I have thought about becoming vegetarian from time to time and I have realized that I probably never will because I really do like the taste of meat - but I feel healthier for eating smaller amounts of it and more grains and veggies and fruits. It has actually been really easy to cut down from a whole chicken breast to half, or an 8-ounce steak to 3 oz. or a 6 oz. salmon portion to 3 oz. and I feel so much better eating those smaller portions.

Cheese! I won't eat fat-free cheese because I've never had one that tastes good, and low-fat cheese has to be GOOD for me to eat it - I'd much rather eat a little bit of a good, flavorful real cheese than more of a lower-fat chewy, nasty cheese that tastes like chemicals... Milder flavored cheeses tend to come out better in low-fat versions, I think - I like part-skim mozzarella for topping toaster pizzas, for example, but I've never had a tasty low-fat cheddar, blue or parmesan.

I do like low-fat cream cheese and sour cream. My hubby's special cheesecake is made with low-fat cream cheese and low-fat sour cream and it's one of the best tasting cheesecakes I've ever had. Everyone eho eats it thinks it is sinful - but it's probably also the lowest-fat cheesecake they've ever had & they never guess unless we give them the recipe emoticon

I've surprised myself over the things I've given up over time and at first I thought, eh...I could give up anything if I had to. After all, that's how I've dealt with all my trigger foods!

But thinking further I KNOW I have been drawn toward becoming a vegetarian but the bigtime barriers in doing this for me would involve giving up eggs, yogurt and cheese. Now THOSE are HUGE staples among my food choices! I'm just not willing to give those up, at least not YET...

I can't let myself give up anything, but there are things I don't keep in the house, like potato chips, ice cream, or chocolate. But like everyone else said...moderation is key.

I pretty much refuse to give up everything in moderation. More specifically though, I refuse to give up chinese food, the occasional glass of wine or beer and once in a while a nice steak. Really though, if I want something, I have it, just usually a healthier option if available, or a smaller portion if not. This is my whole life that i'm making changes for, not just a diet so there isn't anything that I would give up forever.

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution.

You shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!

Are there certain foods or beverages that you refuse to give up or that getting the low fat, fat free or diet version is just not an option emoticon
