I'm not familiar with the recipe either, but it sounds delicious!

If you want to try to free-lance it, I'd make the crockpot oatmeal according to a recipe, but add the apples and cinnamon in the last hour or so. I think the apples would get really mushy (almost to applesauce - which you can also make in a crockpot) and the cinnamon would lose its "punch" if they were added too early...

Someone (I think it was this group) posted a recipe in their blog for crockpot oatmeal. It sounded really good and I bought some steel cut oats today to try it. What's the recipe???
