Nice! That's a pleasant ride. For variety's sake I enjoy going one way on 434 and the other on 17C.

Here's a ride I've done which is FILLED with hills and climbing:

Only 32 miles...but you're essentially climbing and descending Belden Hill twice...oof! I'm not ready for THAT ride yet...lol!

Gwen took me from 4 corners in Vestal all the way to Owego today, 34 miles round trip. I'm getting there.

Thanks for the tips Don! Gwen took me out 434 on Monday and we're contemplating a ride down 11 into New Milford this weekend.

My thoughts exactly, re: Jersey Shore...sheesh! Buried down in some deep holler in the bowels of Pennsylvania is a spot in the road named Jersey Shore...?!?! Somebody flunked geography...lol!

Hey there are LOTS of shorter rides in our area that you can consider. A nice, relatively flat ride down to Hallstead via route 7 and returning through Great Bend via 11 gives one at least 20-30 miles depending on where one starts. That's a great ride to knock down some miles and build up some resilience.

Another shorter ride which is on par is out to Owego & back via either 17C and / or 434.

To build up some hill climbing one could start in Chenango Forks at either St. Rita's or the fishing access and head up route 79 through Tunnel until you hook up with route 7 and return up into Port Crane and then up 369 up through either Chenango Valley State Park or until it hooks up with 79 in Fenton. There are LOTS of hill climbing opportunities around here...oof!

Other rides which are pleasant, relatively un-hilly...again from Chenango Forks up back river road (CR 32) into Greene (20 mile round trip) and beyond to Oxford (35 mile round trip) or even Norwich (62 mile round trip) depending on how much of a ride one wants to make of it. Some hills, but nothing too strenuous. OR from Chenango Forks up into Whitney Point (20 mile round trip) and Marathon (40 mile round trip).

If anyone ever wants to round up a few of us for rides speak up and I'll bet we could get at least a few of us together! :-)

Ok, I have to ask...why would someone name a town that is smack in the middle of PA "Jersey Shore"? It's more than a little misleading.

As for the rides, I have a bit of work to do before I'd be up for most of those.

Glen organizes a lot of rides that sound like a blast...like if you scroll down on that link you'll see the Bike the Night ride. Would love to do that one. He also organizes rides along the length of Long Island I'd love to do someday.

I had a blast with my biking buddy last Sept. doing the MS City to Shore ride from Cherry Hill, NJ to Ocean City, NJ and back. 175 miles in two days...woo hoo! FLAT as a pancake so little or no hill climbing for those averse to hills. Problem is I am just TERRIBLE at fund-raising and the minimum limits for fund-raisers keep climbing. So I'm swearing off those kind of rides for now.

I'd like to think about riding up route 11 to the 1,000 Island area toward the end of summer. Some of our biking club members stay at a B & B up there and I'm thinking how cool it'd be to BIKE up there...two days each way around 80-90 miles a day, stay over at a motel around the Syracuse area. And THEN cycle 'round the 1,000 Islands...wouldn't THAT be cool? I've never been up that way either.

Other rides I'm kicking around on the back burner...up route 7 toward Albany, down 11 into PA toward Scranton / Wilkes-Barre, out 17C toward Elmira. OR from Letchworth State Park Down into the Grand Canyon of PA along a rail-trail which takes you from Wellsboro to Jersey Shore, PA...154 mile journey! Here's a link to that possibility:

I've gone on some wonderful rides with the cycling club out Delaware County way through the Cannonsville Reservoir area, up & down Bear Spring Mountain streaking into Downsville at 50+ mph...! Keuka Lake is a great ride 'round the perimeter. Haven't yet done Cayuga Lake...hear that has to be a 100+ mile minimum to circle around that. Plus the route has relatively small amount of waterside cycling so it isn't as picturesque. Skaneatles Lake is a great ride. I hear good things about Owasco Lake as well.
