I am doing the RFTC in Dallas, but will be walking as the event is HUGE (well over 30,000 people) and because I am still recovering from my marathon on Sunday. Go out and have a GREAT time for a GREAT cause.

I'm with Gigi, when the gun goes bang, resist the urge to chase all the people who take off like rockets.
Enjoy it, and make sure you stick around and cheer for all the people who come in after you. They need the encouragement.

Have a great time!!! You will be fine. If you ran 3 miles on your own, running in a race will be a piece of cake. Just do not start out too fast, I have a tendency to do that in a race.

You are going to run great and don't worry about speed. Use this race as a base for which you can build upon with future races. Above all, ENJOY the experience!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!

Woo hoo and congrats!!! You'll be great and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I did my first 5k last month and couldn't run a mile straight yet. It was a ton of fun and I can't wait for the next one now.
Be sure to let us know how is goes!

I was originally registered for my first 5k in November but kinda got talked into doing The Race for the Cure tomorrow in Downtown Miami. The good thing is it's a run/walk and it'll be ok if I am super duper slow. I ran 3 miles outside for the fist time the other day and I am a slow poke but I did it. I took it very easy so as not to hurt myself and I just got over H1N1 last week. I have gone longer than that on the treadmill, about 4 miles. I am a bit nervous :)
