Hi I am new to the group! I have been a Spark People member for a week now. The way I look at it, I survived one week! The food is some of the issue; I noticed I went to go eat for no reason last week. Omitting soda will be a huge conquering step. I try to limit it to the weekends and only 2- 20 ounce bottles. I have exercised (cardio) every other day. I think I can do it. I am looking to lose 70 pounds and down 10 since starting. I can't wait to see the transformation!! :) Nice to meet everyone!

YOOVIE's awesome, BTW!!! Very inspiring!

Good luck to everyone in achieving their goals this year!

I am plotting to stay on track. I have got help from my physical therapist! I might make it, ha, ha! I am betting after I get through some of this PT, I will be a lot better off! I've got serious back issues. Then I will probably go in for a rerun on my knees, hoping I won't have another surgery! By the time they're through with me, strength training will be a breeze...it just might save my life if I can get into regular, consistent exercise.

I thought I was doing better with exercise in the last few years but my body had other plans...oh, well! Gotta lose the weight!!!

Hence the FOOD TRACKER AGAIN!!! and the beauty of that is that I am learning new things every day: measuring, new foods, new recipes, portion control, staying in range, being abstinent and binge free. Wow, how cool is that?

I feel like this New Year is bringing on some serious New Changes for a New Me!!!~if I may be so bold as to say so!

Hey Labyrinthia! Just wanted to let you know that there is a Spark Member names YOOVIE who has a really great blog about motivation. If you check her blog out, just yesterday she posted a HUGE list of motivational things to read when you don't want to go to the gym. You might be able to get some really great things from there to put in your collage. Hope this helps!

I would like to really stick with the nutrition tracker big time! I have a lot to learn there. Not only do I see the calorie intake but I learn to eat balanced meals at regular intervals and it keeps me binge free. As well as that I can see where my nutrients are going. And it really does keep me on track.

Secondly, I sincerely want to get the basic 10 cardio, ten strength going on a daily basis. I am so resistant to daily exercise in the winter and with health issues. Plus, I really have trouble throwing myself into strength training. I have a mental block. I am Miss Distraction. I want to make a vision collage for exercise. I think it would be really useful. Maybe transfer some of that creativity over to my Spark Page and get a motivational theme going. I might look for some motivational posters or something I can create or download. I think some of the motivational stories have been really helpful for me lately. If I can channel some of that into the physical arena...that would be awesome! My beliefs about my physical health may also be self limiting. But, I joined the chair workout team and I started a workout today and it was quite great. So, there is some potential for my body blues.

Start small, work up! It is all in the not giving up!

Willow...I find that when I have a water bottle on me at all times I drink so much water. When I was in college I had one with me all the time since I went to school for singing and drinking water is what singers do. But when I got home this summer and didn't have one with me I stopped drinking so much. So I started filling my water bottle at home and carried it around the house with me and found I started drinking it like I used to.

Drink enough water...I have such troubles doing that. Argh! Keep up with my healthy eating and leave more lbs. behind in 2010. I have no real goal set, just want to see those numbers drop.

Nutritional - eat more fruits and vegetables & limit "junk" (in all its forms)

Fitness - walk daily and do strength training more regularly, get out riding 3x/week

Weight loss - get the size 10 Levis zipped and look GOOD in them... I could pull them up last week, but couldn't quite zip them - that's better than anytime since baby (now 5yo) was born!

stay out of the hospital. Spent way too much time there last year. Would like to skip that this year.

So resting, eating right, exercising, and trying to destress.

Still working on breaking through to ONEderland...shouldn't be TOO much longer...! :-)

Would like to increase my bike rides from 40 miles as my longest to 60 miles. Also plan to bike back & forth to work as the weather improves, about 2-3 times a week. Each trip is about 20 miles round trip.

Heading back to Greenwood Park to try cross country skiing again this winter...anyone want to join the fun?

I've also got my new Nordic Walking poles gathering dust...want to get out and start using them.

Don

Nutritional: Think consciously about what I eat and eat only when I'm hungry.

Fitness: Not be so tired and weak all the time. Build up my strength and endurance.

Weight Loss: To feel comfortable in my body again. To be able to shop for clothes at more places. To not feel like I'm literally weighing myself down.

I'm also looking to lower my cholesterol and continue to work on my emotional and mental health. While it's gotten better, it's still far from healthy.

What are some of your nutritional / fitness / weight loss goals for this year?

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution.

You shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!
