-RICE it ,Baby!!
Nothing much going on here-no sick kids but Daniel has been super grumpy and crying ALOT since late yesterday afternoon. I even took him to see my Doc SIL and she checked his ears last night at bedtime. She says they're clear. So, it must be his teething-he's getting at least 2 in but possibly 3-4. Poor guy~
This afternoon will be busy-dentist,Nat. Tech. Honor Soc. induction,hockey,...and somewhere I have to make dinner and put it on the table. Wish me luck!
to all you injured runners: RICE and behave:)
to all the rest: behave!! LOL!
Nera-I had to laugh at the son, too. We're not doing our job correctly if we don't do that once in a awhile.

Welcome home JASR's! Sounds like everyone had a great time in spite of injuries lol.

While you were gone I finished Week 4 and started Week 5 of my Spark 5k program. Got a question tho, I noticed about 2 1/2 minutes into my run intervals that my hands would start feeling a bit fuzzy. Any ideas of what I'm doing to cause that? I try to make sure I don't clench them into fists. Have a good week and hope that both Bobby and Deej heal quick.

Renee - glad you're diving in emoticon it was so nice to meet you this weekend! Don't worry about trying to keep up. No one can, LOL!

Cadie - hooray, a fellow Wisconsinite! What part of the frozen tundra are you from? I live in the Milwaukee area.

Deej - I totally hear you. Everyone complaining about the hills - I really didn't notice it after the first one. If the road camber hadn't gotten to me, that would have been an excellent race. I finally uploaded my garmin data yesterday and I was at 31 min at the 5k mark. (My 5k PR is 30:37...) All that walking after mile 5 is what killed me. You keep taking it easy and stay off that foot woman! I've been stretching and rolling and stretching some more. I'm going to swim tonight and do spinning and weights tomorrow and then **hopefully** try for a run on Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Bob - do keep us posted on the doc. I'm glad you're taking it easy - I hope it sticks for more than 3 days emoticon

Judi - are you going to post a pic of your FABULOUS artwork? You've piqued my interest - a hidden talent among us! emoticon

Nera - you are totally fulfilling your parental duties. If you don't embarrass him now, what kind of stories will he have to tell his friends? emoticon

Well, I ended up having to work until almost 7pm last night so I did not get to the gym for my swim. I did 1/2 hr of yoga instead when I got home. I decided not to do my regular run this morning b/c my IT is still complaining and I don't want to risk making it worse. Will swim tonight instead - that's good because I need some quiet, head-clearing time since today is the day my beau leaves for Australia and won't be back until the end of April. emoticon I'll adjust, but I have a feeling that the first week is going to be a little rough since the time difference is so big.

There is cake in the break room and it smells awesome. Lord give me strength emoticon

Happy Tuesday!

Good Morning Rookies!!

Thanks SO MUCH for the kudos, the notes, the goodies. You chicks n dudes are the BESTEST & you have no idea how your friendships sparked me during the race when I needed it most!!! I'm beamin' right beside Trish w/ gratitude!

Renee, I am SOOOO thrilled to see ya jump in!! YOU lady have a beautiful brightness about you that's contagious! I regret not having more time to chat but you're not far from me so here's hoping :) dive on into the convos anytime!!

Kirsten, I'm loving the whole "recharged" thing with you girl! I can't tell you how precious my brief time with you was cuz there aren't enuf words :) you're SUCH a JOY & have a dynamic personality!! Runners, I'm sure like me, you've already picked up on this but you just gotta meet this lady for real!

Beth, safe travels babe! I've missed ya but like others have said, fun to mess with ya via text! Felt just like you were at the after party!

Anne, glad you got another one back to school & like Judi, I too have made the call to send 'em back. If he was well enuf for Wii Fit, he should be fit enuf for Wii School ;-P So are they ALL on the mend for now?? And no worries girlfriend, I AIN'T goin' back the JASR without ya!!!

SAME FOR ALL OF YUZ! Ya just gotta put that one on your schedule if it's determined that'll be an annual meet up. Next time however, meet me at the airport! Too dang long a drive for this bod!

Nera, I'm pretty sure embarrassing our children is close to the front in the parenting manual!! No worries :) you'll do it plenty of times between now & the time he's grown!!

Judi, I wanted you there (up close & personal) too doll ! But trust me, you WERE so there; right beside me reminding me of my blessings & that I had the strength to endure & all would be better soon :) Thank you for that ;)

Trish, I'm goin' bloggin' soon chicka!! You too were with me in spirit; you however were on my back crackin' the whip :) if anyone "understood" the emotion, the pain, the determination, it was YOU! Love ya so!!!

Cadie, WELCOME ABOARD!!!! :) Say WHAAAAAAT!!! A trainer doesn't always follow her own advice??? Go figure... (winking emoticon goes here!) I'm so glad you've found Spark & you've landed in the right place if you want encouragement (& a few laughs to boot) as a runner!! I too find it hard to find gym time but then I like the solitude of working out alone :) Wish ya much success!!

Bob, keep me posted IMMEDIATELY on what Doc says bro !!! Inquiring minds n bods wanna know!

When's Suezette get home??

Still pretty sore but throwing together a kid's fav meal n dessert for his 21st bday takes some time & I was on my feet all evenin'. Whole foot was swollen terribly, Insurance approved limited visits with the 1st Phys Therapist I saw but like the one at my Sports Doc better so need to straighten all that out b4 returning. Have a feeling rest is the best med though.

k, 'nuf for Deej. Tons of work to get done. Just wanna add that in spite of the agony, I loved the race. Does that sound crazy?? I could just imagine the beauty of that route in the spring or fall; quite nice in the winter. Have to admit I don't quite "get" the whole "hilly" thing; felt very flat to me outside that 1st hill & that wasn't bad, the decline around the next corner was CRAZY VELOCITY; never had to brake so much in a race & can see why some had knee n quad aches. I regret I couldn't have more fully enjoyed the scenery. I think with a healed bod, I could race the heck outta that course :) just sayin....
