Whitney Point...Dorchester is actually a little ways from NY 26, but far enough down in the valley to escape much of traffic noise, fumes. It's one of my favorite parks in the area...our own little paradise! We had a great SparkRally there a few weeks ago and went kayaking out on the lake. They rent canoes & kayaks there.

Otsiningo might be far enough from 81 - most parts of the rail trail are within about 50 to 100 yards of 434 and that is such a congested road - 81 might actually be lighter traffic even though it's an interstate, and the park is further from the road also.

Where is Dorchester park? I have never been there...

Otsiningo isn't bad and if you only ran the North end (entering on upper front st by northgate plaza) it is really nice. It's about a 2.5 mile loop up to where it meets the old trail/park.

Ah, so Otsiningo with 81 so close wouldn't work too well...

So many routes are more or less integrated with traffic. Perhaps the flat part of Dorchester might work for you...? There is a nasty hill toward the end, which you could avoid by turning around at that point. Dorchester would be fairly removed from traffic at least.

Does anyone have a favorite running route that is relatively flat and low-traffic? My neighborhood is very hilly and not really suitable for an easy run... I like the rail trail but my asthma does not like 434 traffic so close
