What kind of HRM are you getting? I got the one that comes with adidas micoach (which includes the stride sensor, HRM and the "coach" device that hooks to your MP3 player to tell you when to speed up and slow down). I really like it - and it told me just how hard those hills around my house are! I can't stay in a low-intensity zone at all when I'm going uphill LOL!

well varmint.. since i was having such a difficult time of between the %inclines adn everything else.. I posed this question to the message boards... Coach nancy responded with that 2.8 miles/hour is roughly a 21minmile walk... so that would take care of he inclines and whatnot.. I just log in my full 30 minutes.. and it seemed about right... SHe also suggested a HRM as the most accurate.. which i'm hoping to get in the next couple of weeks.. so i'm just gonna keep with what she suggest.. it's seemed middle of the road for what i was trying to log in for both the time, miles/hour, and taking into account the 2 different % inclines...

This is VERY rough and doesn't take your weight or the path's incline into account, but I use 100 calories per mile as a rough count for walking AND running. If the calorie count from the machine seems in line with that, then I accept it, if not, I tend not to trust the machine... 2.8 mph would be 280 calories for an hour, or 140 for a half hour which looks OK, but the increase/decrease for such steep incline changes seem a little low. What does the SP tracker say?

i was consistent at 2.8 miles/hour.. the first 15 minutes was on a 5% incline, second 15 minutes a 10% incline... my treadmill said i only burned 120 calories TOTAL...I did 0.33miles in 5 minutes... i accidently zeroed my total milage at 25 minutes when i stopped... so the 2 miles total is a rough estimation. the 10% incline says i burned 180ish calories...the 5% incline said 140ish...

So what is the correct caloric count???
