Super! The more the merrier! We'll pick a table toward the front of the restaurant, further away from the food & people.

I'm working on being able to come to at least part of this. However, I will have to bring my 3 year old. She is generally well behaved and I will leave if she gets cranky. Hope I can make it!

What about those of us who cannot do that long walk? Maybe we could stay at the restaurant and play games or chat?

OCB has breakfast for $5.99 up until 11 a.m. I'd advise being there no later than 10:30, though, just to be sure as lunch prices are more than double!

Hey my Sat. just opened up...cancellations!

So what sounds good? Any more prefs for where we meet before we hit the trail?

Here is what I would like to propose:

Old Country Buffet on Saturday at 10:30 so that we can get in for the breakfast price of $5.99 (which jumps up considerably for lunch which begins at 11 a.m.).

Bring The Spark and / or questions about The Spark for discussion. I'll print out multiple copies of the study guide.

Break for the Rail to Trail around noon.

Sounds like a plan?

Well you started the idea, you have to be there! You know the most about spark stuff too, i think :)

If you're tied up until at least noon, why don't we eat lunch/talk around 1 at ocb, then walk around 2 ?

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution.

Sure we could do that. My client schedule is a bit iffy and I may have to pass up the talking part as I am fairly certain I'll be tied up until noon.

But that doesn't mean others can get the ball rolling and I'll jump in when I can!

Any preferences as to where we choose to sit down? I like Old Country, but I don't have a strong pref and I may not be able to join in the meal part anyway.

Let's see if we can pull this together and put 'er out there for the whole Team! :-)

I think walking the trail sounds like a great idea. My only thought would be - what if we met up first for lunch/brunch and discussed the book. I'm not sure walking will be good conditions for a good discussion. Would you be interested in meeting up at one of your restaurant suggestions (ie old country buffet, panera, denny's, etc) and going over some things in the book, maybe write up some goals or do an activity, to get us all "sparked up" then head out for a walk after?

Just an idea, though, I'm up for whatever.

The beginning of the trail (at least the beginning *I* use...lol) is behind the plaza next to Towne Square with Michaels & Old Navy. It runs from African Road to Stage Road (behind Schultz Service Center) and is 2.1 miles long.

Here is a link to it on Google Maps:

Sounds like a great idea! I would just need to know where to go. I think I've seen signs for the trail and have a vague idea of its whereabouts, but wouldn't know where to park and meet everyone.

Hey folks, Saturday is looking like a STUPENDOUS weather day! Temps climbing to 40, plenty of sunshine...how about a walk 'n talk gathering on the Vestal Rail to Trail beginning around 1:30 - 2 pm...?

If we have time and are interested we could perhaps move into an indoor location afterward around the area...possibly attempt Barnes & Noble? We could leave that flexible to be determined by those who arrive on Saturday.

What do folks think? Want to nail this so I can put out an APB to the entire SparkTeam?

Agree with the sentiments, re: outdoors...unless we are quite the hale & hearty crew it would be chancey and my ear would probably complain about THAT!

Barnes & Noble is nice, but...on the weekend could we nab a table or space there...? I don't know how it flows with the crowds, but it usually seems impossible to find empty seating except perhaps an occasional chair here or there... I'm still open to B & N if we can pick a day / time where we think we can nab enough seats / tables.

Great to hear the interest...! I think we can make this work! Have to pull together 'round a place, date & time...

Is there anyone else who hails by the Owego direction who would be interested in going? I think the buses run only certain times and if we are meeting I don't know if it will coincide with any buses?

There is always Barnes and Nobles in Vestal. I would suggest a meeting place indoors since it can get mighty cold and if your looking to make this a weekly or common thing it's best inside until the summer gets here.

I am waiting for my copy to get here. I ordered it from Walmart.com since it was only like $15 with shipping, so I might be bookless, but I would love to get out and meet some of you folks. I'm no longer on bedrest. Weeknights and weekends work best for me since Dh and I share a car at the moment.

There is some GREAT value in having the book. Many of the concepts are easy to side-step if one stays focused only on the website. If there is any way folks can afford it I would recommend it.

Another point also made by Coach Nicole:

Everyone who submits a post will be eligible to win a personal makeover at a salon near you (value of $100 per person). Five lucky winners will be selected!

Well I read the one link you posted and part of the point was to try to push the book onto the best sellers list, so I think picking up my own copy is what I'm supposed to do! haha :)

Apologies for the short notice, but...with SparkGuy's book out there for all to read and discuss he has encouraged all local SparkTeams to organize events on the "Show Your Spark Book Club Weekend" coming this Friday!

I wanted to start a message thread to see if folks would like to plan a gathering over this upcoming weekend and to see if anyone had ideas on where, date, time that works for them.

Our sister SparkTeam is having a gathering in Ithaca on Sunday at 2:30, which seems a bit too far and too late in the day for most of us to consider. Here is their message thread about this:

www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard_thread.asp?board=0x20822x302R>57914

AND here is SparkGuy Chris Downie's original post about this weekend:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
ur
nal_individual.asp?blog_id=2604020

So how about it folks...any inspirations? Ideas of places to meet? Any local restaurants which might be conducive to meeting? I've heard Denny's @ Upper Front St. can be meeting-friendly. Old Country Buffet seems to have an abundance of tables and they really DO have healthy food choices. It can be nice to take advantage of their $5.99 breakfast later say 10:30 as it crosses over into lunchtime food (soups, salads) at 11.

Perhaps we want to keep it outdoors at Chenango Valley State Park? Greenwood Park and hope for snow & cross country skiing...?

Here are some suggestions made by SparkPeople:

Post your thoughts, ideas, interest here at this thread and let's see if we can pull a good time together this weekend!
