It's good they're doing the research, of course, but I don't need it to know these things aren't' good for me. I've never been a big soda drinker, and now when I have a sugared soda I feel all shaky when I'm done with a "serving" because it's just too much sugar for me - and if I try the sugar free kind, I get headaches (I've had headaches from every kind of artificial sweetener there is, including "all-natural" ones like stevia). So I'll stick to water or iced tea (brewed not bottled)! I occasionally try a cane-sugar sweetened soda - those don't seem as bad on my system, and some like GUS (Grown-Up Soda) have less sweetener too. But when we try those, we're usually sharing the bottle among 2 or 3!

Of course we all *KNOW* how unhealthy sugary drinks can be. Here is yet more scientific evidence of HOW unhealthy these drinks can be!

"This study proved our concerns over sugary drinks have been correct. Not only can regular sugar intake acutely change our body metabolism; in fact it seems that our muscles are able to sense the sugars and make our metabolism more inefficient, not only in the present but in the future as well," Kubis said in a statement.

"This will lead a reduced ability to burn fat and to fat gain. Moreover, it will make it more difficult for our body to cope with rises in blood sugar. What is clear here is that our body adjusts to regular soft drink consumption and prepares itself for the future diet by changing muscle metabolism via altered gene activity -- encouraging unhealthy adaptations similar to those seen in people with obesity problems and type 2 diabetes."
