to get back to my level of fitness? I was up to a comfortable 5+ miles (only been running for 5 months) on a long run, and an easy 3-4 miles on two other days of the week.
Two weeks ago I had swine flu, and didn't run for 6 days. Since then, I ran a 5K race (my first day back, but I had paid the registration fee already, so I didn't have a choice) in 1 minute less than my goal- 38 minutes. I am now back to 3 times a week, and Sunday was my long run at 6.0 miles. My time is the same as it was, but it just doesn't feel as easy.
Is this from the flu? How long will it take to get back again? I want to run a race- 8 miles- on the 24th of October, and I'm not sure I can increase 1/2 mile every week to make it by then. This last weekend, the last block of the 6 miles was absolutely ALL I could do. It was definitely my limit.
What should I do? Please, all of you running pros, help this newbie!
