I take 'em...lots of 'em...sometimes I wonder if I'm wasting my money, but haven't given up on them yet.
I'm most confident of the value of taking fish oil and flax seed oil. Guess it's because my PCP is such a fan. However I have read here & there about the lack of benefit in taking inexpensive vitamins because they don't dissolve in your body when they need to in order for your body to absorb them.
And skinflint old me: I get nothing but the CVS vitamins...buy 1 get 1 free.
So while I may wonder, I still take:
Calcium 600 mg.
Vitamin C 500 mg.
Vitamin E 400 units
Fish Oil 1000 units
Flax Seed Oil 1000 units
Zinc (not sure of size...standard size though)
Multivitamin (which has another 500 mg. calcium)
