As a child I remember hoping that my Nana would come to our house for dinner. She always brought baked goods like pupmkin pies (my favorite), holiday cookies yummy bars. I make my Nana's yummy bar recipe for our holiday lunch event at work and a Candle Light ceremony I have in December.

Family time together is the best. I do miss those that have passed on though.emoticon

That cabin in the woods sounds amazing!! We usually travel for 3-5 days after Christmas too, but we go to visit friends and celebrate the New Year.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Christmas! My family is up by 3am, we have a huge breakfast, including cake to celebrate Jesus' birthday and stay in our pj's all day.
My whole family (mom, dad, sister and her family) also rent a cabin the weekend after Christmas and just relax playing board games, cards, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, tubing, football and anything else fun that we can come up with. There are no cell phones and the only TV watched is a possible football game on Sunday.

One of the greatest joys in life is doing something somebody says you can't!

Aw, great thread! Let's see...
Thanksgiving-the food, hands down. I LOVE thanksgiving dinner. Just spending time with family, playing cards.

Christmas-this has evolved for me a lot since Alexis came along. I love to see her joy on Christmas morning. Christmas Eve baking with my mom.

I also just love the little things; the lights, the decorations, the music, the overall feeling of joy that seems to pervade the upcoming month. With the exception of the weather, this is probably my favorite time of year.

The anticipation, spending time with family, the looks of joy on my children's faces. What more can I say?? They are all things I am very thankful for in my life. emoticon Then there are many events in the area, like parades, tree lightings, the decorations for Christmas that put that warm feeling in my heart.
