I have blown through a ten-pack of pilates mat classes in record time (for me, considering I do most of my pilates matwork in the close-in four walls at home).
I reached a breakthrough in mat class today, in learning how the breath works with the core, in releasing from a half rolling-like-a-ball ...
In my home routine, I try to do 3 C-sits, modified ...
at a yoga studio nearby, on the other hand, I had trouble using up the class pack ... though I did not go beyond the expiry date ... When they stopped being 1-year or unlimited expiration, THAT's when I stopped buying yoga classes ...
So, now I know. It's a question of liking the classes enough to use them up in a reasonable amount of time. Now, I am not young and I am not naturally athletic. I did kick my own butt in my own yoga practice at home, in the service of cross-training to the yoga classes.
I do the same with these studio pilates classes. But the difference is, I don't have to be frantic, apprehensive or obsessed about my home practice sessions.
And -- major difference -- the pilates studio got repeat business from me.
