I might be wrong, as I've YET to do a spinning class, but I have a hunch one can mimic spinning on a regular stationary bike also...

Keep us posted on your search and results! :-)

well it does seem to be working.. and I don't have to worry about my bike any more.. last night when i was enjoying my "Tour de France"...i heard a distinct crunch and then PING.. and it stopped.. IDK if i slipped a belt... but the pedals move with NO RESISTENCE whatsoever.. My husband John is spent 3 hours on it to see... But i'm thinking i will have to get a new one....

Amethyst... What model do you have that you could enter your weight??? MY daughter likes to use my bike as well, she's 15, and it may afeature worth checkign into.

Then it might be a case of trial and error where you try certain ranges of caloric burns and see if that matches up with your weigh-ins to see what makes the most sense.

Guess I've never been that precise with all of these trackings...! Bottom line for me are the results...if I like what I see, than I keep on keeping on. If not? Tweak it up! :-)

lol... DOn it's not about the sparkpoints.. I'm just trying to make sure i have the proper caloric intake so i can lose and maintain my weight... and to not GAIN any.. that's all.

amethyst...from what i've seen about the bikes where you can enter your weight... I think your bike is spot on.. It may also depend on your resistence level too... :)

Didn't realize you had no way of entering your weight...bottom line recommendation would be to pick whichever method you would like and stick with it for consistency's sake...after all these SparkPoints really are a clever figment of our imagination...lol!

I agree with LadyGwen...on my bike with the programs I use, I do put my weight in; however, after biking for like 20 to 25 minutes at an average speed of abouot 16 mph (as part of the program, not manual), it shows that I burned about 125 to 155 calories! ANd I keep thinking...is that all? Hardly seems worth it for all that work, does it?

Too much of a good thing is not a good thing!

IDK Don if the manual entry is the way to go....ANd this is why.... Here is what i've been keeping track of and i will use today as an example:

Spark Stationary Bicycling: moderate 45 minutes=495 cal
SparkCycling 23-25 km/h 45minutes= 707 cal
MY stationary bike resistance level 2, 45= 95 cal

I found a separate online calorie counter: 45 min=690 calories.

Both the spark AND this online calculator take into account my weight... my bike does not.. and there is a HUGE discrepancy... between the spark, online calculator verses my stationary bike... Course..this could mean my bike is taking a nose dive and maybe i need to get a new one... ;)

Yep, I think adding the calories via the manual entry I described in your other thread is the way to go.

Check it out...hope it works for you...!
