Just had to let you know we're in for possibly the coldest Christmas on record, but we're all smiles about it.

Its raining, raining and raining some more. Hopefully we get enough over the next few days to finally put these fires out which have been burning for nearly a month.

Best part, 3000 volunteer fire fighters are being stood down today (christmas eve) due to the rain, so they can now go home and spend their christmas with their families.

Thanks for all your rain thoughts.

Maddy

P.S. Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks for your kind and "wet" thoughts. Aussie now has fires in three different states. We're in the middle of possibly the worst drought.

My family are in Victoria and the fires came to within 0.5km of their house. It was a very hard 10 days. Two days after posting this thread my sister was on the phone to me, when she puts down the phone and runs outside screaming.

It rained. For absolutely no reason, mind you only for a minute, but it rained. She couldn't believe it and wondered where it came from. I know where, from all the wonderful vibes from the lovely people here. Mind you we need a full day rain to put out the fires.

Yes, they are still burning and several have now joined together. The feel is they could burn for weeks. They've already burnt out over 500,000 hectares of land and bush.

Please keep them in your thoughts as the rain vibes are definitely appreciated.

Thanks
Maddy

Maddy,

I have several good friends in Sydney area, is that anywhere close??? I looked up on internet and see some nutcase is now setting fires on purpose causing one man to lose his life. How terrible! I didnt find out if the fires were contained yet or not there cause Im not sure exactly where there is.

I pray that the floodgates of heaven would come down in just the right amounts to just the right places to extingish the blazing flames, not causing any other damage to the land or homes. I pray that His eye is upon you and keeping you & your family out of harms way and safe. I speak peace to you and yours & all that are effected by these fires and the shock and trauma of it all. Amen!

I hope that the fires are gone and that things are more back to normal. It takes time but it will get back to some type of normal even tho it will be different.

Prayers for you also Nancy, we haven't had much moisture here either in the midwest. I'm afraid if we don't get some the spring will be to dry. Hope all will get whatever they need, rain or sunshine. Take care all.

Maddy,

While it is fall here in the states, we, too, here in Texas are in the 2nd year of one of the worst droughts ever. Haven't seen rain in months...we are so far behind. The lake that is less than 12 miles from my home is down 20 feet (you can actually walk across half the lake on the lake bed). PLEASE pray for rain for all of us who desparately need it. Odd how we don't think too much about wasting water, until there are huge FINES and restrictions for using over your allotment. Best of luck Maddy and I'm sending my prayers.

Nancy

Just found this thread. I'll be doing the rain-dance (you'd think coming from Britain it'll work) for you. It must be very scary knowing that you're in the path of a fire, I can't imagine.

Thanks everyone. While no actual moisture hit the ground here in Oz, today (Sunday 9.20am) the fires are still raging, but some towns yesterday had been saved. The smoke is absolutely horrendous, covering nearly half the state, but again, it will be a scorcher again today.

Thank you for your good thoughts. These fires have been raging all week, but today could be crunch day. Alot depends upon wind today, which way she is going to blow, be it northerly or southerly, as to whether the fire turns back on itself or keeps on its terrible path of destruction.

I should clarify I don't live in this area, but my sister and family do. They live hour by hour. Kids not going to school, DH not going to work, in case they're needed to save their homes. 28 schools have been closed. Its just too dangerous to travel in some areas. Its such a terrible thing to face and you feel so useless I felt asking for help for all the families in this horrible situation was the least I could do.

Again, "thanks".

Here in Victoria in Australia, we have one fifth of our state burning with bushfires. The fire front is up currently 70km (42 miles) long and expected to get up to 100km (60 miles)and many families are in danger (mine included).

Please, I'm asking for as many people to send a positive vibe for rain "down under". We're in for temps. of 40+C (104+F) for the next few days and we're in the middle of the worst drought ever. There is no water to fight most of these fires, they're just being left to burn.

Whether you keep us in your prayers or just send a positive vibe to the skyes for rain, we'd all be so grateful. From all the aussie animals and families I say thank you.

Maddy.

Sorry, this has nothing to do with running.
