I went and saw this and I am so glad I did. It was truly inspiring, for runners of any time.
Also, for those of you who have not gone, but are going in February make sure and stay after the credits. They have some additional deleted scenes and an additional interview with Deena Kastor.

Jenn - I LOVED that movie! I laughed, I cried, I clapped along with the rest of the theater when Kathy Switzer's husband tackled the Boston Marathon founder who tried to physically pull her out of the race. My daughter who attended with me is too young to remember a time when women were not allowed to run distance. I recall the 1984 LA Olympics with Joan Benoit Samuelson rounding that last curve to the finish line in the first women's Marathon.
Cheryl -- I'm with you. My friend Lacy and I saw it together last night. We're currently in training for a half marathon in April -- and we made a committment that we'll run Chicago in 2009!
The film was definitely inspiring, and the atmosphere was fabulous. There is something about watching a running movie in a theater of runners -- all laughing at the same little pokes at how crazy we runners truly are =0)
DEFINITELY go see this. It is a beautiful portrayal of several types of runners -- from the elites, to "the Penguin," to first-time marathoners to a grandfather who runs "for the t-shirt."
Hi all - I saw "Spirit" tonight and it was awesome! I laughed, I cried, I clapped! There is a second showing as already mentioned. There was a website that was shown. www.marathonmovie.com I would venture a guess that this will eventually be availble on DVD and I will probably buy it. My daughter and I both loved it and want now to eventually run a marthon too. But first I have to be able to complete a 5K! (g) Cheryl
I have already bought tickets for it and I did not get to use them! There is a second showing, I am so, so glad, on February 21. Someone please let me know what you thought. I have heard only good and great things!
The road goes ever on.... and I must follow if I can.

Just thought I would ask if anyone has plans to see Spirit of the Marathon tonight? I checked a few of our local theaters and they still have tickets to tonight's showing...can't decide if I will go or not.
