Ran Big Sur in 5 hrs 29 min 30 sec. Wasn't PR, but was a Gorgeous and hard run, nothing but hills - up and up and down and down - beautiful Pacific ocean to your left and high cliffs on your right. Perfect!
"I believe in an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out." - Arthur Hays Sulzberger
No blog yet, but I completed my marathon, with high winds, major hills and a smile on my face!!!!! Not the finish time we wanted but considering injuries, non-stop rolling hills from small to huge, high winds (20-40 mph) we are very happy with a 6 hour finish time! We spent time with a woman on the course who was set for a 4 hour marathon until she snapped her achilles tendon at mile 11, she finished 30 minutes behind us, what a trooper!!!! She said she would not accept a DNF, she had a goal to complete and she was going to do it, then she could rest and rehab. Me - I'd have quit!

Short version: Didn't rain, allergies made me sneeze a lot during my run (which actually turned out to be quite amusing), time 30:32 (almost 3 mins faster than last month's race!)
Long version: Check out the blog :)

Blogged my full race report. Cliff Notes version: 27:25 and a PR by almost 2 minutes. Went out too fast or it might have been even better. Official result is pending, but it should be within a few seconds of that.

My run didn't go as well as I had hoped. My allergies have hit me hard this spring, and I was having trouble breathing before the run even began. Despite my trouble breathing, not being allowed headphones, and the 0 degree celsius temperature, I was still in good spirits at the start of the race. I was running with a friend, my first time with a running partner, and we started strong (probably too strong). The first 2km had several hills for us too climb but after that it was a fairly smooth ride. At the 3km mark I got a terrible side stitch, I tried to run through it but it was just too painful. I ended up walking twice before it finally went away. The last km was absolutely brutal, I ran the entire last km thanks to my friend who just kept telling me we were almost done. The official time's aren't in yet; however, I know it was around 32min. I was really hoping to break the 30min mark as my practice runs have been between 28-29min but it just wasn't my time. I have had a terrible time breathing and coughing since my race, and I think my husband and I decided that April is just too early for me to do runs. Springtime allergies and running isn't the best combo. I had fun though, and it was for a good cause. I'll just take what I've learned and do better in my next race.

i am so psyched to report that today marks a big day for me: i ran my very first 10K today! despite having a raging case of strep throat, and the fact that it was pouring rain and freezing cold (9 degrees celsius), i managed to beat my personal best by almost 10 minutes... i could not be more proud of the fact that i finished 4th from last, only because it was in a time of 68 minutes! so i hope that i officially qualify as a runner now! anika
I had a lot of fun yesterday! It was the perfect race for a newbie. I was able to run the full 5K, which was my goal for the day. I even got my picture taken with a tiger (well, a guy in a tiger suit!). I think my next race will be in July, so I'll have time to work on my speed, now that I know that a 5k won't kill me!
Thanks for your encouragement!!

I'm running the La Jolla Half on Sunday the 25th. It's my second one, but this time I trained properly, so hoping it will be better. It's got a big hill right in the middle, though, so we'll see.
Doing the Race to Wrigley 5k in Chicago, IL on Saturday, 4/24. This is mildly sacrilegious since I'm Brewers fan and lifelong Milwaukee resident, but it's my girlfriend's first 5k and she asked me to come run with her for moral support. As a compromise, she has signed up for the Brewers annual Sausage Run 5k in July. Brewers fan does Cubs run, Cubs fan does Brewers run - we think that neutralizes any potential disloyalty.
Race for the Cure 5K on Sunday the 25th in Newark, NJ. This will be my first 5K. Hope I do well.
