Hi!! My goal is to lose about ten pounds till April end and thereafter will set another goal for the next three months. Exercising is a challenge as I suffer from severe osteoarthritis in the right knee and now the left knee and lately feel some pain in my left hip. I will be swimming thrice a week and am looking to learn some water aerobics moves. Any suggestions for weight loss welcomed .

Hey Madhu, Chandu and all the new members!! see a lot of new people have joined our great team and i, the prodigal daughter, have returned to it LOL
how are things with you Madhu? great job at keeping the team alive....so i have another visit to India in Oct this year...bhai ki shaadi so excited and soooo need to get toned. thankfully i did not gain all the weight i lost in 2011....some of it did creep back....BUT i lost a lot of muscle tone....so after recuperating from many injuries am back to kickboxing and LOVING it :)

Greetings, all.

Here to lose weight, be fit, and thereafter, maintain fitness.

Looking to shed around 20 kgs of fat, gain around 4-5 kgs of muscle, and all of it, without doing damage to the body or mind (sterods, stress etc)

I have long distance stamina (into marathons, in the 6-7 hour range), but would like to amp up the short distance speed n strength.

Looking to keep the targets simple, and achieve it in the timeline.

Hi Madhu,
I thought only Malaysians loved their acronyms. Yes, I have been doing strength training or ST as you call it. I suppose the problem is that many of the people in my extended family are somewhat on the heavier side and next to them, anyone who is of average weight, looks small. Thanks for the sites. Absolutely useful. And I have been doing many of the core, upper and lower body exercises.

Hi Madhu, I don't get enough time to track my spark. I am doing 20 min aerobics John Fonda. 20 min yoga by Aloha ,and strength exercise 15 min upper body with Reebok tube. I also do crunches.
I am not loosing any weight but yes i loss some inches. not loosing any belly fats. plz guide me what should i do. and correct me if i am doing anything wrong.I don't have any diet plan I am vegetarian. Having 1 cup morning tea with two fiber biscuits then doing work out two chapati with sabji in afternoon and skip dinner many times in a week but take milk at night time.
Oh I am loosing interest in workout because not getting good result please solve my issue. I sleep for 7 hours and drinking 6-7 glass of water also

Hey everyone....so am off the wagon again!! everyone around me is losing weight coz they stick to the plan unlike me who keeps hopping on and off!!! it makes me feel really bad and i am like...get the weight off already!!!
so here is what i am proposing...can we have one of those old time contests or accountability things we were so good at....like 4 things i am going to stick to this week
1. stay within my calorie range
2. work out x minutes a week/ or burn x amount of carlories
3. Will not eat ...... (processed sugar? fried stuff?)
4. one personal goal (for me would be to get at least 7 hrs of sleep)
and we check in everyday and post our succcess/challenege...
the reason i say one week is so that it seems doable for people and its a short term goal we can feel good about meeting?
So what say comrades?? :D are we in???

Hey guys,

I joined SP recently. Nice to see you all Indians here.

I am currently 114 kg when i started my mission 1.5 weeks back. Now I am 112Kg. Hope I can loose at the same speed.

I am not following any professional advice but just the internet so any advice/tips. Please they are most welcome.

I agree I have not been logging in. I have good news:) I met my short term goal of getting to 135 lbs. Have still 15 lbs to go, but will enjoy this vacation outdoors... emoticon

@BHATTHD...best for waistline trimming is a clean, nutrient dense, whole food diet.

I do track my food with the SP food tracker, but have fallen off track over the last couple of weeks due to hectic times at work/family...hope to start tracking again as soon as I get back a maid at home ;)

seems like Anita, Parm and Rapunzel are doing great and Madhu u seem to be doing an awesme job as usual of keeping everything going :)
I am still stuck at my weight that i gained during my vacation to India but i am working out pretty regularly and have added spinning classes among other cardio things i do. hope to see results soon...keeping fingers crossed!!!

Hello,

After running or walking, specific stretching exercises should be done, with this I mean, exercises that focus on ankle muscles, legs and lower back, for about 1O minutes,
SP, has great stretching exercising for runners/walkers videos.

Also 'walk away the pounds" is an excellent program for indoors walking and it includes warm up and cool down routines and stretching .

Also, a warm up before and after may help. Anytime there is a break from the routine, some pain is normal when going back into the routine.

When you talk about spot running/jogging it may help you lose weight only if combined with proper nutrition/calorie deficit.

Bodypain....were you doing the jogging/running on marble/tiled floor? barefoot? If yes, that is your answer to body/shin pain. Jogging/running on the spot should only be performed when wearing supportive, cushioned footwear and on soft earth/ground. This protects your knee joints and will not cause shin splints.

I have a small question -

Has anybody ever tried SPOT running (jogging by standing on one spot)? If yes, does it help you to lose weight? When I tried by myself, it left me with bodypain. :(

it took ime a very long time to get there.

i have Thyroids and so my weight loss was very very slow and then it made a big burst

whatever never give up the results always come much later so just wait and see
